Just took a look at the moto 2 results from both series 450 class yesterday.
Just 36 seconds covered 1st - 10th in MXGP, while AMA 450 the spread was 1.34 !!
Jett & Hunter are quite possibly the best in the world right now, but MXGP seems to have the depth.

This should go well…
It's a lot closer when there's only 18 on the gate. Nice troll......
Different tracks,nothing else!
Errr… no. How does that work??
The Shop
Luxon 4-Post Bar Mounts
$189.95 - $239.95
DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
Tracks make big difference and it's not always this close
Hunter and Jett arent on the gate.
What's amazing is how many people try to convince themselves that what you're saying is true.
Imagine if Jorge was still there. 😂
In the previous 4 motos in Belgium and Czech Republic 10th was over a minute back .

Check out this thread for a real world statistical comparison . I enjoy both for what they are .
The Swedish track was like the vet track at Cahuilla compared to Unadilla. No comparison. Plus 28 racers vs 40.
The AMA would be a helluva lot more competitive if Jett stayed in Europe.
Seriously though. Anyone that thinks that prepping every track exactly the same (deep and wet) in the US leads to more competitive racing is wrong.
Take them away and let`s say Tomac won. 10th would be Prado with 1:38 behind...
Nice cast Homer….
You are a dork! 😂
A more accurate headline would be something to the effect of how competitive MXGP was this weekend.
Durrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Pit Row
Should be interesting to see how Vialle does in MXGP if he does actually wind up there, I've got him pegged for top fives at best.
32 actually
All the gap from 1st to 10 in MXGP this year
+1.05.489 = Argentina moto 1 (Jonass)

+1.13.166 = Lommel moto 2 (Watson)
+52.273 = Sweden moto 1 (Guadagnini)
+36.969 = Sweden moto 2 (Jonass)
Moto 2 yersteday was the smallest gap all season between 1st and 10th, and the gap changes A LOT depending on track and conditions.
+36.969 = smallest gap (Sweden moto 2)
+3.20.030 = biggest gap (Cozar moto 1)
+1.14.722 = average gap
Here is a comparison with the USA this year :
+1.30.208 = Fox Raceway moto 1 (Guillod)
+1.37.106 = Fox Raceway moto 2 (Savatgy)
+1.17.996 = Hangtown moto 1 (Savatgy)
+1.13.406 = Hangtown moto 2 (Stewart)
+1.52.381 = Thunder Valley moto 1 (Stewart)
+1.54.878 = Thunder Valley moto 2 (Stewart)
+1.50.614 = High Point moto 1 (Schock)
+1.24.610 = High Point moto 2 (Paturel)
+1.34.907 = Southwick moto 1 (Barcia)
+1.59.627 = Southwick moto 2 (Stewart)
+1.35.150 = Red Bud moto 1 (Anderson)
+1.34.024 = Red Bud moto 2 (Stewart)
+1.33.081 = Spring Creek moto 1 (Guillod)
+1.43.136 = Spring Creek moto 2 (Cairoli)
+1.46.578 = Washougal moto 1 (Harrison)
+1.31.060 = Washougal moto 2 (Guillod)
+1.38.333 = IronMan moto 1 (Harrison)
+1.42.113 = IronMan moto 2 (Schock)
+1.16.168 = Unadilla moto 1 (Stewart)
+1.34.827 = Unadilla moto 2 (Guillod)
The gap looks more consistent with more similar tracks and conditions.
+1.13.406 = smallest gap (Hangtown moto 2)
+1.59.627 = biggest gap (Southwick moto 2)
+1.36.502 = average gap
So the average gap is 22 seconds more in the US.
It looked like a fun track. But man, it looked tiny for a GP track
I would say there is 3 reasons behind this 22 seconds delta :
1/ tracks are bigger and faster in USA, providing a bigger gap between the leaders and the field while in Europe tracks are usually smaller and it is harder to go fast on them, so that shrinks the gap.
2/ The top 10 racers in the USA could be (for this 2nd point it is a big "if" this year because the level is quite good in the pack as well compare to 2023 for example) slower than the top 10 in MXGP. I'm not sure that Malcolm, Barcia and Harrison are as good as Geerts or Pancar for example.
3/ the intensity in the front in the USA is higher, because of the track but also the duo Jett/Chase is very very fast. Don't get me wrong, Lucas, Romain and Jeffrey are no slouch either, but it is not a long shot to say that Jett is the best in the world today and everybody trying hard to beat him at the front makes the gap with the rest bigger. Geerts or Horgmo (even if there is a huge gap there as well) are closer to Romain and Lucas than Malcolm and Justin B. are to Jett. And also, there is a higher chance to see Jett being able to win in MXGP against Romain, Lucas and Jeffrey, than seeing one of those three winning in the USA.
When you have a more technical open fast track that has 2:20+ lap times and attempt to compare it to a much slower tighter less technical track that has 1:50 lap times or 30 seconds….the gaps will always be greater on the faster longer tracks as it allows for more separation.
In what way do you consider the national tracks more technical than GP tracks? (this is a friendly question, not a passive aggressive one). I´m not saying I disagree or agree, just wondering what the matrix is?
