One of the other threads inspired me ya might say. Quite a few guys mentioned dropping weight. Some even mentioned significant amounts.
I’m thinking we have a friendly weight loss competition for bragging rights. I dropped about 40 pounds last year but needed to loose 60. Big guys can carry a lot of weight lol. I’m about 6’1” now, was 6’2” in high school but back surgery and age has shrunk me. I’ll be 70 in March, but I don’t feel like it!
Was down to 205 but back up to 220 the other day. I noticed my weight gain at the track the other day. Got tired quicker. I really don’t want to start swapping to heavier springs on 3 motocross bikes lol. I’m going to drop a few pounds, 20 maybe more starting now into early 2026.
Anybody want to jump in, list their weight/goals and share diet/exercise plans on how to do it. Might help somebody else drop a few.
I’ll go first,
Dec. 8th I was 220. I started a 36 hour fast the same day. My diet plans are low carb, target no more than 20 carbs a day. Calories 1200 to 1600 per day. Which is aggressive but I did it last year and dropped 40 pounds.
My exercise plan is to up my gym days for 3 to 4 days a week, along with added cardio. My one mile on the treadmill is not getting me anywhere. I want to be seriously improve the time I stay on the track.
I want to loose 10 pounds between now and Christmas, then 5 pounds in Jan. and 5 in Feb. If I get to that I’ll look in the mirror and decide if I need to loose more.
Anybody else want to jump in !!!
Should be a sticky with a prize or two put up for the top 3 guys!
*Quietly nods in agreement while looking at the crumbs of the three chocolate glazed donuts he just inhaled*
Great idea!!
Maybe a gift card for an all you can eat buffet for the winner!!!
See? It’s the common slightly-twisted-humor amongst motoheads that keeps me around.🤣

I’ll go first on my weight loss……which makes me in first place!
Monday the 8th of Dec. I weighed 220.5. Since then I’ve done a 36 hr fast and not ate much. Weighed 214.6 this morning. So far today all I’ve had was coffee, mountain dew zero and a protein shake. I’ll eat a salad tonight.
At the gym better get back to it. Would rather get back to a big whiskey drank and some KFC lol!!!
started retatrutide down 9lbs in a month without any suffering...gym 3x a week full body routine with heavy weights(4-10reps), on lifting days I do 10-15min on the assault bike trying to keep my HR in the 180s, on tue/thur I do sauna and 45mins of slow incline treadmill, and usually ride sunday and do a 5-8mile hike on saturdays or work.
starting weight 219
goal abs: dont care about the scale
I’ll play. 213 currently and would love to hit 190. Was on a tear last year and got close, but injury and losing my dad had me cornered. Pressing ahead and I appreciate the timing of this post!
I’m starting easy this week and focused on reestablishing habits rather than too strong of a start and petering out. Showing up is key. Full intro week of daily incline treadmill walking, then will be adding 3 days of the week full body weight training with a couple intense cardio, but also not neglecting those loooong zone 2 sessions to rebuild stamina.
I actually used chat gpt last year and it gave me a nice detailed periodization regimen tailored to my needs. Going to do that again. Favorite machines/exercises you may not have thought of: stair stepper, Jacob’s ladder, long incline treadmill walks, deadlifts, Bosu ball training, and stability ball core work.
Had a co-worker prep for a company weight loss contest by over-eating for several weeks and then drank a bunch of water right before the weigh in....He won..
Dang I'm too late. I'm 6', 1" and back in June this year I was 224. The heaviest I have ever been in my 69 years. I decided right there that was enough. Started working out more but the biggest thing was just cutting back on how much I eat (not what I eat) and not eating sugary snacks. Also I eat most days two meals. One light mid morning around 10:00 (I'm retired) then nothing until dinner (or super depends on where you're from). And eat dinner early like 4:00 - 5:00. Then I don't eat anything until the next day for my mid morning breakfast (usually Honey Nut Cheerios). This gives your body time to digest and eat a little fat during that 18 hour or so break. I also weigh myself every morning which I think is critical to weight loss. You can go up or down 3 pounds day to day so you have to monitor it. After doing this since mid June, I am down between 194 - 196 (this morning was 192.4). I seem to have stabilized now and can keep it in this range. It was hard the first month but now I'm use to it and it seems normal. I still weigh in every morning to make sure I stay here.
Years back at work we threw in 20 bucks a piece, 30 or 40 including a few customers. Everybody weighed on the scales in the shipping dept. One of our Customers won as I recall, seems like it was a guy from Shell oil. I think he lost 40 something pounds. I think I gained weight lol.
When it comes to the diet I have one piece of advice for when you're trying to lose weight, drop the protein shakes or liquid food/liquid diets in general. A big part of a sustainable weight loss is that you don't run around hungry all the time and liquid foods/shakes are rather high in calories but just don't fill up your stomach, resulting in becoming hungry again faster. Eat food that makes you full but is low in calories instead, specially protein/vegetables/carbs (yes, there is good carbs, as long as it's not processed sugar). Shakes are rather meant for weight gain/bulking.
I wish you guys all the best with your goals, that's a great thread!
In all seriousness wwdiii, that is some phenomenal and inspiring progress. I definitely need to drop a few. Or looking at it another way, gain a couple horsepower. (Ballparking 10 lbs. = 1 HP)
Already lost 50 pounds this year going carnivore diet. First time in my whole adult life I've been below 200 pounds. Been feeling so much better on and off the bike.
Man, that is fantastic!!!
We did something similar on a car forum 15 years ago and it was a huge hit. A lot of participants and i believe every person stuck with it and got results
I’m not like full blown brain fog but I can tell I’m a little off from not eating much. What I’ve ate has been low carb high protein.
Having to loose weight sucks! But a person is a danger sight healthier slimmed down no matter what age.
I just bought a Ride Engineering steering linkage for my 24 KX450. They recommend going up one spring rate, 2 if you’re fast A class rider, which I’m not. I figured dropping 20 pounds would save me from swapping to a higher rate rear spring lol!!!. I need to get that rear linkage installed, it came in earlier today.
Pit Row
219.1 this morning, currently eating pizza for lunch.... Now that baseball season is over and we have extra time my daughter and I will be getting to the gym regularly. 200 is current goal, but 180-190 is my long term goal.
Or looking at in a different way, you are gaining 2HP and saving $150.00 not having to buy a spring. Braaap!
I ran the Race Tech spring calculator for my 24 KX450. If I drop down to 200 pounds. I might have to drop down a spring rate lol. Hard to say with a Ride Eng rear link. Have to get it installed and run it.
All I really know is I’m freakin hungry!!!……..diets suck!!!
Turkish get-ups too! Great for mobility and grip strength (if you want it to be moto specific)
Ok I'll play. Hopefully this motivates me to try harder. I always hovered around 210. Definitely fat for my height of 5'8" (used to be 5'9"-1/2) I've lost an inch and half in height. My fattest ever was 225, that was 2 years after I ate shit in December 2020 (12-13-20, 5 years ago this Saturday actually) and didn't do a lot for 2 years. I recovered from that debacle and started riding an emtb in Jan 2023 and have been slowly dropping since then. This morning I was 204. So I've lost 21 pounds in 3 years... not exactly the result I was originally hoping for 🥴. My goal is to be one eighty anything by summer. 180 would be awesome. Anyway yes I'll play.
Sumdood Starting weight 12-10-25. 204lbs Goal - 180. Need to lose 24lbs.
weighed myself the other morning naked just after waking up. 99.9 lbs at 5'10''
You are not alone Sir in thinking the same type things..... All while I stare at my frozen pizza bubbling up in my oven. 2.5 hours after dinner.......
First off, op, you rock still motoing at 70.
I have teetered around 300 for 25 years.
Shot up to 315 last winter.
Had to get my bmi down before they would schedule my second knee replacement.
Got on zepbound and dropped about 30 lbs and feel so much better. Have kind of hit a plateau here lately, but it is winter and i am about 4 weeks post op on knee replacement. So not gaining is kind of a win right now
Will keep using zepbound for another 4 months to make it into spring and really work on making some lifestyle changes to lose more and hopefully not gain it back when i stop using it.
My motivation is not so much moto. With my broken down 62 yo body not sure i will ever get my old yz 250 or any other bike back on a track.
I do have a klr 650 i am shooting to take on some adventure routes with a hope to eventually do the TAT (trans american trail) and a bunch of bdr (backroad discovery routes).
Losing more would lessen the sprung weight, make tent camping a little easier and maybe help me ditch the cpap machine for sleep apnea.
All my house hold wants to eat is carbs and junk food. I asked them to stop getting me fast food and have kind of been doing my own meals and that has helped some.
In addition to adventure riding as a motivator, I am in a 12 year relationship that is circling the drain and might have to Jump back into whatever bs the dating pool has become. Figure dropping weight might help there.
Not sure what timeline this little contest will follow, but hey, count me in unless i have to pass a drug test. I am 6'2" and have big boned genes, so around 210- 220 is my eventual goal.
Side advantage is that if i can work my way down from 42 waist/3x shirts i may never have to buy another piece of clothing unless i get below 38/xl that have been stored for all this time.
Am I the only one that has done that?
I swear i will donate the ones that get too big.
It will kind of be my own " burn the ships" moment.
Starting weight 283
Ok, I will play along as well. My stats as of 2 mins ago......
5'7", plus 50 class, 158.8,,,,,gotta lose 10 by end of Jan. Goal is to keep waist at a 30.
The older I get, the harder it is to shed.....
Is Ozempic considered a PED in this contest? Asking for a friend 😁🤣🤔🤨
I lost 260 pounds. Do I win?
Maybe your friend can share the answer...lol
So, what wins?
Most weight?
Highest percentage of starting weight lost?
I want dad of a gun there to have a shot, but anyone on one of these glp-1 drugs can probably testify, these drugs are kind of like opiate pain killers. They can back things up a bit.
I swear every time i am a week into a dosage increase i could use a laxative for a couple days and lose 10 pounds.
Maybe we need a couple more classes:
1. Sheer willpower
2. Glp-1 assisted
3. Those giving up beer/tobacco/pot
