So i currently own a 2025 KX250 which is a great bike but with these beautiful 2026.5 KTM Factory editions being released im in a situation where I can choose one or the other
What would you choose ?
Absolutely love how stable and well the KX handles so hoping the KTM is similar
Obviously wish the KX was little faster
Poll
If you have the money to blow, fuck it get the new bike.
However, if you just want something a little faster, throw a couple $$ at the KX.
I have a Vortex ECU mapped by Twisted, PC exhaust, Twin Air airbox mod, and dripped airbox cover. The thing rips tbh. I’d say it makes it on par with a stock KTM power wise.
I wanna do HC piston next for a little more.
But don’t let me talk you out of a brand new bike!
The answer to the question of a new bike is always - YES
What is more important, handling and suspension, or power?
My 1st question is how many hours are on your KX?

I would have guessed the poll guessed the poll to be in favor of KTM, but only slightly. I guess a new bike is a new bike!
I don’t think you will be able to get the same stability and handling characteristics out of the KTM. If you love how the KX feels I’d stick to that. It would probably be easier to make the KX faster than to get the KTM to feel like the Kawi
By the time the ktm rolls into dealers kawi will probably have a $1-2k rebate on their 2026 bikes. At least that is how the last couple years have been. I’m not saying don’t get the ktm but you could get a kawi pretty cheap and mod it. I would probably still get the ktm but keep the significant price difference in mind.
That FE comes really nicely equipped. The Pro suspension, CUO, factory triple clamps, full Akro, and they look great. Other than maybe handlebars and maybe correct springs, there isn’t anything to do to that bike.
The only mod I need to do in that list now is the air box mod, do you recommend it ?
Hahaha thank you for the encouragement 😂
22 hours on the green machine
I do think the new factory edition is a good bad and maybe hold re sale value ?
Has it been rebuilt? Things like a New crank, Top End, Clutch, Suspension revalved or serviced ?
A New bike is all new.
I recommend it, but I don’t think you’re going to have that much of a noticeable gain, if at all from doing that mod. I know it helps get a little more air, and work well with the overall ECU package, but I doubt you’ll be able to tell much since you already have everything else.
How much do you weigh? I weigh right at 200lbs and when I went from a 51T to a 52T rear sprocket it was an absolute game changer for me.
Enzo T. On Team Green runs a 52T and he’s like 160lbs so don’t feel like it’s just a big guy thing running a 52T lol.
When KTM came out with their updated chassis in 23 with different squat characteristics, my perception is that the 250 started doing much better, while the 450 (with much higher torque) has faired worse. The most recent frame update seems to help the 450, but is it a coincidence they started having shock issues? Regardless, prior to 23 I just didn't see their 250 offering as that competitive, now they seem to be very competitive. Vialle and Hampshire have proven it's capable.
Get that FE for sure, thats a bad ass bike! Can always sell it and get a kx again
To my friend Craig, I am writing to let you know that the KTM factory edition is a superior motorbike in ev
ery way to the Kawasaki. Although the Kawasaki can be tuned to get fantastic power, that power will never be in the right place, not ever ! Also, after several weeks riding the Kawasaki, an odd thing happens, you get ill, and when the Doctors finally figure out the problem it turns out to be a rare disease called Quitlikeabitchitis. I have won several big races, and my choice would be the Penton, er, the KTM. I might also add that orange is a purty, purty color. Hope this helps you make an informed decision, as I always do. Your riding buddy, Jorge.
I think this is a pretty easy choice. If you have the funds, get the new FE.
Pit Row
I guess I’ll be buying the FE edition, deposit paid 😬
Have you ridden a 2025 or newer KTM 4 stroke yet?
Some guys have a hard time transitioning to the feel of the steel frame if they have been riding an Aluminum frame bike.
Had a 22.5 Rockstar FC250 with exhaust and XPR tuned vortex. Currently have a 25 KX250 with the Williams MotoWerx intake kit and full PC exhaust.
I have no complaints about this KX power wise with just these two mods. I did like the FC motor a bit more, it was very lively and pulled forever, it revved out harder than this KX, however I think with just those two mods on my KX it has more midrange grunt.
Having said that, as a long time KTM guy, the new Factory edition bikes have me interested as well, just don't think the ~7k it would cost to upgrade is worth it since the KX is pretty dang good.
I’ve decided to stick with my KX, unfortunately I just can’t justify spending another £6500, I’m going to buy the pro curcuit high compression piston and do a few other mods to settle my itch for buying a new bike
I’m sticking with my Kawi, couldn’t justify the £6500 for the factory edition so I’m going to do a few mods on the Kawi to settle my itch of wanting a new bike
I’m 182lbs, currently running the 52 and like it
I’m debating on buying xtrig triple clamps or the pro circuit triple clamps but unsure which ones to get ?
Fine decision Craigmx, any time you feel comfortable on a motorbike, that has to count as points toward keeping it. Not as sexy as a new bike purchase, however you also have to factor in the learning curve on a new bike, and then a few odds and ends to make it fit you correctly. However, the biggest challenge is the 1/2 season you will spend getting accustomed to the new whip, and figuring it out. Keep the Kwacker and get some parts and bling and still come out $$$ ahead !
