Who can build what Prado wants? If I'm in Prado's camp I'm calling up Mitch Payton or Twisted Development and asking for the meanest fire breather they can build. Then, I'm delivering it to Factory Kawi and submitting my expense report for a reimbursement.

On a factory ride, a bad bike could maybe make you go from podium positions to a top 5 or 7. What we're seeing is something more than the bike. I know he has talent to podium on any bike so we'll see if he gets it figured out.
I hear ya, but the main complaint has been about power. Rumor is he's been asking for it since Pala and they haven't been able to deliver what he wants yet, at least in the power department.
Yea, I agree Mitch would be the man to call to deliver more power!
I wonder if the mxgp bike suffers also on power or do they have it figured out ? And if they do, can the USA team team the gp team spec motor ?

This really blows me away. This is a FACTORY bike. Seems to me that the FACTORY should be able to build/modify (within allowable limits) power and handling to suit any particular rider. I remember reading a thing about Adam Entencap (sic?) discussing the difference in engine stays, and how the different ones affect handling. I'd think the factory's should be able to dial in any bike to any rider. What am I missing here.
Not sure it's only about power, prado mention that he feel really good on the downhill section at hangtown but , if you read between line, lack of something in the other part of the track.
Kid have been all it's life on the orange bike, I think he's having a much harder time to feel comfortable on the aluminium chassis which I guess feel stiffer.
Also if you take a look at the previous 450 kawi rider like tomac, he said openly that the team is not open to go out of their comfort zone like star yamaha would do to content the rider. What work for some may not work for others.
I hope for prado that kawi will do everything in their power to make him feel great again, because for now it's not looking that good for kawi.
Mike Alessi could get a hole shot on that Kawi
top 250s have his lap times.
HP ain’t it. It’s confidence
Gas Gas. Oh wait...
Just trade bikes with Sexton or Barcia..
Its not like a top level rider to blame the bike for less then expected results
I think its more so a very particular kind of way the engine makes a lot power that he's after. Factory Kawi should no problem making an insanely fast engine if that's all he really wanted. But what do I know. I think it has to do with confidence rather than the bike. I mean CS4 has likely tested the bike and thought it was good enough or better than the KTM.
What proof do we have that the bike is the exclusive problem?
If I were Kawi, I’d build a ripper of an engine even if I suspected he had other issues. Best case, he was right, gets better results, and problem solved. Second-best, he still sees subpar results, clearly illustrating that the engine wasn’t the issue. At that point a frank conversation is had about how to move forward without the excuses.
Agreed, who knows it’s really the bike.
He is a young guy. He was a dominant force in the GP’s. He has the very obvious talent and ability.
I believe those working on his behalf at Kawasaki know it’s not the bike. But there is no effective way, or value telling Prado this. Better to keep offering changes in an effort to get him to find his confidence.
At some point he may realize this also and take accountability.
Webb and Reed thought the Yamaha was great before they signed uo for 2010.
Remember the other year Ty Masterpool pulling holeshots on his stock KX450 against a field of factory bikes. I’d say it had plenty of power also
not sure how he got this start, with the elevation, on his slow ass bike.
Prado pulled the biggest catfish of all time.
Pit Row
My guess, if I had to guess would be the other variable that no one talks about. He is not on Euro spec tires. It has to contribute. Remember when the Euros threw a whoopin at Red Bud. I believe it was mentioned that part of that whoopin excuse was attributed to the tires the Euros used.
It goes to reason that if he is not comfortable because of a change in tire feel or performance it would effect his confidence, riding, style and results.
That’s it right there. Febvre is doing well on it. Surely, his team is talking with Prado’s.
All I’m saying is I don’t think that Kawi is a handicap
The Factory Kawi is the Sauber (F1) of the Motocross world. Same color too. Go figure.
They already do that and have in the past as well. 2 of Eli Tomacs mx titles were a ron hamp built head. I'm sure they already have mitch in on it hes involved quite a bit already in the 450 program.
People really underestimate the amount of power you can make out of not just a ktm but also a true works bike. I always said I'd love to see tomac on a works yzf or ktm in the gos for 2 years. Man how I wish RV wouldn't have gotten hurt.
He seems really nice, so maybe the bike is that bad compared to what he had.
If Prado lined up for the 250 motos next week (on his 450) would he win?
Negative
I can’t remember anyone ever complaining their factory Kawasaki was slow?
His bike looks heavy and suspension movement slow. That is opposite how his GasGas was at GP races, that had lot of power and high springy suspension that he could use jumping over stuff like he was playing. Why its hard to believe he wants more power, guy ripped holeshots by mile even 125cc bike when he was younger he can start with any bike.
