I’m just saying it how it is. I’d love the super duper cross to be the best but let’s be honest, it isn’t. I got piled on for saying AMA motocross and supercross aren’t the pinnacle of the sport, but watching this SMX ‘World Championship’ proves the point. On the broadcast we’re told by Ricky it’s a ‘huge crowd,’ yet the stands look half empty. The racing isn’t exactly gripping either: two Aussies with only a few years of SX experience are on top, and a German who barely rides anymore comes off the couch and takes runner-up.

Add in last week’s track that was a joke, a 250 class that’s a snore fest with Deegan in a league of his own, and then compare it to world motocross where battles go down to the wire — it’s hard to call this the sport’s true pinnacle
