Sure looks like it at this early stage of the season.
Thoughts?
Yes
Can he? Yeah, he’s definitely capable. Will he? Remains to be seen. Jo’s been riding great, and if he gets a holeshot and sets the pace, I don’t know that Haiden can run him down. Kitchen looked pretty good today, too, so he could be a spoiler as well.
Starts have definitely helped Deegan & hampered Shimoda but Jo still can’t close the gap when he’s got to 2nd. Long way to go & anything can happen.

Deegan would have to crash or get a pretty bad start in order to lose one, from what it looks like.
He definitely can. Dunno if he will.
Yeah, that’s why I was thinking Jo would need to holeshot and set the pace. He’s been running Deegan’s pace, but they kind of cancel each other out because neither is consistently faster than the other.
Yes, he's capable but the stars need to align.
I don't think it will happen. Riders like Kitchen, Shimoda, Hymas or even Vialle or Masterpool, have some tracks that really favor them. Masterpool got the Overall win at High Point and 2nd overall at Red Bud just last year. He held off a hard charging Deegan at Highpoint for that overall win. All it takes is for Deegs to have a bad start, or a crash, and someone else is coming through with an overall.
Still too much racing to go. Like I said, he's definitely capable, I just don't see it happening.
Unless he crashes, I dont see how he doesn’t. He’s got the field covered and doesn’t get in a rush. It’s like practice out there for him. He’s totally relaxed.
I believe he will be the first ever 250 guy who will do it if he don't crashes or having a bike failure. Kid is savage and we seeing that almost in every race
If he keeps pulling top five starts I don’t think it’s beyond the the realm of possibility. Odds would say no because there are way too many variables. Not really a fan of the kid, but his speed is undeniable and I don’t really think there’s anyone in the class who can hang with him this year. They can all do a similar pace on one lap to qualify, problem for the field is Deegan can bang out 30+2 at 100% like a metronome.
Its so early but it sure seems doable. Seems like every year we have a thread asking if (insert rider name) will go undefeated. I never believe they will. Go find the Jett thread after Pala '23. I said you were out of your mind if you thought Jett wouldn't drop a moto to Chase. I was out iny shed working on my bike, watching the race, yesterday and I got a strange feeling that Haiden really might do this. Jo seems like the only guy who can stop him right now.
If his fellow racers are so head dead from him yes.
Kitchen has no confidence, Deegan mentally sent him to crazy town.
Shimoda seems willing to try but needs lessons from Alessi and some aggression lessons and I think he could beat him a time or two
Last year, Deegs had a couple tumbles mid race. It is reasonable to expect that he will experience a tumble this year.
Yeah, I think Haiden has all these guys beat before the gate drops except for Jo. Jo doesn't need lessons from Alessi. He just needs to ask his teammate Hymas for advice. He's ripping holeshots on the same bike. I think at some point Jo gets at least a moto off him
True. But Deegz seems much more mature, composed, and patient this year. He believes with every fiber in his being he's going to win before the gate drops. Bad start? Ah no worries, I got 35min to get to the front
Yes, he can. And I think maybe he will. Kid is always confident, and this year his experience will translate in to fewer mistakes.
I think Deegs is gonna win them all AND Jett's gonna win all the overalls and it'll be the first double clean sweep in all of recorded history, never again to be repeated.
I think he can. I think this week will be the swing week. He was sick and went to the medical tent after his podium interview and he's probably got some dehydration. I think all the guys in both classes have a level of dehydration. Recovery this week will be really important.
Pit Row
Shortest answer is “yes”
At this point, I'm gonna say it's more likely than not. (After round 2) I think it's fair to say Deegan is more motivated by stuff like that than anything else and it really doesn't seem like anyone can stop him as of now. Personally, I'm hoping he can so there's something to hope/root for in the 250 class because I just want it to be exciting in any shape or form. I'd rather see that happen than hope for a single moto that someone else beats him and he still wraps the championship early. He'd be the first to do it in the 250 class, I think. That would be cool! History > Title
Deag,s has a great chance, however #100 is coming back soon to spoil that dream.
Yes. If he doesn’t crash and doesn’t have a bike failure, it’s gonna happen.
I don't think he will but he has the potential for sure. He seems much less intense so far this year. Not rushing to the front, just picking them off and than does a few fast laps to get a gap and dials it down.
It's very possible, but not super likely.
I do get star wanting to win another 250mx title but it just seems to be Deegan is totally wasted in the 250 class, obviously not my money or decision but think he should have just gone 450 this outdoor season.
He's 19, defending is the right move.
The crazy thing is I don't think he has pushed the whole moto yet. It's either a sprint for the 20 minutes or the last 15. There is some serious talent in the 250 class and he makes it look extremely easy.
I say for now at least the only guy who looks to be close is Shimoda, but Shimoda needs a start. I think Shimoda will win 1-2 overalls this year. They might be the only two winners this year though if it continues to look like the last two weekends.
Yeah I don't know why everyone wants to rush these riders specially now where it looks like riders don't retire before their 30s anymore. He'll have more than enough years in the 450s.
Wouldn't be surprised with Deegan winning them all but do not think Jet will win all the overalls. Tomac has too much speed to lose to Jet all summer. I actually believe that Tomac will win this.
