Right now I don't think he has any offers. You would think a team like HOT would at least pick him up for SX. His best finish was 5th last year at Jacksonville and had a better finish than the whole team. I will ask him what's up today though.

Good for Josh. Seems like an odd fit to me for whatever reason, but I hope it works.

I think Josh will do well on the Honda.

Not sure if it will be better than Shorty, but time will tell.

Shorty has a new ride and it's a factory team. That's a win for him. Who cares that Grant took the spot. Like it says in the RacerX article, Josh is a Honda kid and went home so to speak. If Josh doesn't deliver, than it's on him, simple as that. I hope that he can stay healthy and his little boy and impending marriage help him stay focused. I'm looking forward to seeing him rock that CRF.

Agree. Have to assume that his deal is low salary and very incentive laden. Pourcel wants big base and bonus'. No way he fit Honda's budget.

Reed rides for money, there is no way those teams could dish the money needs for Reeed.
Reed is in no way tied to monster, Monster is simply his supercorss title sponsor.
Ummm, there is this little car/truck manufacturer by the name of Dodge backing H&H, they want a rider that will produce some decent results immediately, so I don't think Reed would be that big of a stretch.

who says Honda is done? They had three 450 riders last year and the year before and....why not 3 450's in 2011 too?

After all Alessi is a Honda kid too. Alessi to Honda?

They technically had 4 riders this year if you want to mean during the year and not at one time.

Good post Conkey. While KTM is a factory team on the move right now there are still question marks with the team that are just nonexistent at Honda. All in all, as a Short fan I'm happy for him to be riding orange now because I think a guy like RD can turn this guy into a champion.

What people seem to be bent out of shape over is the move from the perspective of Honda. While Grant's an extremely fast rider his finishes are anything but consistent right now. We don't even need to go into the PR differences between AS and JG but I feel many would agree that its a step down for big red. The move just doesn't make sense.

After all though Honda has a reputation for questionable moves, i.e. RC.

I personally think Grant to Honda is a better deal for Honda than Pourcel, Short or anyone else but Reed to Honda.

I like short but he is the king of fade, espically in the outdoors. Yes, he had a good ride in a moto at the MXDN and I wish him luck at KTM. Him and Alessi, the kings of holeshots.....

I don't think Grant is a "reserve rider", he is super fast, edgy and charges the whole moto which I think will be a nice change of pace for Honda. Grant/Canard is a strong team.
Reed would look great on a Honda, I wish he never left Suzuki, he looked phenominal on that bike.

Let's call it as it happened:

RC left Honda's offer on the table, which was incentive laden, for Suzuki's guaranteed cash. RC would have made more if he had stayed at Honda and produced the same results.

Judging by the CO state flag in your signature, I'd say you are obviously a Short fan and aren't seeing the big picture here. Short = great guy and solid results. But, Andrew has proven one other thing - that he cannot push himself to ride on the edge to get the win.

Grant, while inconsistent, will push for the win and has the aggressive attitude that has been lacking from Team Honda since RC left. Grant will do whatever it takes to win and Honda has the team that will put him in a place to go for it.

Maybe the enigma and careless attitude with one of their recently departed riders left them wanting someone who wants it as badly as they do?

He just responded that he doesn't have anything lined up but is trying to work something out. Also said he will let me know when he figures it out. Which basically means he will probably be a privateer will a little more support.

Think of it this way for Honda as well...with Canard they've already got their PR/Podium/Champion/Redhead so why do they need two?

This is just what Honda needs! Their team has been so clean-cut the last few years, when they've got Canard and Grant, they've got a win/win sitatution! They'll keep Treys clean, core moto fans, as well as bring in a whole new personality! Grant has an amazing riding style, he has personality, the tattoos, his involvement with the Mulisha... Great PR for the Honda team.

I wish him the best for the 2011 season.

Right.

I never would have predicted Honda would sign Grant. Never.

What a flakey sport this is.

Honda are cheap asses, they are the New York Yankees of MX biggest budget, deepest pockets, most history. From 1982 to 1997 they won then 2002 to 04 with Ricky killed it, and they just put up the cash. They need to pull out the cash again not hire a second rate injury prone rider.

I don't like this move at all. Grant has turned out to be more of a side show then top tier rider. I really have an issue with the Mulisha deal he has. With not resigning a consistant and class act in Short, I thought they were looking to make room for Pourcel or Reed to get to championship level performance. I would have even been happy with Regal or WIndham.

I have been a huge factory Honda fan yet I can't pull for ths guy. What a disappointment.

In Trey they have a rookie although one with 1/2 a season of experience. In Grant they have an injury prone charger. Not sure about his work ethic. I think Honda needed a proven winner this year to let Trey develop a little more. Stewart, Reed or even Pourcel would do as I see him adapting to the 450 quickly with his style.

Last time Josh Grant raced a full supercross season he got 4th in points and got a win (with a bunch of top 5s). Then this year he got hurt right before A1. He still has something to proove. He's always a threat in SX, outdoors he has always been inconsistant.

I think Josh Grant can win the supercross championship, crazier things have happened.
