I’ve been hearing various rumours about SCOTT, specifically that they may stop producing motocross goggles and gear. Some claims suggest that another brand could take over the goggle moulds, possibly Acerbis.
In my region, they’ve also been struggling to consistently supply spare parts such as tear-offs and roll-offs, which has added to the speculation. I also haven’t seen any MY26 models yet, although it’s possible they plan to release collections under different naming cycles rather than traditional year-based models.
I’ve also heard that the goggle segment hasn’t been particularly profitable for them for a long time, despite being a core part of SCOTT’s brand identity.
Does anyone have reliable insight into this? If true, it could have a noticeable impact on the sport.
Scotts owners is getting out of MX. So either Scott will disappear as a MX brand, or someone will buy it. Originally they where just pulling out, but i think there is some interest from others carrying on.
It was decided during spring this year so been going on for a while now.
Thought it was odd almost every time we would try and place an order stuff was out of stock. Kinda figured whoever handled their inventory was just incompetent. I can be being out of a certain color way in a set of goggles but to be out of tear offs or lenses? I gotta say this too, while we love the goggles, whomever designed the lense lock system on the prospects needed tarred and feathered. Yes the 2’s are far easier but the 1st gen? I’d rather change a tire than that goggle lense.
It's odd given their history in motocross. I noticed a few Scott riders switched brands for 2025, and it looks like more for 2026. So there might be something to the rumours...
Strange move when they just signed Justin Cooper for 2026.

I ordered 2 lenses 100 tear offs, and a mtb no problem for Christmas.
Scott isn't going anywhere.
They may be exiting the European market and giving the rights to molds to another company to fill that spot. That is my uneducated guess because I find it hard to believe they would shut down operation in the United States.
That would suck I have 3 pairs of OTG and really don't want to switch
Been wearing Scott stuff since about '78 after my Barufauldi's finally wore out.
Hope the brand name can be saved.
Man, I hope not. They are the best goggle for the money in most cases. The lenses are cheap and durable and protective. The mid-ter Fury goggle is kinda meh but the Prospects are perfect.
Seems like they're going heavy into high end mountain bikes. And I mean the actual bikes, not just gear. I wonder if they have some kind of competitive advantage there?
Korean mother company where/are getting Scott out of MX/offroad. Nothing has changed from what I know.
Will still do MTB and other things. Things can always change, but major dealers close to Scott got this Info early 2025.
Not going anywhere usually implies continuity, but in this case it seems like it literally isn’t, so unfortunatley you are correct sir.
Something seems to be up. Two distributers in Canada have dropped the Scott goggle line.
Either they’re shelving it and nothing new for a while or end of an era. Rep told me don’t expect any new colorways or anything anytime soon.
On that note, I do have 6 pair of prospects and extra lenses for sale, like new condition 😅
I remember back in the 80's and 90's Smith and Scott was simple and so popular, you never had to worry about lens and tears offs, as when you got to the track all the vendors had everything for them cause there was only a couple models, if it was a really small race without vendors , it seemed like every one had extras. Now it seems every one makes goggles and no one ever has parts for them, and if you are lucky to get parts at the time you get the new goggles, the next year they come out with new stuff that don't fit the old goggles.
I quit wearing Scott, When Scott Watanabe and Beavo headed to 100%

If true, this is terrible news. I've been a Scott lifer. Though I miss the old Scott 89.
Ditto on the 89s
They are doing some organizational changes that I think everyone will like. Not sure about the rest of the world but for the US they are definitely going to still be in the game.
Scott owns the rights to Acerbis distribution in the USA, so it makes sense if there is some collaboration there. I'm of the belief like some others that Scott isn't going anywhere.
well, sad as i am to say there is some changes at scott. i hope it turn outs okay with the changes but only time will tell.
scott seems like a solid company with a large following but i will say we tried their prospect line of goggles this year and i just wasnt happy with them. Ended up going back with 100% for the foreseeable future. The 100% lens mounting system is head and shoulders better than scott, as well as the tear third tear off post being permanently mounted instead of clipped on the strap. Overall scott goggles just feel cheaply made in comparison
Changing Scott lenses is on-par with solving a Rubiks cube, but atleast the owner didn't sue a MX track.
What happened to Smith goggles though? Haven't seen a pair since the last ice age.
I knew a guy named Scott Smith and understandably it was a hard choice for him to decide which goggles to buy.
I think they're just doing snow and MTB goggles nowadays.
😁
Remember the Smith Violators ? Those were pretty ahead of their time. I never rode in them, so Mabey they were not that great to use. But a friend had them when we were kids and it was so cool how they came apart and the lens slid in from the top and clipped in. my buddy had the Scott EFS system and put it on these.
