The dirt at washougal is loose on top and hard packed underneath and the composition from all the redwoods makes the dirt unique.
Also, while their bikes look great outdoors that could be attributed to most od the tracks being soft and loamy. While in supercross, on the harder soils they were having issues.
Being slightky off on bike setup, on a track that everyone is going fast on makes life harder
The slow technique style works where over riding would slow you down such as rough and rutted tracks. Washougal doesn't get deep ruts or very many and there are a lot of fast corners so a aggressive rider can do well here.
It was less so back on two strokes though which is why Kevin Windham could beat RC4 here
Yeah there were all these years everyone said Marv and Kenny would have the advantage there but Eli would yard them. Dunge is the king there though
To me it seemed like Jett and Hunters bike set up was a little bit off. The bikes looked nervous and were deflecting off the bumps. Sextons bike looked much more settled and planted

Don't sweat it, it was one bad race at a track neither of them like. They'll be back to going 1-2 again unless Chase can rock the boat. Those brothers are so dialed it takes a lot of stars to align for someone to beat them.
I will say I thought the luck was going to go their way again (like Hangtown) with the red flag restart and putting Hunter in front of Chase. I was surprised Chase got around him so quick and made it happen, but it was fun to watch.
Washougal has thrown A LOT of HRC 450 riders other ground…
I think the Lawrence’s were aware of this. 🤣
It seemed to me like their bikes were set up incredibly bouncy, where as Chase and Tomac were keeping their wheels driven to the ground, and with this being a flatter track in terms of braking bumps it seemed like a not perfect mixture
Still can’t believe Alessi held off Dungey for an entire Moto at that track
Agreed. But wouldn’t it have been nice to see sexton pass Jett on the way to a win?
From what I saw, Jett had his feet on the ground when Sexton blew by with his superior speed.
Yes it’s a part of racing and the win is deserved.
However it’s still not the type of dominant win that Jett lays on everyone else week in week out.
I didn’t see any cracks in Jett yet, but it could be the mental boost Sexton needs to stop thinking Jett is unbeatable.
I agree. They don't vibe with the track. I saw them both in 2022 there and they seemed off of their normal pace.
They grew up riding sand tracks (Roys Rd, Coolum) and have always been on record that they aren't keen on taking risk when not comfortable, be it due to setup, track conditions or otherwise
Another 3-1 and Jett might as well retire.
It looks actually similar but on a bigger scale to Toowoomba Echo Valley hard packed clay very slippery when watered or rain, and get hard chopping sharp bumps.
That’s the track I think of when looking at Washougal as far the dirt goes. Clay that can be blue groove and dusty, add water turns to glass, if ripped rut city, but for an hour or so every day is the perfect tackiness.
Maybe they removed the traction control... LOL
I don’t think he “rolls over” either. No more than every other rider on the track “rolls over” when Jet catches up!
No one wants to beat Jet more than Hunter. But Jet’s a team mate that looks like winning the title - Hunter doesn’t want to get back to the team tent having derailed that either. So pass him, yes: Take him out doing it, no.
2nd overall and 4th overall.
I really don't think those sorts of results should bring on 'Strurm und Drang' for either the Hunta Brothers, or, fellow Aussies.
In this Sport, things can turn to s**t with nothing but a simple 'Foot Stomp', ala Jetts SX injury. And, that, or far worse, can happen in an instant.
Take it as it comes, is my viewpoint.
And, the points tally, at the end of a series, is, what it is.
It's good to see Sexton get back to racing, and get himself together, and, Tomac, too, improving after a bit of a lull.
To me, Sexton pushing Jett hard enough to lay his bike over is just as nice. Then in moto 2 Jett had to ride so far out of his line to block Chase from passing him, again just as nice. But again it’s just one weekend, but I hope it’s sign of more to come.
