He bloviates a lot, I don't believe for one minute he would use military force to take Greenland. Trump comes out with an excessive position to give himself negotiating room. Sending to military to overtake Greenland would be the end of his presidency and legacy.
TM
Agreed.
He lays out a Biggly situation then pivots to a softer stance.
Firstly this is not about invading Greenland, I'm not for that at all. I do however believe it will get purchased, or some sort of negotiated deal. Secondly, this forced sterilization was done so recently, there are people alive and still living with hatred of who is responsible for it. I hate that it happened in my country. But you can't deny that a large percentage of the population there probably knows someone that was affected. And given the choice, with that knowledge, is asking themselves, am I better off under Denmark or USA? I'm not for invading other countries for the purpose of growing your own at all.
TM
Well yes I could see how that would be a real topic of hurt for the people affected there , but you only have to do some very easy internet searching to see that the people there are saying “Thanks but no thanks”. And that’s the way it should remain.
TM , maybe I was a little harsh on my statement about your post.Apologies

Y’all realize neither China or Russia is going to invade a NATO country right?
Taiwan ticks as many if not more boxes than Greenland:
China wants to invade Taiwan. Taiwan holds incredibly strong strategic value as part of the first island chain. Taiwan also has a very important economic sector that would be beneficial if annexed by the United States.
Why is Trump not threatening to invade Taiwan?
No apologies necessary, we're all good. We're here to exchange ideas. We don't have to agree, that's ok.
If you can’t convince people to back your insane geopolitical aggressions on the basis of merit, it’s a great secondary strategy to scare them into doing so by creating a non-existent existential threat. Luckily the Obama administration made it perfectly legal to blast Americans with propaganda completely independent of the truth so this task has gotten a lot easier in recent years.
I’m It’s funny the double standards I see through some of these posts.
Russia feared NATO expansion close to its borders. Notice I said expansion and, not invasion?
Aaaaaaand, on the flip side, communist countries are eyeing Greenland for expansion. Maybe not as close but, too close for comfort.
You may want to ask @kongols about that. He's a bit closer to the action on that one.

Ignoring your abysmal knowledge of WW2, the world is very different now to what it was 40 years ago indeed. Why then is it relevant to start digging up dirt on a country that is your friend and ally from further back than that to justify threatening them with invasion or all your other allies with tariffs if you don't get your way? Worse still, digging up facts you were completely fine ignoring not ten years ago while they committed their young to stand at your side (and yes, everyone knew about it ten years ago, this isn't new)?
As for Ukraine, that point wasn't aimed at you personally, but 'you' as in the US. So instead allow me to re-pose the question... If Russia is such a threat to the US that you need to risk grenading the most successful and long-standing military and political alliance the world has ever had in NATO, why then is the US pulling back support for Ukraine leaving the door open for Russia to walk over it and take all the mineral wealth you've just done a deal with them to have access to?
Lastly I'll ask this question again. What is it that the US wants so badly to 'own' Greenland for, that can't be achieved under current situation or through normal quiet negotiation?
His bloviating has gotten thousands killed Iran, yet I don’t see any criticism of him. People need to be objective. That is an absolute travesty and he will lose support from people that aren’t fanatics.
Because Taiwan is China.
Same as everything Donny does. It’s not about the military advantages (US already has that) . It’s about the money, mineral extraction. Just like Venezuela wasn’t about drugs.
I’m sure one of his retarded sons is over there right now setting up company’s to do so.
Pretty easy to see if you have been following along.
Well the US should have gotten involved very early in Ukraine. Should have gone in and said we're going g to help you get unstuck from the sludge and usher you right back across the border. Not because of NATO, But because of the treaty that involved giving up their nukes. Would have been very simple. But 3 of the last 4 president's LET Russia invade other countries and did nothing. So from Russia's pov why not more?
NATO? Someone brought up Denmark sending boots to Iraq, more so than Germany and France. At the time they were sent, it was believed it was Iraq that attacked us (yes I know, later info indicates that was wrong) point is, if you want to claim NATO, we got attacked, it was your obligation, or is NATO only for the US to protect Europe?
As far as why own Greenland? #1 it's strategic for geography and also it's resources. I don't believe Europe has ANY appetite to defend Greenland fron Russian invasion, so IF we are the only ones concerned, why NOT have it as one of our territories.
Was this in my thoughts a few years ago? No, but I can see where it makes sense if they buy it.
By the way, did any Europen country bat an eye when Russia claimed the Noth Pole was their territory just 20 ish years ago?
I'll pick through these in order... Point 1 - agreed.
Point 2 - Afghanistan. They sent more per GDP, so not as many total troops as even Germany/France but a higher proportion of what they had available to them. Post-September 11th is the only time article 5 of NATO has ever been triggered, so were they obliged to help? Yes. Did they have to go as far as they did? No.
Point 3 - You think Europe doesn't want to defend itself from Russia? Europe has put more into Ukraine than the US, to a factor of more than double. Mostly financial rather than hardware, but hardware production and supply is ramping up across Europe at a rate not seen since the 1930s. The Danes have contributed more per GDP of population to Ukraine's defense than any other nation so far pushing an amount equal 3.5% of their GDP. Put simply, of course Europe is interested in defending one of its neighbours. The answer to why not to have Greenland as one of your territories really is as simple as "they don't want to be".
Point 4 - I don't think most people took that seriously or stopped laughing until around some time in 2020. The Russians would claim everything West of Germany as 'theirs' if they thought they could get away with it, which is why the Poles and all of those Eastern European countries are gearing up to give them a bloody nose (again) if they try it.

The truth comes out
Pit Row
“NATO? Someone brought up Denmark sending boots to Iraq, more so than Germany and France. Wait, what? By the time that we invaded Iraq (2003), no one “believed it was Iraq that attacked us”. Are you unaware of this or trying to revise history?
Wow, this feels insane. Like some bad movie with a plot that is so unrealistic its funny.
So ironic to come from the leader of the party that is the most vocal about participation trophies. You don't win everything and being a bad loser sure doesn't make you a winner , or does it? Is that the new way of winning? If you don't win just complain and attack until the real winner gives you the trophy.
I posted this in the other Greenland thread.
Hilarious🤣
Have zero clue what that's about. Seems VERY unnecessary to say the least.
TM
Your leader writes a letter to the prime minister of Norway (not Denmark, whose territory Greenland is), complaining about not being given the NPP (not that it’s anything to do with the Norwegian government as it’s a private body/award). And he states that as he’s not been awarded the NPP the self-proclaimed ‘peace president’ now has no obligation to think about peace.
You cannot make this shit up, as you say.
“unnecessary” is the word you’re using?
If protecting pedophiles isn’t a line in the sand for people why would a Greenland invasion be a blip on their radar?
We really shouldn't be this comfortable with threats of crime as a negotiating tactic, like sell me your car or else I'l steal it. That stuff is fine as a joke behind closed doors, but it's ridiculously unAmerican and toxic and disgusting from any public servant.
You know exactly what it’s about. Some of you guys go to great lengths to not be critical of Trump when it’s necessary.
No, actually I don't. I'm puzzled how it helps move the needle in the direction of progress. Like I said, Trump trying to take Greenland by military force would be the end of his presidency and legacy. So I don't think even his strongest supporters would support that.
TM
No the Trumps aren't the Bidens Bud. Hunter was the guy in charge over there, remember?
Its like people have never heard of trolling before. They'll end up making a deal with Greenland. He's pressuring hard now, that way the deal for the treaty seems like not that big of a deal when he calms it back down. Either way there's something else they aren't telling us because why bother going after Greenland all of a sudden? We've tried to purchase it multiple times in the past. Each time they refuse.
Post a reply to: So Denmark is worthy of keeping control of Greenland?
