Let this be a lesson to riders who have the leverage that it makes sense to include rider options for years 2+ in a multi-year contract, even if it means sacrificing some other guarantees.

Zero sympathy for Prado for expecting this to be a walk in the park out of his commitment to Kawi/Monster.

I guess the results that Prado gets on the KTM will tell it all.

Wrong! The results Sexton gets will tell it all. Prado's soft and wasn't even trying on the Kawi.

Different riders with different styles so it’s apples to oranges.  Not excusing Prado’s lack of effort. It was embarrassing. But if he comes out and wins in the KTM, then it will say a lot about how he (Jorge) vibed with the Kawi.

I agree, Chase seems to put a lot of trust in the front wheel, as we see with his "tuck the front" this generation Kawi has some of the most front wheel traction in the dirt bike world and most front wheel feel. I think he'll be fine, Prado will hop on a KTM and be fine as well.

100% correct. Chase rides hard no matter the set up and always gives max effort. Prado's style is quitting and whining.

IMO, Chase is a dangerous signing for Kawi right now. It's well documented he's a head case, We know how he complained about the Honda (Which Jett won on) and complained about the KTM (Which AP & RJ have ridden well on) now getting on the green bike which their star rider has complained about all year... If Chase isn't feeling' it, he can easily say "Prado was right- the bike is bad!" and it'll take Kawasaki years to recover.

Recover from what? There are still lots of green bikes in the pits.

They might find it hard to sign a top name for a few seasons if the bike is labelled the green pig.

The knock on effect in the amateur pits takes a little while to show.

Almost All the green bikes you see in the pits right now were purchased before Prado had his meltdown.

There’s plenty interviews of Chase professionally “complaining” about his bike. I wouldn’t even necessarily say complain, but after the interview you definitely catch his drift. This is absolutely nothing like Prado actually complaining though lol. More so just Chase stating he couldn’t push the bike, or uncomfortable with his setup tonight, couldn’t trust the front, etc. I’m not going to go find those interviews for you but they’re out there.

He didn’t make history in getting KYB inserts in a WP factory bike by not complaining about the equipment.

If that isn’t damning evidence, I don’t know what is..🤷‍♀️

I really struggle understanding how so many think Prado shit the bed, when his “embarrassing”, “lack of effort”, “quitting” style netted a 6th overall finish in what’s widely considered the toughest outdoor series in the world. No, he did not ride to his potential but so many racers would give their left nut for these results.

Anyway, carry on…

That's like Michael Jordan sitting on the bench as second string.  Sure most people will never have a shot at the NBA bench warmer or not, but that doesn't mean Michael Jordan should be satisfied by being a bench warmer.

I see this with older siblings often being satisfied with just being better than the younger siblings instead of reaching their full potential as well.

With all the riders that were out due to injury, he's lucky he got 6th!

Actually, he would have been lucky to be top 10. He was getting beat by privateers.

Yes, but you understand Prado was not satisfied… not with the bike, not with his scores. And we’re all left waiting to see what the next step will be.

Not for nothing, but there are quite a few solid 1-liners in here. As for Prado, we only have 2 more sleeps until we hear what's up!

You guys have got to stop with the 6th place BS. He was over 100 points back from 5th place and everyone that finished behind him had injuries or other issues. His average moto finish was 11th. His point accumulation was due to the fact he didn't ride hard enough to ever hit the ground. Let that last part sink in.

At this point I would just tell him if he doesn't want to pay the exit clause he can ride the bike next year, we have Chase and he will show the bike isn't a absolute pile if shit like you tell everyone. And he will make you look even worse and do more damage to what little is left of your reputation

I said he got beat by privateers, which he did. During the outdoors. I wasn't talking about points.

Never the less, he lucked into that 6th place finish. It sure wasn't due to his effort!

If Prado tries on the KTM, he will do better. That doesn't really tell us anything as far as a bike comparison, though.

Agree, but how pathetic is it for Prado when you have to add in the phrase "if he tries". He was stealing money this year from Kawi and Monster.

I actually think it would be very hard to prove.  You think prado has a record of every test day, every part or setting tested?  I bet kawi does, along with how many staff were utilized, hours spent exc.

You've been around,  its not like if he insisted he must be on Ohlins suspension kawi will give it to him.  From the outside though, the bits and pieces tickle would give, Taka would give,  the team worked about as hard as possible to make him happy.

His attitude was always, I should be winning , and if I'm not its the teams fault.

Agreed. It's going to be hard to Prado to get out of this one. I believe it also shows lack of character, responsibility and accountability to be trying to get out free of charge. Someone also mentioned he's trying to get Redbull to pay for it? That's ridiculous.

Also getting the setup "wrong' is not intentional negligence or lack of effort. And as it's been said many times in here Prado is also partially responsible for setting up the bike. The team will make tweaks on it based on his requests.

Kawi and Monster would not be worried about PR etc. They are global juggernaut organisations. Prado is just one of many athletes in their portfolios. And not a major one considering MX is niche. They will be around alot longer than Prado

Does character matter to brands? If so, is signing Prado a big risk for KTM?

Decoaster is still part of KTM group right? I just can't imagine, in my mind, Roger hiring a guy like that

What do you mean? Prado has been saying the whole time that the back isn't fast enough and the team has to do better.

If Sexton shows up at SX and wins one of the first 3 races (and he will) then that shows Prado was full of shit. If he goes outdoors and runs that bike onto the podium (and he will) it shows Prado is a joke.

Sexton is also a faster rider in every aspect of the sport, of course hes going to have better results then prado. Prado getting back on an orange bike and running up front would tell us he wasnt full of shit.

Would Kawasaki drag their feet on their eventual compromise to officially keep Prado from switching to KTM openly? He may be secretly riding a KTM somewhere, but being not able to attend off-season races openly would slow his readiness for '26. How will this end? Enquiring minds want to know!
