After getting to know and fully understand the Ukraine/Russia Military and Economic situation and, after seeing the Economic trouble it is causing Russia, I think Ukraine, with the support of the European Union, is in a position to fight and WIN all of Ukraine back in its original form. With time, patience, and the financial support of Europe and, in particular, NATO, the original Borders from where this War started, is very much an option. Why not? Russia has been fighting aimlessly for three and a half years a War that should have taken a Real Military Power less than a week to win. This is not distinguishing Russia. In fact, it is very much making them look like “a paper tiger.” When the people living in Moscow, and all of the Great Cities, Towns, and Districts all throughout Russia, find out what is really going on with this War, the fact that it’s almost impossible for them to get Gasoline through the long lines that are being formed, and all of the other things that are taking place in their War Economy, where most of their money is being spent on fighting Ukraine, which has Great Spirit, and only getting better, Ukraine would be able to take back their Country in its original form and, who knows, maybe even go further than that! Putin and Russia are in BIG Economic trouble, and this is the time for Ukraine to act. In any event, I wish both Countries well. We will continue to supply weapons to NATO for NATO to do what they want with them. Good luck to all!

It's almost like everyone has been saying all of that for the last two years...

Lets be clear. Ukraine isn't taking all it's land back right now though unless something pretty dramatic happens. The Russians have an incredibly deeply fortified line of defense which is heavily mined, covered by artillery and with cover from a shit-load of drones. Not to mention a couple hundred thousand troops. The only way that happens is if there's a coup in Russia or NATO airpower moves in, the former being more likely than the latter while both are unlikely on current evidence. I dunno where the Donald is getting his info from but there's more than a bit of optimism in that statement.

As a grandiose narcissist, I wonder if he really thought he was going to end the war in his first 24 hours?

Hard to tell…

It appears to me he does what ever Bibi tells him to do.

Ukraine's ability to defend it's borders on their own is almost zero. It's true  now  and has been since the beginning, that Ukraine could defend it's borders with help from European NATO countries. And I don't mean just giving them weapons. Like you said, If they they were to actually lend air support, Russia could be pushed back.  It's Europe's problem and cheer leading from the sideline will not get it done.

I wish I knew more about what's happening on the ground in Russia. A coup would almost certainly have to come from within the military and you would think that it be for the purpose of ending this. If I believe the info, Russia has suffered immensely from this war but then again, they always do. Win or lose.

The reason for Trump's 180 is up for grabs. My guess is that he has finally gotten the hint that Putin is not his friend. Nor is he a bootlicker. So fuck him We hate him now. In my opinion his 180 is all about Trump. Which everything usually is with him.

I hope Europe steps up.

Give it 48-96 hours and Putin will give him a call.  He'll reverse this stance pretty quickly.

One thing I've observed over the years about Trump. His words are never to be taken literally, he's always posturing with his words for something he wants. Once you figure out what it is he actually wants, you realize he's pretty successful getting his goal.

Has been like that for a good good while.

Love the A-10 but its antiquated tech makes it vulnerable. Would not want to fly a Hog into situations with even moderate AA capabilities. And Russia has very good anti-aircraft capabilities.

I don’t blame him for trying. Russia is not the military might we thought, but they may be desperate and they have Nukes. If I’m watching ICBM’s get launched, I’d hate to say did someone at least try diplomacy.

It’s been argued that the Hog should be utilized in Europe where it has a current use in a current war.

That’s been argued in the open.

It’s been updated with avionics, Weps, guidance & comm’s systems that keep it current. It’s a force to be reckoned with when it comes to CAS and low-level/over the battlefield/in-conflict FAC. It’s been updated to the point it’s actual scheduled retirement is 2035.

The Geniuses in Charge & some of their lackeys in Congress continue to spew that the F35 will take the A10s roll…

Uh, no.

Not even the B model (Marines version) has shown the ability support the A/OA rolls of the Hog…and the B model is suppose to be the CAS variant.

We’ve been told time and time, again, that the Hog and its roll are outdated…yet…EVERY time we go to war…that damn plane proves to be worth its weight in gold. Every…damn…time.

In the mountains and valleys…it kicks ass.

Worked around it quite a bit from the ‘80s thru the late 2000-teens. Since leaving the ME, just see things about it on defense trade publications and what-not and the occasional flts out at the test range…as seen just a week ago. Was involved in a few of the up-fits. Great aircraft. It’s as “survivable” as a modern a/s can be.

Been working in the industry since 1984.

But, no worries. Sling your shit whilst not knowing a damn thing. It’s what you do. Your King must be so proud of you.

Have a Nice Day🙂

Yes to the above, but Hog still requires AA suppression to minimize crew risk.  It was designed for CAS where friendly and enemy combatants were in close proximity (ie Afghanistan) with minimal/no radar-guided SAM threat.  The Hog also lacks air-to-mud delivery systems found on 4th and 5th gen platforms.

Like my beloved A-6E, and Warthog’s era is over.

The Hog has received the newer ID systems (Remember IFF in your Intruder? Those systems are benefiting from amazing new tech including AI) that allow it to fly into hot zones of friendly AA in the modern theater. Integrated Flight & Fire Control Systems, Helmet Integration Systems, Comm’s and Nav systems have all been brought along in order to allow the A10 to integrate into the modern theater. Also, it’s moved beyond basic Link 16 and has also had continued AN/AAQ updates. We’ve come a long way since Pave Penny and “lobbing to the dot”…🤣

You make a good point about Gen 4-5 capabilities and that has been a driver for keeping the Hog up to date. All a/c in the modern theater MUST be integrated or they can’t be out there.

The programs to keep it up to date enables the Hog to fly thru 2035. They need to find a mission replacement for it. As we can currently see…the mission still exists. Whether or not it’s a manned mission will surely be a hot topic.

I miss the Intruder. I miss the Skyhawk. Hell…I miss the Tomcat. I even miss the Viking…that was THE BEST way to get back to the ship 💪🏻

Would love to see the A10 tearing up Russian metal in Ukraine!
