I rode a stark and a clutch would help me. I reached for it a few times in turns to control the corner, but alas it wasn’t there.
I use the clutch a lot through turns.im sure many of us do.

I'd like to ride one to verify, but I don't think a clutch would do much for an electric bike. You use the clutch on an ICE machine to meter out the power or help disengage it so revs can build. With electric, the revs aren't required for full torque.
I use it to lean more or less mid corner, and tighten up the arc mid corner. I keep the throttle steady and manipulate it with the clutch. It’s nothing to do with peak torque or revs it’s just about control.
It would be nice to be able to meter the power for a little more control.
I rode one with a left-hand rear brake, which gave the same sensation of power modulation that a clutch would. Just hard on the braking system, no doubt.
You don't need that on electric though, in that situation all you'd need to do is ease off the throttle a little bit and you would achieve the same effect.
I haven't ridden this clutch personally but I'm very skeptical of any "clutch" on electric. In my experience with the others I've tried it isn't the same sensation as you get from a traditional clutch on a gas bike because there is no mechanical flywheel or crank inertial behind it.
Except it’s 10000s of hours of riding that way… I don’t need to do it on a gas bike either, all I have to do is roll off the throttle… it’s what works best for me…?
I thought this too. It was a buddies bike but after three laps I was use to it and ready to ride comfortably. I also burned up 30% on three laps so that confirmed the battery isn’t ready for my fat ass.
I rode a stark on an enduro track, no you don't 'need' a clutch but the way I ride I really do. I use a lot of flywheel weighting and modulate the power almost all the time with the clutch. My clutch control and ability to put down power with it is one of my biggest strengths as a rider so it sucked to lose that. Although the stark would need a full redesign to be able to have a flywheel effect, similar to some electric trials bikes which have clutches, gearboxes and flywheels
The only time I would ever maybe want a clutch on my Stark is if I got sketchy in a rythym section or whoops, which most people don't have to worry about. I cased a triple in pretty hard and had a little mini-whisky throttle as my body absorbed the shock. You have to be kind of disciplined in shutting down the throttle fully.
I rode a Stark. Great bike. But I’d still prefer it with a clutch. It’s a lot easier to get a burst of power to pick the bike up via a 2mm movement of a clutch lever compared to rotating your wrist.
Do you ride a two stroke and a four stroke in the exact same way, or do you adjust how you ride them in order to maximize the advantages of each platform? E-bikes are no different, some people adapt to them more easily than others, but I don't think a simulated clutch is going to react in the way that you're picturing. I'd be more than happy to be proven wrong if I ever get the chance to try one of these out, but in my experience any clutch on electric just isn't what people intuitively expect it to be.

I can’t find the video but I remember the electric trials bikes having a clutch and some sort of flywheel that build up the torque or power giving them huuuuge torque/acceleration.
While a stark has all the torque available, it’s delivered through a predetermined torque curve. For example when you set the power low it can be difficult to instantly pop the wheel up or pivot yet it’s more tractable. Some sort of clutch system would allow both.
an e clutch wouldn’t work though it would have to be physical… although more rotating parts would make the bike feel heavier so I dono… maybe an e clutch if it’s more than a disengager would do the work, I could see like a power bar that builds up on the dash with the clutch in and release at the perfect time gives you maximum points. Could be good

Sorry, no, I spoke to a guy who rode tight single trail mostly on a stark. 80hp was way too much 95% of the time, but 40hp (which was perfect 95% of the time) wouldn’t allow him to pop the front up over logs and such and such.
While technically you can get all the torque from a standstill, there’s clearly a ‘power curve’ — and a clutch obviously allows you to modulate a power curve to be more or less linear

It's not a clutch. It's not even remotely close to being a clutch. It's closer to a fancy potentiometer than a clutch. They just chose to call it that for familiarity.
Did anyone get a picture of you dragging the bars on the Stark?
Never ridden a stark, but the idea of no clutch made the bike a definite no go for me.
As stated above, I wouldn't need the clutch for the normal reasons, but holy hell a clutch has saved my ass from dying so many times. I would 100% want it for all of my "oh shit!" moments. It would help keep me away from the hospital.

I want a clutch on the E bike I will eventually get, and, I'd like a gearbox. Simple as that.
My Epure Race model (Trials with a clutch) is several years old and this new release is very nice!! At this time of my lfie (74) the oine I have is perfect for fooling around.

On my stark I really don’t need a clutch for faster paced riding, think like motocross or GNCC. But the moment I switch to hard enduro riding that is slow and technical a clutch becomes a must, popping the front wheel very high up and back down in very small constrained areas is impossible without a clutch.
I’d get one if the lever wasn’t so small. Not sure why they decided to make a $1,400 clutch system with a Temu lever.
Why couldn't an e-clutch modulate the torque curve based on the clutch release speed and throttle position? Dump the clutch -- instant torque at whatever curve is an equivalent to that torque curve on a mechanically clutched bike.
Exactly. The Stark has 80hp available, the ecu map is probably well below that limit. The ecu could be mapped to boost the power output when the clutch is used (depending on the throttle position) thus emulating a mechanical clutch. However, the trick is accessing the ecu software...
On a side note, I'm selling lots of CFMOTO CFX2E and CFX5E electric minibikes. They are incredibly powerful (the 5E is similar to a 65cc motocross mini). I'm going to make a virtual clutch using a potentiometer in-line with the throttle wire.
I wanted to reverse engineer the ecu software to play with the map and add a virtual clutch function but haven't been able to suck the code out of the ecu. Can't find any info on the ecu either...
Word is the CFMOTO full sized electric mx bike is coming soon. I will have a demo at the shop and plan on flogging it like a fat redheaded stepchild every weekend. This is going to be fun!
