I'm not the pilot, just lucky to have friends (or relatives) who own these aircraft.  I do not like the king airs either as I prefer a single over dual props.  My favorite pick for the Lawrences would be a PC-12 but they will probably get a king air or older jet.  You could load everyone in PC12 (and a couple bikes) and have plenty of room, plenty of speed, and very very efficient.  As for the citation, it's a Cj3.  This guy started with a phenom, had a Honda Jet, and got the citation a few years ago.  It only gains us approx 1hr on a 4hr flight for the turboprops, but I like taking detours and flying low and slow to check surf spots in the turbo props which is something you can't do in the jet.

He’s got the right idea about the PC12 if you fly into Baja or Alaska or BC Islands.…and the like. Hell, it’s a great plane to load up your bikes and head to the Colorado 500.

I've thought about getting my license many times, but if I can't fly at least once every 2 weeks then it's not worth it.  A good pilot is someone who flies very very often, and not once every 2-3 months.  I'll let my buddies keep busy with all the flight plans and paperwork, while I enjoy the flight in the co-pilot seat.

Lol...I just joshin' ya bud.  Airplanes...even a bug beater are horrendously expensive.  Just my cost to perform an annual would make most folks shit their pants.

I have that covered too. One of my best buddies has a 100+' luxury fishing yacht that I get to enjoy.   3-4 day trips to Cortez Bank in a floating hotel that he uses strictly as a fishing boat.

There's lots of chartering services now to rent private jets out when they aren't using it to offset the cost. Maybe someday the flight from Florida to Anaheim will only take 30 minutes.

I know, hard to believe.  The owner is the wealthiest person I know by far and is the most humble person I know.  He owns a massive chain of a certain store here in the south west, and owns most of the land they all sit on.  The custom luxury yacht and the crew, fuel, etc it takes to operate that thing is just a small write off for him.

It all depends on their mission but a pc12 isn’t going to do what they need it to… especially if they’re expecting to do trans cons every week. I think anything else feasible is out of their price range.  Flex, or netjet shares maybe…

On the bright side, if they do buy a jet we can expect them to be riding for a longggggg time to recover financially

Justin Cooper's wife's family has one. The others you listed do not own private jets; they occasionally charter them.

Deegan charters the most often.

Tomac is probably the second most often to charter, especially during Pro Motocross.

Yep, if they are flying from Seattle back to Florida, I know that means at least one stop, which can be done, but just takes a little longer.  We don't fly farther than about 5hrs from SoCal, so that gets us to everywhere we go.  The owners do fly across country though, but it's not every week.  Lawrences will have to buy an old jet to afford it and be efficient.

Cooper Webb owns a plane, it’s certainly no jet but he does in fact own a plane.

Sorry, I was more directly referring to jets. I believe Carmichael's was a single or twin prop as well.

The last part is what scares me a little bit. I fear the safety aspect of trying to get a jet on the cheap. Not a future headline I want to read.

There are plenty of great "old" aircraft out there from OCD owners who kept all their maintenance logs clean and tidy.  All the aircraft require a maintenance plan/records/inspections so I wouldn't worry about a plane that's 25yrs old with low hours.  In fact, my buddy who owns the TBM upgraded to the latest/greatest how he's fuming in recent months because they put too much "trial" tech into it and he has to fly it to Camarillo to have service done on it (down time).  He's almost over completely over it now and wishes he had not sold his older plane that had much nicer finishes inside compared to the new one.  The older plane was more "hands on" which he prefers, while the new one has too much "autopilot" feel to him with all the tech that's causing the mandatory maintenance.

From what I see, a nice 20yr old aircraft is the sweet spot for value, because you can pay 2-3x more for a new one and not gain much performance or efficiency.

Borg and the pilots here might disagree, but I feel safest in a single turbo prop because my friends have shown me how easily they glide over Baja.   I konw jets can glide, but I wouldn't want to try it.  The jet also seems so much more sensitive to speed/timing on approaches compared to the turbo props.  Things are happening much quicker in the jet and I can feel the stress on the approaches.

If I were a pro motocross rider, the absolute last thing I'd ever buy is a turboprop plane of any kind.I'd take the middle seat in the very last row of a packed 737 on a coast-to-coast flight over sitting in the back of my own private turboprop any day. Those things are brutally loud—props blasting that constant low-frequency drone and vibration right through the cabin. You'd end up deafened and completely wiped out from the fatigue after just one long trip. Seriously, even thinking about it exhausts me! Holy hell, no thanks.

A Fractional jet card or Fractional Ownership would be the only way to go.You get professionally trained crews and top-tier maintenance techs every single time—no skimping on standards. The safety record for reputable fractionals is outstanding, often equaling or even exceeding that of the major airlines  Btw, only the very top riders can afford this type of transportation. Definitely not cheap!
