So we should be talking about the guy that finished 7th who had one great moto but then chose to switch the focus from his results to the blatant cross jumps he did(we only saw one as there were multiple that weren't shown on TV)....I swear some of these George fans are some of the softest, blinded by loyalty crybabies I have ever seen....Because George is such a great sand rider maybe we should call his bed bugs Sand Vaginas....

I don’t listen to Matthes ( anti  Euro  d..k) but if he’s talking about his cross jumping, losing places after good starts and chase running better than him on the Kawasaki  then I don’t see a problem.

Perhaps Ian and the boys should put the Pulp Klan on ice (same as Deegan has done). Betting Matthes would drop the “bedbugs” trope very quickly. Respectful dialogue is a two way street.

Everyone knows that Prado will develop into one of the top racers this season. There's no debate about that. Eli Tomac, for example, readily agrees, without a second's hesitation when asked.
Whether you feel sympathy for Prado is the question.
I see a colorful warrior. With him, the global sport of motocross has been much more fun for years than without him.

Idk, I haven't seen any hate or disrespect but don't really listen to 5hr shows either. Right now I think criticism is fair and we'll see if he comes around once Jorge really starts doing well. We're 4 rounds in only. Let's hope he stays in one piece and continues progressing and learns to hold a straight line.

I did listen to some of the pre-season stuff and if I remember correctly Matthes was 100% sure Savatgy would smoke him, Marchbanks would beat him more often than not, he would have to get lucky to get a top 10 with a full field and his ceiling is similar to Colt Nichols on a 450. Not sure if I'd call that disrespect though. Maybe justified after 2025. But turned out to be pretty damn far from reality.

he released his "Observations" article yesterday and spoke highly of Prado. OP might just need to step outside and touch grass.

Prado's 2025 season left almost everyone scratching their heads, it's not crazy to have been skeptical going into '26. It's a good thing he's been off to a good start, if he stays healthy and keeps improving he'll gain a lot of fans in America.

Matthes has been negative on him but not a hater.

Bro literally gave up while sitting on fat contract and factory bike like 6 months ago and you're wondering why people aren't tripping over themselves to praise his every minor accomplishment?  You're basing your opinion that he dislikes Prado cause he didn't praise him for having a fast segment time?   Actually I think they brought that up on the SX review show, so perhaps go listen to that.  Even with him giving up last season, everyone praised him for exceeding SX expectations.

And yes he comes off pessimistic.   It's a schtick.  Half of his shows are him saying wildly ridiculous things on purpose.   I find it to be funny and entertaining.   Some of you need to get a sense of humor.   You do realize his income is directly proportional to his engagement right?  The whole story about how Savatgy and AP wouldn't make a night show in the 90s was hysterical.   Please tell me you didnt actually believe he believes that?

I haven’t noticed anything particular. He seems to give pretty fair credit and criticism.

Although Prado moving over through rhythms is pretty horrid…

Well, no.

Before Prado arrived he had the big reputatation of cross jumping, so nothing suprised me.

You do realise it was Weege who came up with the term “bed bugs” and continues to use it

Who cares. Matthes has adopted it and it’s his show. I was a big fan of the show when Matthes was an outsider. Now, he uses the show as a bully pulpit—which is his right to do. It’s also my right to put his ass on blast when I feel like it. 🤷‍♂️

But holy cow the disrespect and dislike is off the rails. Made me lose a ton of respect for him.

I lost respect for Matthes a long time ago.  He’s an arrogant know at all.  And I honestly don’t know how he has such a huge platform.

It must suck to be forced to listen to a show you don't like.

I agree he can be a bit insufferable at times, but since I choose to still listen to the show, I feel like maybe I'll keep my mouth shut about the parts I don't like and just enjoy the parts I do?

Weird concept, I know.

He bullies those privateers into racing for their biggest payouts of the year,  diabolical really.

When was Matthes and outsider?   Like 35 years ago as a teen a Canada?

Pretty sure even Stephen would agree that the early years of the show were sometimes chilly. There were rigs where he wasn’t really welcome—per his own comments at the time. Tomac, Stewart, Carmichael all shunned the dude early on. Matthes isn’t losing sleep over what a random dude on a message board going by “El Capitan” spews out. Any attention is good attention in the podcast world.

I predicted that Prado would surprise everyone this year, and he has already.

But, I won't forget so quickly what he did to Kawasaki last year.  Unless he comes out with something that justifies him holding back, it'll take time for me to let that go.

People make mistakes.  I'll let it go, but probably not this season.  Well, maybe.

I expect he's going to be very strong in the outdoors.

im not sure pulp listeners are missing much with not having Hayden or Brian on the shows at the moment, , as you see with Hayden's interviews with JT on the podium , he doesn't give good insightful  interviews,

I agree. I actually prefer when they are unbiased and arent friends with all the riders.

I like steve but his opinions sometimes are a little soft on riders he likes (christian craig is a great example). I will say over the last decade though, I think he gets it right most of the time.

He had a show before Deegan and he’ll have a show after Deegan. Not sure why people think the sport revolves around Deegan. Who is really losing out by him not being on the show Pulp or Deegans?

This is definitely a fascinating storyline to watch as it continues to play out. Steve Matthes is an interesting character with a lot of good connections within the teams across the paddock, from factory levels to privateers. His following is validation of his ability to draw peoples interest.

One point of interest in this is the rhetoric around Haiden having a right to act as he wants and that he's earned the right to do so because of his performances and the work he puts in to be a great rider. That thought process also applies to the conversation about Steve Matthes and the Pulp Show. He's been a part of the sport for a very long time and like Haiden, has put the work in to get to where he is and to get the following that he has.

It seems like he is not willing to trade his honest opinion for rights to interview Haiden or any rider that boycotts him. That part of his character could be a big contributor to the success he's had and the following he has in moto media.
