Serious question, is your life so boring that you feel the need to just say ridiculous things here and pick fights? Definitely sad. Alpinestars has every right to be happy their product they put the time, energy, and risk into bringing to market performed like they hoped it would and helped the one guy choosing to wear it possibly save him from a career ending injury or worse. I was on the fence about getting one for my son and I before last weekend but ordered two yesterday. A pair of tech 10’s retail for the same cost. Hard to say I can’t justify spending that on our more vital parts after what I saw last weekend. Carry on though and enjoy your sad life of picking fights on vital ✌🏼

Serious question - why are we celebrating the alleged absence of hypothetical injuries that we don’t know for certain would or would not have happened in the absence of an air vest when Justin Barcia very clearly suffered a serious injury to his head? One that could be career ending.

Help a brother out. I’m just trying to understand what we’re celebrating. I do want to be on board with the excitement. Perhaps it’s my plated collarbones that are keeping me from comprehending all of this.

Dude fell from the sky and walked away from it, its not that hard to understand.

You're asking "prove he would've been injured worse without this" which is impossible. Looking at the data released, common sense should be enough to tell you that falling onto an airbag is better than falling onto solid ground.

He was knocked unconscious and suffered a concussion.

Congratulations on being mesmerized by data you simply do not understand and will never understand; data that comes with no historical reference point whatsoever.

If Alpinestars had a gigantic 18” cock-sized enema filled with data, something tells me you all would gladly shove that 18” enema full of data right up your assholes in hopes that it makes its way in to your brains where that precious data will sit and lead you to believe everything is safe and super awesome.

Fuck concussions, we have data!

You realize this thing is mean to protect your torso, right? Not your head. No one is diminishing the head injury. If you had to jump off a roof, would you rather land on an air bag or the ground?

Sorry if you can't understand the data sheet that says an airbag was deployed before his body smashed the ground but don't try to put that level of stupidity on me. Fuck you mean "no historical reference"? It was the data from that individual crash. Should the chest pro have analyzed data from Bob Hannah before Barcia hit the deck or something?

You come off as a complete dumbass in most of your posts but this one just shows your brain literally doesn't think straight.

Maybe if he had a 6d on the head trauma wouldnt have been as severe.

Bottom line, the air bag has the chance to reduce injury in the given area its meant to protect. Thats a win. I do wish the bags wrapped around the ribs a little more tho.

Oh really? That’s super interesting to know. I’m still trying to get over the fact that Justin Barcia suffered a severe concussion while Alpinestars and fans are celebrating the fact that he walked away without any serious injuries.

Would you kindly help me understand what serious injuries the air vest prevented Justin Barcia from suffering from? Given all the fancy data and charts we have there should be a clearly definitive answer for this question.

Go get those air vests to protect those super critical collarbones.

They have been sold out since October other than 2X.  The next shipment is due in on 2/6.

Simple as this... He could have a handful of other injuries on top of his concussion but it seems that the Tech Air helped him from suffering even more injuries in addition to his head injury. The Tech Air isn't a protective head covering, why do you keep bringing up that he was knocked out as if this device was suppose to prevent that?

It does extend down over the shoulder when it inflates.  But maybe the rally version would be better as this will only go off for 'big ones' but you probably also want protection for smaller tip overs too. That one does have full shoulder protection even when it's not inflated.

Youre definitely on a mission for some reason. The question you keep asking has no clear answer. Common sense says it could definitely prevent or lessen any given core or shoulder impact. Did you question airbags in vehicle's this much? Lol

I’m just trying to understand why Alpinestars ran an ad immediately after his crash claiming that Justin Barcia walked away without any serious injuries.

I think its fantastic tech. See how many times it saved the MotoGP guys last yrs, they got up and walked away without severe injuries.

Next thing to observe will be how this changes riders risk v reward valuations during the race.

I reckon its great. Barcia has got to be giving thanks.

If you watch the slowed down video you can see the vest inflate when he’s about 3 feet off the ground. He then lands and rolls directly on the inflated airbag. Yes, his head hit first, but that has nothing to do with this thread. His spine could have been absolutely wrecked without the extra cushion.

I’ve seen that exact thing happen hundreds of times in this sport. The sport of motocross, that is.

This isn’t MotoGP where a 200MPH high-side can kill you.

He suffered a potential career ending concussion and we’re celebrating the hypothetical injuries he didn’t sustain to his torso and back because Alpinestars said so with meaningless data.

👍

Yeah, looks like a total game changer in terms of back and shoulder protection. Amazing tech.

You don't sound sober but to answer your question, Barcia broke one transverse process on his spine. If Barcia did not wear the air bag system he would of broken more of his spine as his spine and back would of absorbed the energy that the air bag did. He could of also lacerated internal organs like the kidney just like Brian Deegan and Davi Millsaps resulting in the loss of the organ. If you haven't noticed people get paralyzed from this sport not too uncommonly, an air bag protecting the spine is a massive advancement in mx safety. Go take a walk bro.

Is Austin Forkner still wearing a Tech air MX this year? Reports say his bike hit his back during a crash at San Diego SX and he got checked out at the hospital, no damage found by CT scan.

We are somewhat local to MXboot, talked to Sam on the phone Saturday about the tech air in general and inventory, you’ll get it for sure. He’s actually sending us a medium and a large to try both on as my son and I both are right between a medium and large. Can’t wait to check it out

I don’t believe so, which makes me scratch my head and wonder why

Just making sure I understand - the air vest is capable of preventing paralysis and preventing damage to vital organs such as the liver and kidneys.

Sounds like the panacea we’ve all been waiting for.

I frankly don’t know why they’re stopping at the chest. They should just make an entire inflatable body bag.

Yeah, good point there why don't they just make your whole car out of airbags too instead of just having the one pop out of the steering wheel? No way to know what injuries you might prevent with car airbags too though so maybe we shouldn't and just get rid of them all together?

Spoke with Sam today and all is well. I should see mine in a few days. He said inventory was good so if anyone is looking for medium or large, heres your spot mxboot.com. The medium and large he has do have a slight cosmetic defect in the coloring, which they have pictured. Was a non issue for me as i will wear it under my jersey.
