Today after work, my wife was telling me that she and her colleague messaged a coworker from Iran (she works for a bank, and this guy works at another branch) to tell him that they are thinking about him and to say that they are sorry that his family in Iran has to go through this difficult time. Apparently he responded that the sentiment was completely misplaced because his family literally cheers every time they hear a bomb drop because they hate their repressive government and they welcome American intervention.
Of course, It’s not as simple as killing the Ayatollah assholla and then everyone lives happily ever after. It’s a complicated situation and I don’t claim to have followed it closely enough to have anything of value to say about it. I don’t have a right to feel injustice. It’s called volunteering. Enlisting. People don’t enlist in the military without thinking they could make the ultimate sacrifice. As a parent, that’s recognized. I wouldn’t expect the parent on the other side to feel any less pain than myself. Yet, if I had a choice, it would be them every single time.
I don’t see many evangelicals wanting to kill everyone that doesn’t believe what they do, so no, that’s not what I meant.
