One 250 world title, and four 450 world titles. Tim’s actually pretty damn consistent.

Jett claiming he was conserving energy but looking the most tired of the 3 and also sounding depressed. Not sure I buy it. I like him but he struggles to admit defeat.

When I heard what Jett said my B/S meter started bouncing off the rev limiter.....

I thought it was a wild thing to say, but he just put the pressure on himself to back it up. We’ll see if he can.

Looks like he backed it up, with some help from Tomac’s tipover.

Eli could not afford to screw it up today. Hangtown is an Eli track. The only positive takeaway is that he proved he can drop Jett straight up. He needs a 1-1 next week, no ifs ands or buts. Otherwise it could be a wrap for the title.

Eli was asleep on the gate. His leave off the drop was C class. You can’t do that at this level. 992 had a wheel and can whatever the Fvck he wants.

Swing and a miss...

Eli didn't get a great jump, but he was right with everyone but the top 5ish off the line.  He gets jammed and lifted.

I initially thought that too. But Eli got a great deive off the gate and not really behind Jorge and just a ind 992. It wasn’t as bad a start as I thought.

I remember how excited the international fan base of mx was when Villopoto went over and raced GP’s.   Fans all knew it would take some time to be consistent running up front as there are many factors.
Non of these riders want to get hurt and anyone that has ever ridden a dirt bike knows that its not if, but when.
Always good story lines out there and I appreciate all the riders.  The more folks from overseas the better.  They are here racing because they want to be racing in America.
Pretty special thing we have going here.

So to the haters of any of the riders out there, I will personally pay your entrance fees to sign up for a national and attempt to the best of your ability to qualify. I will also be your wrench. 😎 Maybe we can make a youtube channel and make content out of it.  💰 😊😊😊

Bummed that Deegan didn't move up this summer..... hope he clinches 250 so early that he can't resist doing a round or two on 450 to end the season.

Tomac’s initial jump was poor, he was not going to get a good start either way, but Guillod wheelied out of a hooked rut and made it much worse than it would have been. No big deal, happens to multiple guys every single gate drop. Unfortunately for our viewing pleasure this time Eli was involved.

The dozers were out between each moto working on different sections. Not all. I was kind of bumming because I wanted it to get rough.

That’s halfway down the straight.  In the photo Eli is almost level but he was behind Guillod from the gate drop until then.

When you get a bad start you expose yourself to that sort of thing.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who sees so much more when you watch the replay.

Jett's bike looks as bad as Eli's did at pala.

(Tomac's brute strength is able to overcome it seems)

No wonder he settled into a sensible ride home to a 3rd in moto1.

How many times over the years have we seen Tomac doing the same thing ??

Not riding the back harder than what it's giving him.

Hunter's been talking about them working to find the balance on that bike.

Yesterday showed that the still have a ways to go.

Let’s all pull over for Eli. He was slow off the line so wasn’t going to make much difference anyway. Tomac messed up the start paddle tire ? Great to see him charge

Nobody is suggesting they need to move for Eli, people are just pointing out a fact. Eli got a bad jump and was bumped which made things worse. The end.

Key Highlights

Out of Gas: Aaron Plessinger should’ve had Moto 1 in the bag. His median time was a full second quicker than Tomac’s But the last two laps? A full seven seconds slower than his race pace. AP was gassed.

Back to Form: Moto 1 was off for Jett Lawrence. But any doubters were quickly silenced in Moto 2. He was fastest in every sector and clocked top times on 10 of 14 laps. Yet, he didn't have the best median lap time?

450 Analysis

Two words summed up all four motos at Hangtown: HOT and INCONSISTENT. Riders were tested to the core, physically and mentally, with the track demanding more than just speed. This wasn’t a showdown of who was fastest; it was about who could survive the scorching heat combined with a relentless test of grit. Let’s break down how the chaos unfolded, one sector at a time.

Track Breakdown:

The track maps tell the first story. (We highlight sectors based on fastest average time).

Moto 1 was a war of attrition. Aaron Plessinger and Eli Tomac went toe-to-toe in a 30-minute pressure cooker. Tomac made his move late and stole the win, running down Plessinger in the final laps in true Beast Mode fashion. Meanwhile, Jett Lawrence looked... off. Struggling with setup, looking a bit gassed. Hangtown seemed to have his number yet again.

Until Moto 2, that is. Jett came back with a vengeance, completely flipping the script. Clean sweep across every single sector of the track. That should not be possible with how deep this field is.

450 Moto 1:

Screenshot %2844%29

450 Moto 2:

Screenshot %2845%29.png?VersionId=yhij1.5Ld7AV4QLibwZul0rC6nP3s

Lap Time Breakdown:

Check the histogram above, and the story gets hotter. Triple-digit temperatures meant strategy shifted from all-out sprinting to smart survival. Even though Moto 2 was five minutes shorter, the average lap time for the field was practically identical between the two motos ~ 2:08. Yet the top times were dramatically slower.

There were 16 timed laps in Moto 1, here is who set the most fast laps:

Tomac: 6
Plessinger: 5
J. Lawrence: 4
Cooper: 1

Moto 1 Consistency:

Class Average: 76.9
Class Median: 83.2

Moto 2 was cut by 5 total minutes, resulting in only 14 timed laps. Here's who clocked the most fast laps:

J. Lawrence: 10
Cooper: 2
R. Hampshire: 1

Moto 2 Consistency:

Class Average: 69.3
Class Median: 82.5

450 Moto 1 Analysis

Screenshot %2846%29

Rider's sorted by median lap time.

Top Performances:

Aaron Plessinger should’ve had this one in the bag. His median time was a full second quicker than Tomac’s But the last two laps? A full seven seconds slower than his race pace. AP was gassed. He even admitted he thought the race was over when the 2-lap board came out. Physically cooked, mentally smoked. He limped to P2, losing 12 seconds to Tomac at the end and nearly handing Jett P2.

Also worth the shout: R.J. Hampshire. He’s adapting quick to the 450. His consistency (87.9) puts him in elite company and the lap times back it up. Smooth, composed, and already threatening the veterans.

LITPro 10-Lap Consistency:

Despite the brutal conditions, 4 riders managed consistency scores above 90.

J. Anderson: 95.5
T. Purdon: 95.3
L. Locurcio: 92.4
B. Paturel: 90.9

Lap 99 Analysis:

Lap 99 is our theoretical max performance with the fastest segments stitched into a "perfect" lap. And look who shows up again: Tomac and Plessinger. That says a lot about what could’ve been if endurance matched speed.

450 Moto 2 Analysis

Screenshot %2847%29 1

Rider's sorted by median lap time.

Top Performances:

This is where the numbers get spicy. Justin Cooper’s median lap was Faster than Jett Lawrence’s. That’s not a typo. Okay, its only by 0.04 seconds. But looking at average times, tells the real story. Jett held that pace for longer, while Cooper fell off.

And Jett managed the race. Its what he does and he does it better than anyone else. He strung together more complete laps. Remember, Jett was fastest on track in 10 of 14 laps.

Still, hats off to Cooper. He’s finally syncing with the 450, and if the trend continues, that 250 rivalry with Jett might be back on in a new class. Cooper charged until the very end, and that says a lot.

LITPro 10-Lap Consistency:

But where Cooper had Jett's number was consistency. Cooper finished with a 92.2. But it was 27th place Joshua Boaz who topped 450 Moto 2 at 93.3. And we have to remember, 27th place in a Pro Motocross race is nothing to scoff at. That is some incredible consistency by Boaz as he would likely smoke every rider he would race against in any of our hometown races.

Lap 99 Analysis:

In Moto 2, theoretical bests were surprisingly close to actual fastest laps. That tells us something big: most riders laid down their best sector times during their top laps early in the race.
