You have to have PACER access. There's not much in the file yet, his arraignment is 2/5.

I’m taking about all the folks in here. Lawrence’s were well within there rights (as was wassean) to fire him.

Some of this is believable, some of it isn’t. I don’t know why someone would lie if they know the truth is going to come out in the future. I do question him connecting Epstein and the Los Angeles fires to this story; that was kind of weird… And that he showed a photoshopped picture of Biden, sniffing Steve Matthes, very bizarre. When you throw in stupid shit like that, it makes people question the rest of what you say, even if it’s true.

Yeah, no shit. I was making a joke because Mirtl has claimed this whole thing has been a result of ‘cancel culture’ and that he didn’t do anything wrong.

Thanks for the explanation. Didn't follow the whole saga, so even though I thought that was a joke, I couldn't see how that was even remotely linked to cancel culture...

He's definitely been working harder at winning in the court of public opinion than the court of law, though he seems to be getting his ass kicked in both.

If the truth is against you lying seems the only out.  It can be calculated or desperate or deluded.  People commonly try to avoid consequences by lying rather than confess and accept them

Got it after the dude posted the sarcasm meme.  There were so many in here that were vehemently defending him, didn't keep track of who. All the cancel culture nonsense IMO, is just that. My bad bro

Do you think he will find himself a new "babysitter" in prison? Probably named Big John, or something like that....

Haven't read them.

Noting generally that prosecutors have discretion whether to file charges, don't usually do unless they feel they have a strong case (they hate losing), and the victim more often than not does not have a lot of influence in the decision unless it is a politically sympathetic party who will get a lot of press before the larger public (beyond our little community) and the prosecutor would look bad not pursuing the matter.

Also conviction in a criminal case requires proof beyond a reasonable doubt, which is a much higher standard than the burden of proof in a civil case (which is why OJ won his criminal case and lost his civil case).

Might sound like a dumb question. but couldn't he go back to Australia and avoid all this? I know he was out of the country during the last mxgp season with the Coenen brothers after the Lawrence had file the original complaint.

Fleeing the country whilst having federal charges against you, to another country that has an extradition treaty with the first country probably isn't the smartest move.

Innocent until proven guilty yes, but let's be real. Buddy fucked up, and needs to sack up and face the music.

As someone else mentioned, having a civil suit is one thing, very he said she said. But federal charges, they don't do that unless there's a substantial amount of evidence and a pretty damn good chance they will win.

Also note that this is a federal case, which have an insanely high conviction rate. Fed prosecutors seldom charge without a slam dunk case.

Wasn't he going to represent himself in the civil case after his lawyers abandoned ship due to his nuttiness? If so, wonder if he's still planning on going that route now that it's criminal?

Yeah I’m pretty sure the conviction rate is like 99%.
