Some random thoughts
Lucas was sitting down alot in some sections and I thought Febvre would inch away from him, but Lucas was taking the short rough lines and Febvre was riding alot of outside lines. Lucas clearly had that dog in him.
The smoothest riders I saw were Herlings (early in moto) and KDW in their second motos. KDW in particular when he rode alternate lines behind Sacha looking like he was just cruising and waiting but then just rode around Sacha - looked effortless.
If Febvre winds up losing the title that will cement this as the worst year for me in the forty five years i've been following this sport.
I'll mourn alongside you (if he does lose this title) but, fuck it, Febvre gonna hang on.
Great weekend of racing, very pleased for Skovbjerg getting a career best, and also Ollie Colmer getting 2 point scoring MX2 rides (I believe the first British point scorer in MX2 this year)

Bonacorsi has been shockingly good, he might be able to contend for a moto overall under the right conditions next year. Isn’t he still insanely young? I swear he just turned pro but he’s been riding so good I’m thinking maybe my brain is fried and I’m thinking about someone else

Interesting interview of Herlings concerning the level in MXGP and Jett Lawrence.
First time in a while where I only went to Lommel on Sunday. Excellent day of racing. Track was brutal! Some areas of the track improved for the fans, but certain places definitely were flooded with billboards for TV. Anyways, some takeaways from what I've seen:
- EMXOpen, awesome to see Grobben taking the win and title. Not a lot of people know this, but he was a really talented kid in Belgium coming through the 85s and 125s. Had some injuries, became more of a local pro and attended a few GPs through the years. Even though he didn't have breakthrough rides there, he still is a really fast rider here in Belgium. What he did this weekend is a result of years of hard work. Awesome to see. The overall level was really high. A few of the contenders could actually race the MXGP class.
- EMX125. As I said, Alvisi rode with the heart of a lion on saturday and that made him the champion on Sunday. What a ride! Faure fought for what he was worth after that startcrash + another crash. Both had an excellent season.
- EMX125. It was Bervoets his race to lose, I dont know what happened midway moto 2 but he faded a lot. Still won his first ever overall though. Belgium fans were crazy
Now on to the MX2 and MXGP classes:
- Kay de Wolf did exactly what he had to do this weekend. Didn't see a single mistake and it looked like he was playing around riding at 70%
- McLellan was the most impressive apart from KDW. That dude his physical strength is something else.
- Valin and Benistant surprised me, as two Frenchies. Both had late race charges in moto 2. Valin nearly got Laengefelder. Benistant got the better of his Dutch teammate Elzinga.
- Speaking of heart of a lion. I think it is something Italians have, because Adamo went 110% after his first turn crash. This dude just never gives up. I think his mechanic changed a lot of clutches this weekend... haha. Hard on his motorcycle.
- Some surprises and excellent rides for Walvoort (7th overall), Skovbjerg (8th overall and underrated) and true privateer Scott Smulders (16th)
- You have riders with incredible speed (Coenen, Febvre..) , and you have the Bullet. As a fan that did see him ride hundreds of times, I knew that Herlings would do 'something' this weekend. Even though he rode around injured, his first laps in moto 2 were something else. Best lap times of the top guys were 2.04 - 2.06. Herlings.. a 1.59 in his first lap. His lead after two laps was over 8 seconds. I know that it was all about Coenen and Febvre this weekend (rightfully so), but you can never convince me that they could have beat him if he didn't break that collarbone a few weeks ago. Anyways, he did break it so we were in for other dynamics this weekend. There was also a great interview on GateDrop with him where he talked about his weekend, Prado his struggles, Jett, Coenen, and a hint to a new contract in 2026.
- Febvre his re-pass on Coenen in moto 1 was a statement that he will not be pushed around. They rode with respect though, but that was a clear signal. 5 GPs to go!
- Vlaanderen did what Geerts and Renaux (injured) had to do. His stock is going up with his performances lately, and without a contract that is a good thing for him.
- Even though he was 4th OA, I still expected a bit more from Coldenhoff this weekend. Especially with his history at Lommel.
- Hakon Frederiksen, what a ride! He was plagued with injuries the past few years. His ride reminded me of his past performances in EMX250 on the Riley Yamaha.
- Jan Pancar keeps improving. P6 in moto 2.. from barely getting points in his past sand races to this. He deserves a better ride.
- This was Seewer his worst GP I've ever seen for him. Not sure what went wrong but he didn't have any pace the entire weekend. Still never gave up though, even when battling with Dutch privateer Boris Blanken. Guadagnini was underwhelming as well.
Overall another great weekend of racing. Next GP on my list is Arnhem!
He was pretty good in EMX but has had a rough go at MX2 and MXGP. Bunch of issues, injuries, bad teams, etc. Sounds like this year he's semi pro, racing in Norway. First time I saw him again was at ADAC in Germany two weeks ago. He completely smoked the field. Literally heads and shoulders above everyone. And there were people like Nagl, Tixier, vdMoosdijk, Längenfelder etc on the line.
I've read some times it was Bervoets' first win, but he already tooke the overall in the mud of Cózar, with 2-3 results in the races.
If Febvre wins the title this year surely that has to be the record for most amount of time between world titles? 10 years apart is pretty crazy!
Febvre’s pass was purely desperation compared to the Pass Lucas put on him. He made a straight line through the corner and if Lucas didn’t go off the track, they both go down. If he didn’t make it right there, he wasn’t getting another chance. You could tell on the podium Lucas wasn’t happy with the move. He passed Febvre again in the second moto and dropped him.
Anybody know what injury Braceras had? Didnt look good?
Also what was up with Lata? He looked rough out there fighting with emx riders and privateers

Thats what us old guys call ' a racers pass'... you get one shot , so make it count, too many riders just roll over, and have zero fight.
Romain knew if he didnt do that , Lucas was gone, and it rattled the youngster enough to not be able to come back at him.
Both are riding great , and its good to see old age and treachery going against youth and exuberance. I am really not sure who i want to win, but Febvre really only has this one shot, i feel, and he deserves a second title having gone so close before.

Interesting to hear his take on the whole Prado/Kawasaki thing. I assume Prado watches these races. I wonder what goes through his head when he sees Febvre ride the hell out of that bike.

For Lucas Coenen his career it would also be better that he ends up second this year and also next year, that would create a situation where he could race supercross on a 250cc bike. Because MXGP champions are excluded from Regional championships and the 250 SX championship is a Regional championship.

Agreed. And best if he would then miss the title in SX West by a few points a couple of years in a row as well.
Or here is a controversial alternative: How about he actually wins mxgp? That seems to be a pretty good solution for "his career".

The best thing is to become a champion ..... ride the world supercross championship and see how it goes...and if that goes well...then go to america........prado also had a dream but that's now a nightmare in my opinion
