This isn't 1996 - these days none of the top riders (or even the non top riders) have a problem with big jumps in either series.

I know. Guys on 65s would jump it.

In 2018 didn’t the US riders take all wk end to hit Lorrocos Leap as conditions were a little bit soft.

Where as Paulin, Hoff etc hit it first lap ?

Did they make that massive tabletop with the monster energy sign smaller too? Just doesn’t look as big as its been the last few years

Wow, they neutered that track. Ironman's big jumps were part of what made it so cool. One of the few tracks that could naturally have them like that.

Who's call was it actually to make those changes, and what's the actual reason? Is it infront/fim?

I don't buy into the idea that mxgp guys can't hit big jumps. At this point, both series are on equal ground, minus 1 or 2 guys, and depending on who is and isn't hurt.

They f!cked this track up. It reminds of riding fire roads in northern Michigan now. There is nothing technically challenging, just one constant mode of keeping the bike in a certain attitude. Slippery  rutty snot on top of hard pack. I'm sorry I can't help it.

It really is just an oversized blind jump.  I would never have done it even when I was young and crazy but it doesn't seem to faze today's riders.  The view at the top is insane really.  Kind of iconic...sad if it's gone.

What's the old saying? Jump for show, corner for dough.

They have that entire tree line to the left that they could "cut" into and make amazing grandstands and VIP section on that side of the track. It would cost money to remove the timber, but you could utilize it for structures and make it badass over on that side.  Then put back the rightful jumps and those VIPs get cool air time all day long

Slippery snotty is the new prep I guess. We see it almost every week, I don’t get it.

Weege show he just stated it as fact that it was done to make room for more spectators in prep for anticipated mxon crowd.

I was pissed in 2018 at Red Bud when they built a huge mound at the base of Laroccos Leap. The Hoff pulled a holie and proceeded to huck it on lap 1 in spite of the stupid mound of dirt lol!

GP riders can’t jump, where do they come up with this shit 😂

As for Ironman, I just hope the new track races well.

Ironman is usually one of my favourite tracks to watch. Pretty shocking how much less enjoyable it is this year with the changes. What a shame

Still better than most tracks but not as good as used to be. Also that tree on the outside of that corner looks ripe for the pickings…

I was at MXoN 2022. There were guys from small country's that had really no business being on that track out there with Tomac and Prado. There are forum members that are faster then some of the guys these country's are sending over for this race. There was a guy jumping half way on the back table before the banked corner. And the run up to the back triple, oh my god, the speed discrepancy was INSANE.

IF you guys saw this in person I think you might have a bit more of an understanding.

They dont air the eliminations on TV, there are ALOT more country's there on qualifying day that dont make it to race day.

It is the Olympics of motocross. that means the level of competition is WIDE. like the Jamaican bobsled team.

They screwed it up. Not only did they butcher it but they added a bunch of wet mulch. It looks as snotty as Lake Elsinore. Who approved this nonsense?

What would be the reason for removing the Godzilla jump? That was one of my favorite parts of the track. Hoping its back for MXoN.

I’m still pissed they got rid of the MASSIVE uphill triple that used to be directly next to godzilla. When herlings raced at ironman that was when the track was at its best and imo was the best track on the entire circuit. The way they used to launch up godzilla, jump back down, then turn and HUCK the triple right back up was fucking aweseeeesome.

The track is still ok but its kind of simple now and its not as good as it used to be. Its really unfortunate because this track was the epitome of big dick huge jump american mx tracks and now its just average.

Odd they'd make more VIP room in a boring section.

It would make more sense to build something where they could watch a cool section.

Yep that was my point before. The GP riders showed the US ones how it’s done. They are not afraid of big jumps

You don’t remove big jumps for less experienced riders. We all know those people will rule themselves out of the danger because they won’t attempt it.

8/9/2025 5:18pm

Totally lame ! I hope they get their shit together for the Mxon ! Bring back the jumps !

Maybe just maybe it’s a way to not give AMA rider so much home advantage, come MXON things will be built up again.

Any track that has straight line ruts is prepped wrong.  If you want to know how to prep a track look at Millville this year.  Zero ruts.

Track gets worse every year. not even the same track anymore. if you miss a few years and go back there, you hardly know how to navigate the property. I have been going since the first year in 2014. and it just keeps getting worse in my opinion. 2017 was peak layout. It’s like they are purposely making less places to view. unless you wanna stand around with 5,000 other people in one of two areas. it’s like a gut punch every year. just keeps getting worse for the average fan to walk around and enjoy multiple views. I just stayed by the rollers after the bridge and last corner before the finish line jump all day. Had no desire to even walk around honestly. but maybe I’m just old and lame 😒
