Man, Eli hunted them till the last 5 minutes - Hunter included, who is usually near Jett. 2026 Eli is a different animal. But we won't know till Jett is at full power.

I doubt it, but he is the one rider that had a chance. Just too many periods of not pushing it, which has kept him off the ground.
Just shows how amazing 72 wins is, Eli has been racing in the 450's since 2014 and still 2 seasons worth of wins away from beating it.
No doubt, but I'd argue part of that is down to the competitiveness of SX these days. Lots of guys who can and do win races.
does anybody believe ET3 is chasing the record book? At this point in his career every 1st place is just icing on the cake for him

Race wins stat would be better remembered than titles won in the long run. That is until Jett wipes it out in 2031.
MC has 85 combined SX wins, 72/main - 13/regional.
Jett 27, 14/main - 13/regional.
At the rate his injuries are going, he's gonna need to be in lining up well into his 60s to have a shot at it.
Will he be in his 60s by 2031?

Jett has 100 starts in him yet, if he can make it to 30.

Again, at the rate he's been missing races so far, it might be a bit optimistic.
Everts had similar bad luck injuries, then became a world beater. Stefans take on it was they come in 3's. Jett will work it out, he's only 22. But yeah, I see what youre getting at.

Kind of a dumb question, but are SMX rounds counted as SX wins (as in do they count toward MCs record) or something else?
They aren’t counted as SX wins. They are their own category (thankfully). I do believe they will be counted in overall career wins, though, as opposed to something like offseason races.
If Eli continues to win races this year he is going nowhere next season on that pumpkin. Who is there really to challenge him with Jett hurt. Sexton is trying to figure out the bike and Webb is a slow starter.
Jett only has 9 SX wins( 3 seasons)... I don't think we can count SMX wins in the run for 72.
Eli winning is awesome and yes he could hit 73 before done. If he would not have torn his heel and a wasted a year or two on a Kawasaki he may already have 73
Agreed and as much as I’d miss seeing him twist the grip off his throttle it’d be a badass way to go out for an all timer.
Just my $.02. But if Eli wins the SX championship, I doubt he races next year. He wants to go out on top. I hope he does win everythin this year. He wants to redeem the championship he lost when his leg let go a couple years ago.
