If Chad Reed was on a 2 stroke, he'd be whooping lots of ass and it wouldn't matter what everyone else was on.

Modern 450's are only marginally faster than the 2005 CRF that Kevin Winham got LAPPED on by RC and Reedy on their 250's. In that race he was also solidly beaten by DV12, Larocco and Burn, who were also on 2 strokes....

The only reason that so many people believe that the 4 porkers are going faster today, is because 2 strokes were eliminated from Pro Racing in 2006 after having DOMINATED the 2005 Supercross Series.

The pork pushers obviously realized that it would be impossible to convince the world that 4 strokes were vastly "Superior" while they were being chewed up by bikes about 1/2 their size in race after race in front of the buying public every week.... It's hard to play the "2 Strokes are so passe" angle with that happening on the track all the time. And so in 2006 they apparently made sure NO ONE was on one and the whole thing was a 4 stroke dog and pony show, this way there would be nothing to compare.

Even though it was a slimey, shady business move, I can't say I blame the 4 stroke pushers. They were just doing what they had to do... After all by 2005, the "Modern" 4 stroke dirtbike was almost a decade into it's development, and the race results pretty much sucked compared to the cheaper, lighter, more fun, more reliable 2 stroke.
