Dualsports are FUN! 😎1000014001

As far as mods, I've done very little to this 2016 350 XCF-W. I love this bike, and it does not need much, all I've done is get a less restrictive Endcap by dual sports only if I recall correctly.

When I do dualsport events, I go one tooth up on the counter shaft bracket for taller gearing so the motor does not have to work so hard on the pavement sections.

But mostly this bike is used for single track and trail riding but it's nice to know if I need to hit the pavement I'm perfectly legal. 😜

2021, 500EXC.  Mostly ergo and protective mods and heavier springs.  Everything with the engine is still stock, even still has the cheese-grater in the end of the stock muffler.  My wife's 390 in the background.PXL 20220606 182704335.jpg?VersionId=BjlOzXijiDfYZ93znERZVo

2019 EXCF500 and wife’s 2017 XT250.
DG pipe on the XT, bark busters (lever savers) lol and dropped a tooth on the rear.
KTM - Acerbis 3.1 gallon tank, smog elimination kit, CDI ( not a vortex, it was  off-road map from Poway motorsports where I bought it) yosh slip on, lowered 2” and revalved by Nick at Pro Valve (Retired now) seat concepts comfort xl seat, sicass rear taillight/ blinkers, double take folding mirrors. I’m pretty happy with the Maxxis desert IT in the rear and Shinko fatty front. Edit: Almost forgot, added 1 tooth in the rear. I heard that was the hot set up somewhere lol IMG 0769.png?VersionId=AaMDz8p5WhOQqKdGKgKPfIVIMG 0771.png?VersionId=b.03LfS3qZuwPzTArIMG 0765 0.png?VersionId=FwHqUpPHZolc9GeTMGT

I forgot to list a mod for this bike that makes a huge difference.

I have a set of sumo wheels for it, they are 18” front and back (stock rear is 18”). It feels like a completely different motorcycle when I swap wheels.

Here's my 2004 WR450f I rescued. Crank was locked up and the whole bike was thoroughly clapped when I bought it.

You rode a KLR on the Rip? How the hell did you not get any TV time for that?

It's not non-moto if you race them. 😉

Definite extra points for the collared shirt and jeans. And are those Malcolm Smith or Hallman boots?

Malcolm Smith boots.  Also Malcolm Smith Enduro pants and a rugby shirt.  How I rolled back then.   😄

I caught up to The Rip in Loreto and chased them the rest of the way…rode some of the course…rode Bobby Pecoy’s Husky on day 6 (he’d injured his hand) and had an amazing time.

The picture is from out front of the Mission at St Javier.

Note…Cameron DOES NOT want The Rip to come across as some sort of ADV ride…and he’s right about that. When Moto-Goofs, like me-n-you, ride the KLR…we pretty much “Moto It!”…but, on camera…it still might send the wrong message 🤣

I've added a few things since these pictures.  Seat Concepts tall seat, Steg Pegz, handlebar risers, tail tidy, etc.

I’ll add a few pics! Dual-sporting is a great way to get around! Both of my dual-sports are admittedly on the LOW end of the performance spectrum! Even with the suspension mods & exhaust add’s that I have made, both are firmly planted in the “Play bike” category! BUT the KLR & CRF300 Rally are still a blast to jump on & make a quick loop at the off road trail when I don’t have time to load a race bike, drive to trailhead, unload, dress, ride etc!
Added some Tusk luggage and I can make weekend runs into the back country likely-split too! 😎 👍❗️

Hey R66!

The wife & I are traveling at the moment BUT was wanting to send you a PM with a couple questions for you related to dual-sporting your CRF!

IF you don’t mind to check for that & respond as or when you have a second! Thanks in advance! 😎 👍❗️

My team is entering its 3rd season as the 600X innSCORE/Baja (ProMoto 60 Champs) and this will be the 5th season that I’m “Pre-Perrunning” on the KLR-Adventure.

I ride into remote locations that make for strategic pits and rider change areas. That 6 gallon tank makes for excellent “remote access”.

Over the last 5 years, I’m constantly amazed at the amount of stupid places I can go and stupid things I can do on the KLR. I once made a very serious bet about a hill-climb…my friend, a serious SxS racer…is still pissed when the subject comes up 🤣

Wait, did I read that right ? Did you say SIX gallon gas tank ?  Six like in a sparklet's bottle, plus another gallon ?   So roughly 38 lbs of fuel.  Okaay then 🙃 What's your range ? Say cruising on pavement vs hills and sand ?    Gotta be 200 plus miles on pavement ?

I truly LOVE my venerable ol’ KLR! I joke all the time that it’s like a beloved family mule! NOT the fastest, NOT the prettiest, NOT glamorous w/all the latest gee-whiz, NO pedigree of any kind BUT it’s a friendly reliable workhorse, cheap & easy to ride/maintain and always a willing partner in whatever goofy adventure gets cooked up next!
😆 👍❗️

And yer correct Sumdood! The range of the ol’ KLR is really good w/the huge fuel capacity! Beyond 200 miles routinely!

I had one of them pigs before.  As much as I love Zooks,  that thing needs a 6th gear and a diet.

A buddy and I drove down to Oklahoma last Thursday for some weekend trail riding at Cross Timbers ORV while we got another 8" of snow up here. Felt good to get a little winter throttle therapy on the old XR. I love this pig! I hardly touch my RM-Z anymore.
