Deegan is now doing damage control. I think he wants to be a hero and all will be forgiven if he helps pull off an American victory. What is the cut off point for JCoop to race? Say he wreck in practice the morning of raceday, is JCoop still up for it or is it too late?

Something else I wondered was who would Roger have picked? Would he have just told Deegs no, not risking it, we're going with JCoop?

I believe as soon as a rider is on track that's it, he can't be replaced. So if Deegan rides practice, doesn't feel 100% and pulls out, JCoop can't do anything but watch.

Unless I understood wrong they said they can put Cooper in if that happens on the blair matthes.

"Stupid pu$$y wont ride cause he just had surgery"

"stupid jerk shouldn't ride cause he just had surgery"

Have i missed anything?

nope, you didn't miss anything lol. wouldn't go cuz he had to have surgery last year, will go this year after surgery.

Oh, right... Last year when he raced all season while needing that surgery, then couldn't put it off a week or 2 to do MXdN. That's not different at all to this year where he just had surgery and is putting himself in a vulnerable position and will not be 100%.

Yes, I'm absolutely certain, this time, it's about pride and representing our country... Nothing selfish (and stupid) at all.

Honestly if it wasn’t so expensive I’d say an alternate every year is a smart move. But the scenarios I’m thinking of (Jmart, AP in 18) it wouldn’t have helped much

I think it would be amazing if Deegan has surgery and then goes and represents America for zero pay. Seems like I’m the only one with this opinion but he’s a 19 year old kid. You guys don’t remember the dumb shit you did at 19? You guys just road your dirt bikes and didn’t do anything retarded or dangerous? Amazing

To be clear, my plans were canceled weeks ago, nothing to do with this, I'm just less sad about it now.

Not just you. Sometimes I think the Deegan's have a narrative they play for the notoriety.

I’m absolutely certain this is damage control. If it goes well he’s the hero and if it doesn’t he has the heart and gave it all for his country-and every step of the way will be filmed and I’m sure the MXON merch is already being printed. If he didn’t make a complete ass out of himself in Vegas he’d be sitting this one out again.

100% Cooper over 80% Deegan all day.  We’ve seen this before.  Nobody has been 100% coming off the collarbone surgery.

I hope he’s the exception, but I personally would avoid the risk.

If we were talking about a 450 I would say a 100% cooper over an 80% Deegan but this is a 250 we’re talking about id still choose Deegan and deegans ability to rise to the occasion and pressure has been unmatched in his career so far plus trying to win all the whiners over from last weekend hopefully it’s a great race

Fellas,  from where I sit I don't think there's anything Deegs or his camp can do that will cost them any bandwagon fans or more importantly, money.

Their approach is making them bank and they're good at it.  Asking them to change makes no sense to them and makes us sound stupid.

And that's ok...plenty of other riders to support.   I do hope he just rides his ass off at the Nations and doesn't embarrass Eli or RJ.

Yeah that’s great and all but you can’t tell me it doesn’t bother them being considered the biggest tools in the pits every weekend - how could it not.

That is probably the case normally but under the current circumstances with a broken collarbone, that’s not necessarily the case.

This is nothing more than a PR stunt for the Deegans. They are going to talk about how he gritted it out for his country. If it doesn't go well they will fall back on his collarbone. Truth be told, he didn't need to grit it out as most of us would rather have Jcoop. The fact they told Jcoop he would be on the team and now renege on the offer is complete bullshit IMO. The only guy that raced all 31 rounds you put on standby for a guy who nearly got himself black flagged at the previous race. I would like to hear Mike Pelletier speak on why this is the way it went. Looking at Jcoop's Instagram post comments you can see how everyone in the industry feels about this.

JCoop dropped a 9-4 at his last MXoN completely destroying the MX2 class.  I’m more comfortable with the known than the recently injured unknown.

So the guy who fines and gives out the penalty for Deegans antics is the same guy who reselected Deegan after being penalized and injured... hahahaha Politics

He had the last two years to prove he was the best 250 rider in the world and this year he’s coming in injured. Hard to say he’s the best in the world.

JCoop has a better record than RJ, although RJ exceeded expectations this year. I am guessing they are doing it because RJ said he WON'T ride a 250 and JCoop will as a backup rider. AMA reneging on Cooper in favor Deegan is wrong. If they told Cooper he was in - then he's in.

I did watch the AMA nationals this year. And last year. And the year before that. I did not see de Wolf, Coenen, Langenfelder or any of the other WORLD 250 riders out there with Deegan this summer. I would like to see how he stacks up against the rest of the world.
