I'd love to get excited about WMX but I can't. Hell, my kid has raced 2 of these gals in mixed classes fairly recently and beat them both. And he's just a decently quick C class kid that wouldn't qualify in a LLRQ. It's like women's basketball - I just can't care because the level is so far below the men. Yeah, I know most of these gals can whoop my ass but I'm old and slow. Before I got old I was young and slow.

I watch sports to see the best do what they do. Women's skiing and tennis I've enjoyed (Steffi Graf and Serena Williams!) but most other women's sports bore me. Even women's moto. I have 3 daughters so I'm not anti-women by any means. It's just physics.

It's Friday. We are done with moto. My kid heads to Basic Training in a few weeks and then to tech school to be a F-15 EX Crew Chief. But I love this sport and it'll always be in our blood.

Edit: we did over 100 gate drops the last 2-3 years in a row. He's been racing since he was 5, and me for over 40 years. We are core moto.

Charli’s hand doesn’t look good. I wonder how much that’s affecting her?

Mx sports dropped the 125 class & there pushing this again why ?  I think it’s great the women r competing.  I love women’s softball .  But everyone wants a 125 series .  No way any of these girls crack the top 12 in the 125 class on there 250f,s in Wi. D16.  I beat Sara Whitmore easily yrs ago. Plus we had to play soft around her it was like don’t blast her ovr a berm like we did to each other. So I don’t get the hype & cash payout back to 5th right ? What is the payout break down ?  Sunset ridge rnd of the Racer X vet series stiffed all the vet A classes on payout . Saying expenses fuel , flaggers, etc it’s up to the tracks discretion so it was the track that screwed the riders. Surprised because iL. Is know as a good payout state for Experts.  And the Vet racing in America is Much bigger than women’s racing .

The gate had 16 riders. The top 5 all sent the biggest jump on the track. Many of the SMX / combine riders didn’t. I agree there is a delta between the top of that grid and the back but that’s racing. I’m not becoming less interested because someone riding at the back half of the field is being beat by your son.

I'm not sure, but looking at the results, it appears that everyone is fine.

You do you. The level of riding is too weak to attract my interest. Top 5 are decent but they’d get smoked by our local 250B class. And 15 on the gate? Like an MXGP fly-away race.

I remember Patterson and Fiolek and the days when they raced on Saturday in between motos. Enjoyed women’s downhill with Giove and Furtado and Donovan. Current WMX is a pale shadow in comparison.

Stoked for you Aussies, But Badass Lachlan took the Hangtown gold. Badass Lachlan from sleepy little Gardnerville Nevada (right next my town of Minden). Just got to rub it in DW51😁. Jett and Hunter, well maybe you got me there. We'll see. Rooting for Lachlan's brother, Lux, in the 250's. He had a solid SX year. One fastass family.

You're full of it. Ive watched women's for years and your local b class isn't smoking the top 5. The top guys in b at lorettas yes. Pretty ignorant statement when some of these girls actually also race the B class at lorettas. Jordan has raced pro nationals and she's probably around the 4th fastest girl. This field is so much better and more talented than the Patterson days.

Jordan Jarvis got landed on and continued racing throughout the day. That is insane. That girl has some grit. Way more than me. I'd pack up and go lay down after some crazy shit like that lol. Massive respect to these girls.

Seems like a lot. She beat turner by about a minute and a half across 2 motos in an MXW in Australia. I also noticed she's raced MX2 there against the men and was mid pack overall. Moto 1 MX2 with 40 starters she got 16th and was the final rider on the lead lap

The level will only raise and raise, but it needs a proper series ,so I am very happy to see the AMA WMX back.

I think that part of the problem is right now there is no way to watch the WMX racing except for in person. So right now your lack of interest is purely speculative anyway (unless you’ve been to an event that is).

Hopefully next year or for the last few rounds the coverage improves. It would be a great opportunity for a company to title sponsor the broadcast of the series. That would be a serious contribution to the progression of women’s motocross.

Yeah riding with a freshly broken and operated on clutch finger has to be slowing her down a bit. I’m sure jet lag and first big overseas race affected the AMA  girls that came to Aus for that race. It’s going to be awesome when they are all healthy and more comfortable racing internationally so we can see some real battles.

It would be awesome to see WMXON so we can see how this group stack up against Lottie and the MXGP girls.

Just heard Lachlan Turner for the very first time.

Well, if we put Screech awards together, Will has nothing for her.

Only 5 out of 22 riders scoring points are from east or South east states. Then 2 foreign riders and the the other 15 are west coast riders. Way to have the west coast represent.

I always find it strange that Texas is the 2nd most populous state in the country, with almost 32.5 million people, has little representation in motocross, comparatively to smaller states. (CA not included as of course CA is the most populous state).

It’s hard to know whether the swing in form is due to the injury, or the struggle of racing in a foreign country on unfamiliar tracks. Which obviously worked against the US girls in the Oceania Cup, but is now an advantage.

Seen a lot of vids pop up on Youtube from  AJ Catanzaro regarding this topic. He thinks women are gonna narrow the gap between them and male riders a whole bunch in the near future. He even eluded to a top 20 finish at a National.
