I agree he isn’t obligated to tell us anything. If Kawasaki is okay with that then that’s good enough for me. However, he is a public figure so I also get people being curious why he is out and they would say in major sports. I think both things can be true but with this being vital people think you’re a POS if you’re wanting to know why someone is out.

This is as good a place as any to follow-up on this…

As I understand it, Chase has a few really good offers on the table and is mulling things over. Also, I’d be willing to bet that KTM N.A. has one helluva offer on the table. Also, there are those pursuing other rides aggressively, too. While we’ve been hearing from industry gossip that some brands aren’t chasing certain rides for all sorts of reasons like sponsor conflicts or that a certain brand isn’t building a team yet and all that…

Well, some of the “new” teams seem to be making serious offers to these “available riders” and the only rider that seems to have any real “sponsor lock” issue(s) is…

Kenny.

Sounds like his Fox gig is for life and that takes some offers into really strange territory…really…strange. Also, there’s the Red Bull gig that’s been really, really, really good to him.

Where some of these guys end up in 2026 could be pretty damn interesting.

But, since this is a JA21 thread…let’s be clear: Jason’s not now nor has he ever been butt-hurt about his position at Kawi or how they operate. He’s digging it there. Also, he absolutely loves “his crew” at Kawi. From Rango-Wango Z Tango to “Broc 71” to Kaipo and let’s not forget crew-chiefs, team-management and the folks from Japan(that, btw, have been here testing lately, NICE!) that develop the bike…all of it…he loves it there. Period.

As for how things change? No worries. Jason knows where he’s at on the totem pole and it doesn’t really affect his day-to-day life. It’s just business and he’s fully aware that things can and do change.

In the meantime, he’s got a job to do and that is his focus.

I hope Jason has a solid outdoors and ends up with a solid ride next year wherever that may be.

Was broc 71 the guy in the gear in the pics? What's his role in riding? Test guy?

That’s someone who’s personally involved in bike development and knows how to ride, too.

Sergio Avanto?

Maybe Jason is getting plastic surgery.

My older sister once went on an extended vacation. When she returned to racing she had bigger boobs.

That's some witness protection level plastic surgery.

Takeshi Katsuya. 4 time JMX MX2 champion. He is Kawi’s lead test and development rider globally.  He’s responsible for the current gen KX.

I'm picking this arsehole for the win this week.

So the Down votes are because he's not an arsehole, im the arsehole, or you don't think Ando will win?

So confusing.

Actually, couldn’t remember Taka’s last name and didn’t think anyone would know who he was by just simply saying,”That’s Taka.”

When I do post something like that, I get a different kinda ration of shit.

But, hey, guess what? It’s all good. Someone did come in here and explain it.

See y’all at SLC…I’ll be the dude on crutches 🤣

Just spinning back a bit here in terms of the rumour mill on why he sat out. I don't think it's the case, but if he sat out for anything other than an actual family emergency when that was the given reason, that's pretty gutty.

Taka spent a lot of time racing here in Oz back in the 90s and 2000s. He was also a factory Honda development rider. Didn’t know he’d gone to Kawi, that’s cool, he’s a great guy.

Absolutely — Taka was a legend in those days. He and JP were on a different level, pushing limits way beyond most were and they were on 80's at the time what most seniors weren't at the time. . Those CR250s he rocked up to at the shell series with factory parts from Japan,  Just unreal. That bike was throaty — you could hear it echo across the whole Coolum track before you even saw him coming.

And yeah, Taka wasn’t just fast — the guy had personality for days. Always quick with a joke, had that cheeky energy, but when the gate dropped, all business.

Total class act, and yeah — one of the good ones.

I think this fits here... I'm excited to see which side of the team Ando ends up on, hopefully Progressive and not in that terrible Leatt gear.

Leatt isn’t a team deal. Jason will still be in Astars even on the Twisted Tea side of the team.
