Only $10 for all 2026 SX, MX, and SMX series.
You're seriously comparing JS7 being suspended for 2 years, coming back and getting a bad concussion at A1, then coming back and getting lapped in SX and MX races for the rest of the year to Tomac winning a race in the early 2025 deep field then breaking his leg in practice?
It really sucks what happened to James but his racing ability was in serious question coming out of the 2016 series.
I hope Eli lands somewhere good and we get another year or 2 out of him, would be amazing to see Eli, Jett, Chase, Webb, and Deegan all on the line together.
He was suspended for one year (not two), was 3rd fastest at A1 (ahead of the defending champion) and was knocked TF out, pretty much screwing the whole year from there.
James’ last two years of racing were better than Tomac’s. 5 SX wins, an Outdoor win.
Tomac hasn’t raced a national in two years. Multiple injuries. He got lapped at Detroit in 2024.
I do consider these situations to be similar, I am sorry you disagree.
Tomac hasn’t raced a national in 2 years? What are you smoking? He got 3rd at Ironman last year. Man, talk about frying brain cells.
Body double, obviously. The real Eli would have went 1-1

it was 16 months that covered parts of two seasons. His suspension started in April of 2014 so he missed the remainder of 2014 and all of 2015...That's probably why people think 2yrs...
And put a beating on 98% of the worlds best racers.
I would put Reed was in similar situation no?
On paper James was in a better place than he was in real life. Unfortunately that concussion really ended it for him, I think he could have come back without that. There was also a lot of questions surrounding the failed drug test at that time, which in retrospect shouldn't have been as big of a deal as they were.
He was riding really good in 2014 until the suspension announcement then his results really dropped before he stopped racing.
Interesting that he won a race in June 2014 but you state that he missed everything after April...
Kenny: "The Factory Desmo just isn't ready yet to accommodate a crucial works part."
DB said he talked to the Tomacs a few times but ultimately it wouldn’t work out due to a few things the Tomacs wanted. He did say he was surprised at how close they were on terms to making it happen.
And what would them few things they wanted be?
Almost wonder if they weren’t able to accommodate him having his home base in Colorado. Having a second race shop, mechanic etc halfway across the country
Just all the factory parts…
I just can’t see Eli not riding on a factory team. He’ll end up at Ducati or KTM for a couple years and he’ll hang it up when he feels like he’s not competitive anymore. He doesn’t strike me as the kind of guy that will hang around like Barcia or someone who isn’t running up front anymore. He had made enough money, can get a job for any factory team as an ambassador or manager if he wants to keep working. But I can also see him riding out two more years and then retiring and getting into flying or something similar.
I really feel like KTM is his best shot at a championship. I might even put Suzuki over Ducati and Triumph considering the mechanicals that have been had by both brands so far. It would be cool to see him on a Ducati but it would be gut wrenching to see him lose another championship to something out of his control.
I want to see Ducati open up the check book and let Eli show them how its done!
We all know he knows what it will take and that he can still twist it harder than anybody.
Dude is a legend
Anyone watched MXGP can see Ducati has power or maybe even too much power and chassis seems not to handle motor yet. They started with Honda frame and their motor just dont know what direction they went with frame but its still setup problem or just too much motor when track gets rough. Last race in Spain Seewer crashed 3 times and Guadanini had big one after his comeback from previous injury. Tracks at US never get this rough but that handling seems to be their current problem. MXGP allow them to run different frames when needed but AMA you are stuck with production one even you find someting to fix.
Watching Sexton ride that KTM with KYB suspension I would thing that will be better bike but if Ducati includes some sort ambassador, streetbike or car related future it might make more for him.
