I still think Eli is the best choice. JCoop is making a strong case though.
If you’re thinking JCoop. Eli beat him at all but 3 races? One his bike blew up.
Dude… you could have posted the exact opposite thread last week😑
Take into consideration that jcoop isn’t a huge fan of Ironman and or doesn’t do well there

His starts do need some help lately, but who could you replace him with? Coops MXON results don't compare.
Consider what Tomac had to gain today. I know the guy has a huge heart and wants to win but he is smart and knows that SMX Playoffs are two weeks away. He will hang it out in those three races for the money and I believe we will ride with a ton of heart at MXdN because I think it means something to him.
I’m more concerned about Chase than Eli at this point. I really hope Chase is in a good headspace going into it because our team needs him to be at his absolute best.
Dude Tomac recently got both holeshots for the first time in his career. His starts have improved greatly.
I think it’s just Eli seeing the season out safely, he had 3rd on lock and nothing to gain. Motivation won’t be a problem at MXdN, especially on home soil.
Meanwhile RJ has the picture of consistency
Chase, Eli, jcoop, rj...... draw two names out of a hat and let them rip. Anyone claiming they know which two of those guys are most likely to put a solid weekend together isn't being honest. Chase and Eli both won't go if their heart isn't into it or they think there's a better option, so if they say they're in that's good enough for me.
It’s disrespectful to say either one of Chase or Eli shouldn’t be going. Some of you complain when guys sit out, then turn around and complain when they’re all in. Then wonder why guys are apprehensive to even go when “fans” bicker over whether or not they deserve to go or if they’re the best option. Maybe just be thankful that we get to have some ridiculously bad ass dirt bike riders represent our country?
Crazy to say RJ and consistency in a sentence but you're right. He turned a new chapter on the 450.
Nuts isn’t it. but. Eli could and should show up big time for that race. I think the entire race boils down to the 250 rider. And we have the best 250 rider
Tomac seems to be in one of his, "maybe I'll do good, maybe I won't" modes, and who knows which version will show up at the MXdN.
Having said that, Tomac stepped up so he gets my support.
Depends on who Australia puts there. They could put Jett or Hunta on a 250 (Jett would be epic) and they would be up front. Kyle has been fast on the 450 and as Jett said, one good moto is all they need from him.
Inform me on what place Eli got at ironman. If I recall correctly, mxon is at ironman, not budds creek.
If your weakness is Eli… that’s one hell of a team to have. Eli. Chase. Haiden plus you get to throw away the worst moto. Which there could potentially be no bad moto.
That team scares the shit out of me as an Aussie. Deegan on the 250 is huge for them.
They showed last year that Jett and Hunter on 450s and Webster on the 250 works, why would they change it?
RJ, decent starts and quietly consistent. He's really gotten it together here at the end.
Pit Row
Tomac will make the right choice if needed.
Because last year Australia had some luck go their way in the MX2 class. Probably won't happen again. Kyle would be great in the open class, Jett MXGP, Hunter in the MX2 class. Seems like winning combo to me.
I’ve thought about this because initially last year i had a similar opinion to you.
But all things going well, Jett is likely to win MX1 and Hunter’s a chance to win Open. If that happens, or they at least podium in their respective classes, one moto top 5 in MX2 could be enough to win outright; it was last year.
If you go with the option of Hunter in MX2 (putting Jett, arguably the FMOTP right now in MX2 would be ridiculous), you can’t expect him to win the class, but he’d likely do better than Webster.
Which leaves you relying on Webster to get results only slightly worse than you’d expect from Hunter in Open. Given Webster doesn’t race either MXGP or AMA full time, I don’t think that’s fair. He has enough pressure to deliver in MX2 as it is.
And the only luck Webster had go his way last year, was the one position gained in moto 1, to finish 2nd in the class, when Coenen crashed out.
Regardless of all that, anything can, and will, happen at MXdN, that’s why it’s the best race of the year.
People have put forward this theory before but it still makes no sense.
Right now Team Australia would be expecting, not unreasonably, Jett 1-1 and Hunter probably 3-3 or 2-4. That’s eight points from the 450 guys. Let’s say Chase gets 2-2 and Tomac 4-4. That’s 12 points from your 450 guys. I think it’s unlikely Deegan gets a top 5 against the 450 guys (and if he does it’s likely to displace one your 450 riders). So say a 6th in one moto for 18 points. That means Webster needs a 10th in one moto for 18 points for Australia.
Webster on a 450 isn’t going to break top five and either Jett or Hunter on the 250 will have the same problem. Throwing away those highly likely top 5 scores from the Lawrences makes no sense.
On paper the US is a slightly stronger team in my opinion so Australia will need something good from Webster (or some mishap from USA) to finish on top.
100%, but let’s not forget others like Holland, France or Belgium. There’s some really strong teams in the mix, but the US at home have to be favourites.
Tomac will be fine. I’m more curious why Webster rode in the 450 class and not the 250 since he’s been racing in the states?
I think if Tomac can beat Hunter, that's all we can ask for to put USA in a good spot.
Everybody’s down vote fingers should be twitching , because my opinion is that Eli and Chase are the more questionable members of the U.S. team. They both are leaving their respective teams, Chase has been off the bike, and Eli has not been at his best. BTW, I am a huge fan of both of these gentlemen, just wondering which version of each rider will show up. Let’s go USA ! !
