I haven’t seen any thread on this topic. Who’s at fault? Any thoughts?

Trump himself in 2011 and 2013 said if there is a government shutdown it's on the President. Kinda ironic that the last four shutdowns have been on his watch isn't it?

Didn't Trump say he had a great, big, beautiful healthcare plan for all in his first term that was far better than the A.C.A.? What happened to that? Seems implementing that back then could have avoided all of this.

EDIT: For the record I voted all involved as politicians love playing games with people's lives. Fuck them all.

They’re all at fault. This does not affect any of them. They’re all millionaires still making money, hand over fist. I work in a not so lovely environment, Federal Penitentiary, and no one is getting paid, but we’re all showing up for each other. If this goes on much longer, I know it’ll take a toll on some of my fellow staff members and families. I hope they all get their heads out of their asses.

A vast majority of the world’s problems are because of government. These people are the worst fuckers to ever live. Every single one of them. The government is and always will be public enemy number 1.

There’s no single individual or group of individuals to blame here. The problem is government. And government that is too involved in our lives.

These things they’re shutting down, these employees they’re not paying, should not even exist under federal authority. Federal government should play virtually no part in the lives of the people. The system itself is completely inept, redundant, and downright criminal.

We’ve given these scum too long a leash and they’re moving inhibited. We’ve given these losers too much faith, and they’ve led us astray. But remove them and nothing changes, only a new face. We must remove the institutions which legitimize their authority! Their power is invalid, they stand unaccountable to the people. They act only for their masters.

That is already forbidden by federal law, so who is holding out for benefits for illegal aliens?

Right now it’s not even about that, the dems wouldn’t vote to pass an extension. Thus shut it down.

Key Proposals / Legislation

HEAL for Immigrant Families Act

Introduced by Sen. Cory Booker, Rep. Pramila Jayapal, and Rep. Nanette Díaz Barragán. Cory Booker+2Barragan House+2

What it would do:
• Allow states to include undocumented immigrants in Medicaid and CHIP. Cory Booker+1
• Remove the 5‑year waiting period for lawfully-present immigrants for Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP eligibility. Cory Booker+1
• Let undocumented immigrants purchase health insurance via the ACA marketplace (and get premium tax credits and cost-sharing reductions) under certain terms. Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal+1

State‑level coverage expansions

Several states led by Democrats have expanded health programs to include undocumented immigrants (at least for certain benefits such as prenatal care, emergency care, or full Medicaid or Medicaid‐like coverage). Costs, eligibility, and benefits vary a lot by state. AP News+3Reuters+3CalMatters+3

Example: California expanded full Medi‑Cal coverage to all low-income adults regardless of immigration status. Reuters

Legal / Federal Constraints & What Is Not Part of Current Law

Under federal law, undocumented immigrants are typically not eligible for standard Medicaid, Medicare, the ACA subsidies (tax credits), or CHIP. The Guardian+1

Exceptions:
• Emergency medical care is generally required to be provided regardless of status under federal law (hospitals must stabilize patients in emergencies). AP News+1
• Some states use state (or local) funds to give more coverage than the federal baseline allows. CT Insider+2CalMatters+2

What Democrats Are Saying / What Advocates Push For

Remove waiting periods for lawfully present immigrants so that they can more quickly access programs like Medicaid, Medicare, CHIP. Cory Booker+1

Give states the option (or mandate in some proposals) to expand Medicaid or CHIP to include undocumented immigrants. Cory Booker+2Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal+2

Include undocumented immigrants in health care marketplaces with access to tax credits/cost reductions. Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal+1

Ensure emergency and prenatal care access for all, regardless of status. Many proposals emphasize preserving or expanding those.

Get rid of both parties. Eliminate the house, senate, congress and president.  Life would be so much better.

If you're trying to get rid of selfish idiots, you're going to have to go a bit deeper than congress. prez, etc.

I voted for everyone involved, but want to clarify that all of us are involved.

I voted the Dems (no surprise there) but they shoved shit down the throats of conservatives for decades. Now they don't like they're not in power. They are doing any and everything to stop progress. You might remember when Dems controlled everything. The famous quote "fuck them, we've got the votes". Dohh, now their eating their own words, they're ALL on video saying the government should never be held hostage and shut down. 🤔

The republicans control all three branches of government.

They can pass this without any Democratic votes by suspending the fillibuster.

They won't do it though, because when the health-care subsidies go away at the end of this year, and the Medicaid benefits dry up after the midterms, they can say 'It wasn't us! The Democrats voted for this in 2025'

Exactly, they did the same shit over and over are now crying wolf. That's the thing I'm trying to get at, it's pure hypocrisy all around.

Much like Trump saying it's on the president to resolve these issues in 2011 when there was a shutdown under Obama, again in 2013, and again in 2016 on his campaign trail, but now he is dodging all accountability by playing the finger pointing game as opposed to locking these fucktards in a room until there is a resolution. This is on him if we are using his own words, but maybe he was just joking back then? Who knows...

But the shut down isn’t about that. They were voting to extend the deadline, so they would have more time to work on everything so they could pass something thru.

The real distraction is that we will yet again extend the debt ceiling, even with republican controlled congress and presidency, with or without expansion to healthcare.

The filibuster needs to go. I realize that in some situations it serves a purpose, but when they are merely voting to extend a deadline ,neither party should be able to enact it.

They also changed the rules where they don't even have to actually filibuster. They just say they're doing it, and go home.

They should at least have to work for it a little.

Illinois got caught trying to say we only spent 450 million and they didnt get state medicade.

Well I know to many social workers to fall for that but they got caught using federal funds where tstar funds were earmarked and then floated tlstate funds to illegals and their Healthcare to the tune of 1.1 billion dollars 700 million more than they said we spent.

Thats how democrats do it and have been doing it for decades.

I agree 100%. The whole idea is to give smaller states a chance to get their say. But like everything else in the political arena it’s not used for the intended purpose, rather it abused for nonsense like this and many have to take it in the shorts.

Every time the government shuts down there should be impromptu elections to replace every member of congress
