Its ridiculous they let him race for the Netherlands in the first place.
He is born in South Africa.

All the MXDN victory's they claim this way have a asterisk.

Whatever the real reason is for this selection should be made public.
Because now its just laughable.

Yeah it's a joke. Get rid of him.

Calvin has had a Dutch passport since he was 4 yrs old and has been living in the Netherlands for 14 yrs. He is 29 now so almost half his life has been in the Netherlands.

The whole point of the race is that you ride for the country you where born.

If I remember correctly there was some sort of bad feelings when the south african federation complained
he waved a flag on the podium without asking permision first.
Or something stupid like that.
And that ultimately led to him racing with a Dutch license from that point.

Its all just a shame, because team South Africa could put his talent to good use.

Where have all the people gone that kept saying Kenny should ride for the US?

Jeff Ward was born in Scotland.

Wardy was on a member of the USA Motocross Des Nations team and won 7 Des Nations titles.

Yes, I'd like for Vlaanderen to represent SA but he is also a Dutch citizen and had made his choice with whom to represent.

People bring up Wardy but his family moved here when he was 4 and he came up through the ranks racing here . I'm not sure of Vlanderan's situation.  If it's similar to Wardy I don't see an issue .  My opinion of course .

Calvin moved to the Netherlands permanently when he turned 15 to chase his dream of competing in the World Championship series.

He has been a Dutch citizen since four years old, so why can't he race for the Netherlands?

Anyways, good luck the Dutchies...they have a strong team.

What would he ride?

It’s a bummer, because he seems to be back on form.  I don’t see him beating Jett, but he’s in the mix for sure.

It really sucks we're being deprived of Jett racing Herlings.

Bottom line is you want the best three riders representing your country lining up to race!! The Netherlands have a good team but definitely are leaving one of the best riders on the planet off of the starting gate!! As fans we all want to see. Healthy Herlings race all the tiop guys and I seem to remember the guy knows his way around Iron man quite well!! Biggest losers In all this BS , are we the fans!!

When the officials in-charge of the team made their picks, they chose a heathy rider that was available…and the rider accepted and he’s going.

Period

I don’t expect you all to be PhDs in literature, but can you at least spell the madre-fornicator’s name right?

I wonder how Coldenhoff will do. Sounds like he wants to finish his career in the US outdoor series and doesn't have a ride yet. Lots of motivation for him

I could see him with HEP Suzuki or ClubMX Yamaha (Outdoors only). Or maybe with Triumph, alongside Haarup, eventually (450).

I still have hopes Herlings will be picked over Vlanderen at the last minute...but we are already monday...Vlanderen needs to step down, it is a shame Herlings is not riding at Ironman

Why Vlaanderen and not Coldenhoff? Calvin has better results lately.

If KTM wasn’t the issue, then Herlings had already been on social media gaining some support. But he’s really quite as well..

It probably makes sense to the manager of the Dutch team, who made this decision. lol

My guess is that KTM is not supplying a bike for Herlings. Otherwise the swap would've been made and i think Calvin would've understood it.
Either way, it fucking sucks.

As a Dutch guy, i don't even care that much.  He has proven himself a lot of times, let him have his time of.

The dutch federation, Herlings, Vlaanderen have nothing to do with this decision. It seems it's all about KTM.

How sure are you about that? because Herlings is racing his KTM weekend after so in that case they would have forbidden him to ride his actual MXGP race bike since i assume he is racing locally on a practice bike, or possibly separate local race bike.

I doubt a few thousand Euros in shipping Herlings bike is the issue. Adamo is there, Coenen. Plenty of bike options including him just taking the bike he rides on weekend after over there and a practice bike as backup.

We'll see. Herlings will probably speak about it in a few weeks (or months?)...

The Netherlands team are already in the USA practicing. Don't know who their reserve rider is.
