Yep, everybody knows who it is without even having to look at the picture. I was stumbling around YouTube and I do not ever recall seeing video of the racing.

There are a few YouTube vids of it, but this one is pretty good.

A couple of highlights: Around the 20 minute mark is Magoo's holeshot and 31 minute mark you see him WFO swapping and never letting off the throttle! Danny really was one of a kind!

Longest holeshot? Maybe. Greatest? No.  Greatest holeshots (both of them) belong to Ryan Villapoto at Budds Creek in 2007. Him pulling both holeshots on a 250 against a field of 450s was incredible.

Longest, Greatest--are we splitting hairs here? ๐Ÿ™„

I have been to six Motocross des Nations and was at Budd's Creek.

Yes it was amazing when Ryan pulled the holeshot on his 250. The thing is that is a very SHORT start straight. I'd be surprised if he shifted twice.

Wasn't he also like multiple seconds faster than anyone on the track that day? I mean that gotta be the greatest MXON performance of all time and it's hard to imagine anyone will surpass that anytime soon..

What about Kenny holeshotting on the "old Suzuki" two years ago at Ernee and winning the MXGP class after only riding one outdoors that summer, that gotta be in the top 3 at least, right?

I was there as well.  Iโ€™ve only been to 4 MXdN here in the states. I was only 5 years old for Unadilla in โ€˜87 and couldnโ€™t get myself there.

Magooโ€™s holeshot was huge but, for me, not as impressive as both of RVโ€™s. That day was such a shining example of a team working together doing their part for the greater good of the team.

Canโ€™t remember who holeshot, but Lamson winning outright on a one dinger is even more impressive than RV on a 250f imo.

Honestly as cool as villos was. He was on a fire breathing 250f that put out power that makes it much easier to compete with the open class and 450 riders vs doing it on a 125.

I was there for RV's ride drove up last minute woth a few people from Phoenix and it was a great race worthy of being talked about until the end of the sport but its not the same as beating 500s or 250s on a 125.

Hw dominated the world two weeks in a row,. Never had been done before.  That was his best year!

You do understand that Magoo was on a 500 not a 125 right?

Marty Moates holeshot both motos at the 1980 500 USGP at Carlsbad, that has to have special consideration. We all know the rest of the story.

Think hes talking about Lammy. But he didn't win a moto outright did he?

I wouldnโ€™t have known who it was without doing research. Maybe Iโ€™m the odd man out though I donโ€™t know.

I knew immediately what photo it was going to beโ€ฆ. And itโ€™s splitting hairs, because itโ€™s so different.  Magoo was on equal (if you can even say that with those fire breathing Hondas) bikes with his competition.  Villo was not, but he only won 2 and Magoo won 4.  Special rides?  Lammy and Oโ€™Mara both boogied the 125โ€™s, but no holeshot.

Lammy's win was probably the greatest ever and will never be replicated. Won outright on a 125 against 500cc 2 strokes is so wild.

Yes the Best ride ever and on a hilly track . While doing heal clickers on the Huge down hill double which was a quad . The Euro,s complained it gave the Americans had an advantage.  So they took the 2 middle jumps out. Tortelli beat Lamson the yr before and was Not happy . That was a show down of who is the fastest 125 rider in the world .  Lammy showed how to manual a 125 on the back wheel. McGrath was on another level even slid out got passed & passed them back .

Didnโ€™t Dean Ferris holeshot both motos at the 2013 MXONโ€™s when it was held at Teutschenthal, Germany? He was riding one of those ultra quick but also ultra unreliable Dixon Cosworth Yamahas. Long start straight too.

Man, Mitch had to just be in cloud 9 that day. Not only was his rider far and away the best that day, but so was his machine. Pretty sweet accomplishment for PC and Mitch.
