After watching the 450 motos again from High Point... I couldn't help but notice in Moto 2 the camera watched Jett for HALF of the race. We see the ridiculous over exposure Jett gets, and even HE is getting fed up with it off the track. From the time clock 18:46-8:57 they watched Jett by himself...for 9m48s. 4.5 laps continuous. Stew and RC never got that kind of time. They always panned away to the top 5. He logged another 2+ minutes elsewhere in the moto and then another 5 mins after the race. But total race time coverage 11:49 for 1 rider in a race that lasted 23 mins. Meanwhile Hunter was in 2nd behind Tomac, staying within 3-4 sec range. He only got 1m31s of camera time. Tomac, who won, got 3m30s, tv didn't even watch him for 1 complete lap. In Moto 1 in the last 2 laps they stayed on Tomac AP ended up getting most of the TV time in Moto 1 because he was battling with everyone the entire moto with a whopping 14 minutes, 1 stretch for 2 full laps. 2nd moto he got 6m13s. Jett Moto 1 was smaller clips,1 good 2 lap stretch. But still 11m18s, over 1/3 of the race.
Here's the chart:

There is some overlap with times because 2 guys were in the shot. That's why moto 1 totals more than 35 mins.
The point isn't to just complain about Jett. Its about the production team needing to step up and watch the top 10. Not just 1 guy. Fans want to see their favorite riders, which are in the top 10. No one really wants to watch 15th place "battle" when there is a real battle for the top 3. Do better guys.
The camera should focus on whatever battle is highest in the field, or is most relevant to the championship. Considering Jett got a bad start and was quickly working his way through the field, it makes perfect since that the camera would have stayed focused on him. Especially since Tomac was keeping Hunter just out of reach of making it a real fight for the lead.
But coverage being disproportionate to popular drivers/riders is nothing new to motorsports. You should have watched Indycar back in the Danica Patrick days.
Good analysis. However, you are screaming into the void.
At Thunder Valley post race (I think it was Thunder Valley) just when they took their helmets off the camera was on Jett immediately and he stood up, grabbed it and turned it into the direction of Tomac, anyone remember that? That was funny af. He was like: "There is other riders aswell". He is definitely aware.
The world just isn’t fair.

Like I said, I know I come off as bitching on here a lot. But really I'm just passionate about this sport. We all know the things to fix these problems are usually easy to solve. Things like, don't use the split screen to show an interview while you are half way into a moto watching battles. All you are doing is giving this sport the image that its SO BORING you have to show other content during the LIVE Broadcast to make up for it. Newsflash, these guys are racing one of the most difficult sports on the planet! Jumping 230lb machines through the air, sideways, in 2ft deep ruts, and at speeds the average motorcycle rider cannot get close to. This sport is gnarly and we want to watch it, NOT an interview or cutaway to something completely unrelated or ridiculous.
Jett Lawrence was moving through the field and was the best action on the track. During that 10 minute run, he passed Joey Savatgy, Jason Anderson, Justin Cooper and Aaron Plessinger. I think this is what most viewers wanted to see.
However, I do think early in that run they probably could have shown some of Hunter, because he was 3 seconds behind Tomac and was gaining for a little bit, before falling off the pace.
Come on mate, this whole post is about complaining about Jett. You're wrapping your Jett complaint in an even weirder complaint to try and mask your Jett complaint.
Looking at the stats if anyone was hard done by, its Hunter, especially considering he went 2-2 and was looking like winning the round until the last moment.
The worst part about all of this is that it's a narrative that neither Jett nor Hunter wanted. I respect the hell out of Jett, although he's whooping on the OG's. But I gained even more respect for the little camera adjustment he made at Thunder Valley.
So the guy leading the series in points, undefeated in overalls so far, got the most coverage and it’s unfair. Got it.
Hunter is the only one who actually got shorted.
AP only got 3 minutes less than Jett apparently. What did he get, 4th overall?
Could not agree more. They stay on one rider way, way too long, while there are interesting battles happening within the top 10, or a guy like Tomac is shredding through the field. It's so bad that it seems intentional.
I can’t stand the interviews mid-race or going to trackside reporters. I don’t even know why it annoys me so much, but it does.
May I also add: Can they please get rid of replays during the race? Its 2025 and we can rewind if we need to. If they have better angles, show it after the race in a highlight reel.
Edit: While we're at it, please give us a full screen view without the LH leader board blocking the image.
...And don't forget that this sport, like it or not, is Jett-o-cross right now.
The network has always had their guy. Js7 could have been in 12th after a crash and you'd still have Ralph saying fastest man alive every 10 seconds.
Interesting! You even took the time to clock these stats. Impressive, mate! Its the opposite of Fórmula 1 where they barely show the leader when he goes a few secs ahead and that always lead to complains about the lack of sponsor exposure. MXGP does a better job showing battles down in the field imo (at least in emx, which is what i follow closer)
There is definitely time to spend on more riders. Take a minute or so out of the Jett Show to put the camera on each rider at least in the top 20.
Pit Row
The Kardashian Effect
Yeah, but AP wears a cowboy hat!
Maybe Hunter should wear a Crocodile Dundee outfit.
