What are the chances of Seattle being a snowcross race with it being in February next year?

Can they race in the snow like they do in the mud or will it be delayed like they do for lightning?

It’ll be wet, but it won’t be snow.

Brrrrrrr....I've said it before but I will say it again...I miss going the first week of February to the Kingdome.

And, I think the "experts" are predicting a wet winter.

The thick haze of 2 stroke oil, the open pits, and awful beer.

Yeah, I think you're right. We did have a snowy press day at Denver I think a few years ago.

It doesn’t snow that often up there.

True, but if it does, it’s often in February. Can’t count the number of times I’ve thought we made it through winter and better weather was coming, only to get blasted by snow and ice in February.

I’m with Sandberm, I miss the Kingdome.

It snowed at SLC one year. I remember Pro Circuit finished 1,2,3 that race. So it was some years ago.

No matter what it will be miserable.  It usually juuuuust about cold enough to snow, but instead we get really fucking cold rain.  Dry snow would be better, but that doesn’t happen in western Washington.

In 1990ish there was snow the day of the Seattle SX, quite a bit even for the area.  But it is not common and definitely not common to get much.  Rain though...  Even if raceday is dry, odds are the dirt will already be saturated when brought in.  It will be a rutty soft track at best, cold for spectators at best and cold and wet at worst.  Events are actually fairly convenient for me since I can park in my office building and walk, but I'll be watching this one on TV at home.

Things a lot of people travel over mountain passes to catch that race, those passes get tons of snow and are notorious for closing and opening through out January and February…..

Two things, I miss the Kingdome too..  For the days when going to the Seahawks or Mariners games was actually affordable, but also I used to race amateur days for SX when it came to Seattle in the Kingdome every year, I think I almost died at least twice :D  We had zero business on that track.  LOL.

Second, any chance they moved this so early in the year because it may possibly be held in the Mariners stadium that has a roof?

Would be perfect to make the track a  SX Sand Track.

Instead it will be some moon ash looking dirt substance.

I liked the year it was held in May, after the tobacco ad ban nearly canceled it due to Camel’s sponsorship. Only year I wore shorts to the SX. Seems like 94ish?

No, Seahawks' outdoor field:

I don't think they will ever do the baseball stadium because they can't fit monster trucks inside.

Later in the year is better for weather. Queue this exercise for all rounds:

Seattle doesn't see a lot of snow. Another thing about that area is that it doesn't get the rainfall that everyone thinks, at least in total numbers. It just gets a lot of soggy/dreary days.

You're right about those passes Bobby. Snoqualmie pass can be treacherous!

If it snows, just take the bus to the stadium. 😃
