I thought this quote was very telling from chase on racerx:
“We had a really good pace going and obviously Eli was right there so I didn’t really have any room to back off. Then Jett started upping the pace so I decided to go with him and see what we could do,” Sexton explained. “We started to get a little gap. At this track, when you’re going up against someone as good as Jett, it’s going to be hard to even think of a place to make a pass. So I decided to cruise back and bring it home. It would be stupid to go down. I’ve done that once this year in Dallas, going for a win when I didn’t need to, and I made myself look like an idiot. Today I wasn’t going to do that.”
Seems like he really has taken that dallas incident to heart and wants to never do that again. The old chase used to not really care and as he said just wanted to win. Its good to see that he is taking his racecraft much more serious now and is being intentional with his decision making.

Its cool to hear Chase just come right out and admit the mistake he made. It's a really good sign.
Chase will always be a threat for titles. I still give the edge to Jett because he's THAT good. But Chase has proved that if anyone can run with Jett, it's him. Hope to see more of what we saw at Washougal because I think Chase, when on point, can be a real threat to Jett for wins and titles.
One thing I’ve noticed between Jett and Chase is that they have both crashed about the same amount of times this year. Usually small tip overs.
The big difference is that Jett crashes in the first few laps of a moto, whereas Chase crashes in the last few laps. Naturally, Jett’s crashes give more time to get up and recover time while Chase tends to throw away his results with his crashes.
This has always been chases one biggest weakness and it looks like hes actively working on fixing it. I think the win this weekend showed the progress he is making. Literally just 1 year ago he would have tried as hard as he could to catch and then pass jett and there would be a huge chance he pushes the front trying so hard to get there. The maturity to back it off and take the guaranteed win is what makes champions. Nice to see chase thinking a bit more out there, hes really the only one with jetts speed.

Is it just me or is Chase doing more hopping around like Jett does? He looked lighter on the bike this week than usual. I think Chase is always looking for ways to improve.
As much of a Jett and Hunter fan, I am just as much a Chase fan as well. He rode great all day, and I personally thought his riding looked more mature. Very proud of his work this past weekend, hopefully it continues.
I think Chase was working on himself as well as his body during his time off. It seems to be working.
All three have such amazing technique and style. At this point in my fandom thats what draws me in to rooting for one guy vs the next. I can understand people finding Deegz to more exciting. But for me that surgical precision that Jett and Chase have is mind blowing. Its what makes my own riding still so enjoyable. I dont really care to race anymore but strive to improve technically, even at almost 50yrs old,
Not trying to start some kind of theory or anything, just generally curious: I wonder if Chase has started working with some kind of mental coach since his Pala crash. In every interview I've seen of him since coming back at RedBud, he just seems much more relaxed than ever before. I feel like old Chase would've been pissed throwing away his impressive moto 2 at RedBud with his tip-over, but in his interviews with Weege/Lewis/etc, he was all smiles and just seemed happy to be there. After getting absolutely smoked by the Lawrence bros at Spring Creek, he didn't seem too bothered and just said "I wasn't comfortable going fast on the downhills, still gotta figure some stuff out and work my way back". Flash forward to Washougal, where he didn't buckle for a second under the pressure of a hard-charging Jett in moto 1, and rode a smart race to bring home the OA in moto 2. He just seems like a much more composed, mature guy since coming back.
I think if you are a top athlete you probably should be seeing a mental coach. Idk if Eli got a mental coach a few years ago, but things finally started clicking. For a while there I know a lot of people (on here, the geniuses we are) suggested it.
just like Prado 😊
Honesty is always best, good on Chase!
Jett only does those little tip overs when Chase is racing likewise with Chase only when Jett is racing. It’s called pushing to the limit.
Tuck the front son!
