RR was IMO one of the most naturally talented riders of all time... when he was on and healthy, he was unbeatable, by Anyone, including the GOAT/MC/whoever else you can think of.... also IMO, if his career would have been injury free, he would have crushed a LOT of records in the sport.....

When he was on, it was amazing. His cornering was flawless. I think Carmichael said of him something like he is unbeatable when he's on.

Had Robbie Reynard not jacked his wrist up at his first-ever Supercross (San Jose '93) the history of American motocross in the nineties might have been different. Robbie was a wildly fast, but perfectly in control rider who could win any given race, when healthy. But that wrist injury began a long, painful slide down the injured reserve list that would decimate the best days of his career. I truly believe he would have been something special, and maybe both a MX and SX champion in that period. That's not to say Jeremy and Fro and Lamson and Henry and those guys didn't deserve what they won by any means, but Reynard never got going long enough to see how good he could be...

Think of it this way. Fox Racing got behind four kids heavily in the nineties: Carmichael, Reynard, Pastrana and Stewart. And they also had McGrath, Lamson, Emig (Shift) and Henry as pros....

He belonged with those guys, all of whom won titles.

Pity he never won a title... injuries suck in motocross.... I can watch guys like that all day... I remember Pastrana pit boarding him in 99 at Broome- Tiaoga...trying to get him to ride like he did in practice.

Ok, I'm going to admit something here. Back in either 1990, or 91, I was racing 80's against Robbie at the Lake Whitney amateur championships and we came together in the air over a huge jump and he crashed hard - either breaking his wrist or his arm for the first time. I luckily came away unscathed and placed 3rd that day, but I always wondered if it was actually me that ruined Robbie's wrist. Hopefully not!

Absolutely agree with what Davey said. On top of that he's a great guy along with a terrific family. Having had the pleasure of watching him disappear quickly and effortlessly around the track in front of me his style was one to watch and admire for sure.

I was at that race and do remember RR reeling in and passing Ricky...that was an AMAZING ride!!!

professional bass fish'n tour ...I just about pissed myself LOL. If Robbie kept the rubber side down...there wasnt anyone on the track he couldn't beat.

Robbie is/was fun to watch. I've posted up a few vid's I've come across of him riding stuff standing on the pegs and pulling away from the pack...only to get tired/arm pump due to his injuries and start going backwards.

Real shame he never really was 100% at any time in his pro career.

Unadilla was one amazing ride, but remember this: He remains the youngest rider in the history of AMA Motocross to win a national. That says something about his vast potential back then, before the injuries started piling up.

He only won maybe five nationals, but that's five more than most will ever win.
