Always thought his confidence is what helped him, but in the post race he said "that may have been the final nail in the coffin." So many more races to go, can't believe he is already thinking that way.

You: Deegan is awesome and would never get tired.

How are you people even real? Grinning

I don't like the whole douchey SoCal bro scene, so I'm not a fan of Deegan. You'll remember from the race that they commented on how fresh he looked at the end of the main, and he really did, so that's what was in mind as an example. His fitness is bonkers regardless of what we think of him.

Webb has crashed in all 3 mains, and 2/3 heats,  its not been a good start

Wouldn’t have anything to do with him having a 1/8 of the competition and a shorter race, would it?

He has no room for error, and Hunter and Eli aren't injured this year.

Wasn't there a similar photo last year from the San Diego podium after he got dropped by Tomac and Jett (granted, he had been injured heading into the 2025 season)?

To me it looks like he was super confident heading into the season and it hasn’t gone to plan, so he’s disappointed, which is understandable.
But one win, or a well raced podium, and we’ll suddenly see a different guy.

Tomac and Hunter haven't even had a bad start yet and zero issues.  Tomac has always been an inconsistent starter. I have a hard time believing he won't trend back towards his mean. If Webb and Sexton can get up front a little more at the start it will close up.

Yeah I agree.. Also I've heard him say more than once that Jett being out got him more fired up and I assume more confident of winning, and now looks and sounds like I guess he feels it's all over before it began!

I love Webb and I get what everyone is saying about counting him out,  At this point though it would take a major disaster from Chase (very possible) Hunter (possible) and Tomac (Don't see it happening) for him to get back in this. Tomac is dialed and will only get better. A couple of little mess ups trying to make passes is all that stopped him from getting 2nd last night and you could tell he wasn't loving the track or bike set up. I'm not saying it's not possible but if any of those three stay strong the rest of the season, Webb is not going to constantly beat them with speed although we all know he is damn sure going to try.

Feel free to call me a fool in a few months if I’m wrong, but I don’t think anyone can overcome a 24 point deficit after just 3 rounds to bring home a championship in this field.  He didn’t lose those points because of a crash or injury.  Whether it is age or the bike, he just doesn’t have the pace of the leaders this year.  I know Webb performs better in the East, but Chase and Eli are both on new bikes and teams and will almost certainly get better as the season continues and they learn more.

I'm with you. Webb is in a deep hole already and it will be very difficult to climb up from it.

And i just don't understand the arguments that Webb has had his bad races, the other riders will have theirs later. Webb can just as easily have more bad races this season. People talk about these things like every rider has been assigned 3 bad races before A1 and Webb has used 2½ of his 3 bad ones. It just doesn't work like that.

Then there is the East coast argument. Did people ignore the track conditions at SD and A2? Those tracks were soft, it was borderline East coast conditions.

Long story short. Webb is still in it but the margin of error is zero and he needs to stop the bleeding this week with at least a podium, preferably a W.

Webb can't win the title without luck now. If a bunch of riders go out he can win, or maybe if the points leader has a mechanical or a dnf then sure, but Webb is 24 points down after 3 rounds, and usually the riders that are able to pull themselves out of that kind of a hole are riders that are flat out the fastest in the field, which Webb definitely is not.

It's likely that at some point this year one of the guys ahead of him in points will go out, maybe more, but if they don't I'm saying he won't win the title. He can still win races, but he'll likely be 30+ points down by the time the series heads east, and at that point he could win 5 in a row and still not have the points lead. Which he won't, I'm just illustrating how far back he is.

At this point I'm saying Eli, Chase, and Hunter are more likely to win than Webb, and at this point I'd rate Webb's chances just above Roczen's

There are too many faster guys this year that would have to crash out. It’s not happening.

This is Webb when he is angry. You’re not going to like Webb when he is angry.

Still 350 points up for grabs and lots of racing to go.

James started 2009 in a smaller hole with less races left and still managed to win by only 4 points. Reed was on the podium all but one round. It’s a tall order, and it doesn’t look good, but luckily for him, there’s not a Reed or Dungey right now.

I love the fight in Webb.  But, looking at his results from round 3 on in the years he's won the championship, he has to be top 3 every week for the rest of the season to have a shot.

That, sir, he is not. That is a hell of a climb he’s got ahead of him.

I think this will look a lot like his 2020 season. Bad start, but he was really, really solid in the middle and near the end, stacking up podiums and getting a few wins. But ultimately, the hole he dug himself was too deep to fully claw back from, and Tomac was way too solid. I think Tomac will continue to be solid for the rest of this season, and Webb also has Sexton, Hunter, and a still very competitive Roczen to deal with.

Personally, selfishly, i hope they all shuffle around and points get tighter as the year goes on.

My gut feeling is tomac an hunter start inching away with podiums, while roczen, webb, sexton, and maybe anderson fill in the middle with podiums and scattered outside top 10's.

But ultimately prado gets the title and blue collar small business owners all lose their fucking minds! Quitters cant win! 🤣

For context, he later said he thought he was down by 30+ points when he made that comment.

24 points down on Tomac with 14 races to go is only 1.7 points per race, or less than the difference between 4th and 5th place. Some of you guys act like you've never seen Webb come from behind to win something. I'm not counting him out yet!

With the right diet, Webb can shit points. Let's revisit this at rd. 10.
