Pala/Fox Raceway for SX Pro practice depending on which days you are in town.
Definitely stop by the beach area for lunch or dinner, some of the best coastline in the country 👌
I don’t think there’s really anything moto related to check out unless you bring a bike. Most tracks are 45+ min from downtown. Other things to do would be check out Point Loma, gas lamp, little Italy, sunset cliffs, La Jolla cove, Birch Aquarium, SD zoo
First time here going this year what do you recommend for restaurants on the beach?
This falls under "Anything Else" Torrey Pines Glider port has a restaurant on the bluff where hang gliders and paragliders launch. And they do tandem hang glider and paraglider rides if your feeling ballsy.

Very casual but awesome food and great views 👌
The Birch Aquarium is cool but kind of small. You generally need to make reservations ahead of time. Just a heads up if you want to check it out. It's not a spur of the moment thing, you need to plan in advance. Just an FYI. Have Fun !
Non moto, tour the USS Midway.
+1 on the sunset cliffs
Nessy Burger on the other side of the freeway from Fox Raceway.
Tracks: Glen Helen, Perris Raceway, Barona Oaks MX, Cahuilla Creek MX.
Jake’s Del Mar or The Poseidon in Del Mar is right on the beach. Ask for outside seating on the beach. Brigantine Del Mar overlooks the Del Mar Race Track and is across the street from Del Mar beach. Tons a places in Pacific Beach and Mission Beach on the boardwalk.
When I was there in September, there were huge homeless tent cities. All matching tents. It was like a subdivision. Never seen those before.
The drive over the Coronado bridge is pretty cool. Stop by Kansas City BBQ to see the Top Gun piano, but the food there wasn’t anything special.
North County SD is great. One day in the downtown area and Coronado (I love Coronado)is all you need then head up to north county. Del Mar to Carlsbad. Don’t bother going to Ocean Side. Bring walking shoes.
Pala has a busy SX track this time of year during the week, Tuesdays the busiest SX day I think. It’s only 30 min from the north county area.
There is lots to see, just my personal opinion. It will be cool on the coast might need a wind breaker. No you probably won’t see huge homeless camps unless you go trying to find them. Thats old Covid era stuff that’s been mostly hidden away.
I second this! Also the safari park if that’s your thing.
Stop by Luxon if you'd like, we're around every weekday.
Come to Carlsbad I’ll show you where the raceway used to be. Actually you could spend a day looking at housing developments that used to be MX tracks in Carlsbad unfortunately…
We’ve got tons of awesome breweries in North County.
Vigiluccis on Tamarack has great food and is right by beach. Just north of there is a decent basic fried seafood / fries/ taco place right on the beach.
You could rent cruisers in Carlsbad and ride the coast, it’s dead flat as far as Del Mar if you wanted to go that far ! so v easy.
Tony Hawk just opened a chicken shop in leucadia so if you’re a skate guy I guess that would be a place to visit. No idea what it’s like though.
Could do a hike from Del Mar beach up to the golf course at Torrey, nice workout and awesome views.
If you’re a surfer rent a board and hit Swarmis & Cardiff reef, good chance you’ll see some pros out there.
We have a bunch of good golf courses up here too if that’s your jam.
And if you want to see dudes walking around with their dongs hanging out take the long staircase down to the beach below the glider port... 🤣 Not sure what the rush is of walking around nude in public, but I guess that is a clothing optional beach!
Do a loop on the Trolley tour. I've lived here for a long time and just recently did it while some family was visiting, I was pleasantly surprised. It's a great way to see a lot of San Diego with a little history thrown in.
I cannot add much to the list from locals. All great options. All I will say is…don’t get hung up on “lame tourists stuff.” I agree with Johnny Utah, I’ve also lived here a long time and have recently done the Midway, Trolly Tour, and Balboa Park for the first time. All were incredible and we couldn’t believe that we’ve never done the before. The Midway I was not pumped to do then spent 6hrs on the damn thing and had to get drug off.
Wait I got one. Rent E-bikes in downtown SD, take the bikes on the ferry to Coronado, ride the bike path and streets to Hotel Del Coronado, have lunch on the sand. We’ve done this a couple times with the kids and it’s a blast. You get great views at downtown on the ferry ride there and back, Coronado super cool, and you get to see a bunch of cool stuff. Try to time it so your boat ride back is at night so you can see the city lights.
Pit Row
Didn’t think about this. I’m not flying in this year so totally can bring my e bike.
Is Blacks still a nude beach ? They might be getting some new clientele. The marines shut that shit down at “Trail 7” on Camp Pendleton base property. They recently put up this razor wire fence, from what the Ranger told me they are handing out “trespassing on federal property” tickets to those who ignore it and go around. I guess there’s a new general that didn’t think a marine base was a place for weirdos to be waving their willies around. The fuckers fucked it up for the rest of us, used to be a great place to ride on the beach at low tide, and there’s
a couple good spots down there.
Edit- Denied posting a pic from my phone. But there's a razor wire fence down to the high tide line at the end of trail 6 now.
SDPD drunk tank is nice this time of year 🥳🤢🤮
visit the 9/11 hijacker’s apartment in Clairmont.
Visit the condo where Gator Rogowski murdered his girlfriend in Carlsbad.
Visit the Top Gun house in Oceanside.
Visit Axell Hodges dads in Encinitas
Visit Slayground in Ramona
Visit the legendary skateparks / schools near Tony hawks house in Encinitas
There used to be the San Onofre nude beach near Oceanside. But it was like 90% men. And a mile walk from the car.
Only time I ever went there was to surf. They sold it like there would be titties on the beach. NOPE. This was in 2005 though I’m sure it’s gone
Or take any cruise of the San Diego harbor.
They even offer speed boat cruises that seat like 80 people. It’s basically an amusement ride
Go see the MIDWAY.....if you can appreciate engineering marvels....... the old wooden ships museum is really cool also......
Don’t forget Mike McGill opened a pizza place across the tracks from Toney’s place
That’s where I was referring to in the other post. They put this up recently. I rode down there today, it’s a serious fence.

Other side of that fence is military property
Check out:
Old town
Seaport Village (USS Midway)
Rent a e-bike
Gas lamp district (too many homeless and smell like urine, but good food in the area.
Belmont park (amusement)
mission beach area (and mission bay) Rent a boat, love the bay.
La Jolla for upscale food and nightlife.
I've always wanted to visit the USS Midway Museum. That sure would be a great educational experience and you should go check it out. Its a great part of US History.
