Does anyone remember this race? This quad was absolutely nuts. Danny, you are a madman!

Reminds of what a then 16yr old brother of Malcolm Stewart used to do. On a 125. The 250 guys would watch him to learn how to do a section.
I believe he was on a FMF Honda that year.
It was talked about in this thread years back on here. https://www.vitalmx.com/forums/Moto-Related,20/Anaheim-2-Quad,783358
I wonder how many cc that thing was
Pretty sure Casey Lytle did it first in practice.

Remember the triple at the Atlanta speedway they took out a few years back? It was big but not nearly as big as this and many riders complained about it and Hunter came up short.
Make supercross great again.
Peaky jumps, tall whoops, two strokes, technical rhythms, two strokes, Art Eckman & David Bailey, box vans, two strokes. Okay just had to relive my childhood a bit lol
The still shot of Smith towards the end goes harder than any other SX picture.
Also, I miss the days when every rider looked like they were on the cover of a Dennis Kirk catalog.
Yes, but notice the safety style landings built in. Not crazy steep transitions on landers. That quad was knarly, but put that identical jump in now and the whole 250 lcq would hit it because it was a safe lander..
That Atlanta track was awesome.
As he usually would. That guy could jump anything. So long ago but we were sitting close when he did it and it was gnarly.
Guy Cooper was another one that could pull off some pretty big jumps in a clench. I remember him back in Seattle 91 he did a big quad twice. Once in his heat race and once in the main. Not one other rider even attempted it.
OMG Freakin A! @5:30
Holy cow, dude just went for it, lol Gaw
SICK
Danny was a fuckin' stud. only dude i've ever watched hang with Mike Healey back in the day at local races.
Ahh this wasn't the one I was thinking about. It was 99' when the YOT boys went 1-2. Maybe a few 125 guys pulled the trigger, but lytle did it first in practice.
Did someone say Anaheim Quad? 👇
We were sitting on the other side in the P section, he was going higher than the TOYTA sign hanging there at the club level. Every time he did it the crowd went nuts.
The one that riders were trying to scrub only to come up short and blame the jump?
Pit Row
Right? Brayton jumped it on the second lap.
Just because some riders make mistakes on an obstacle doesn't make it overly dangerous.
That jump was massive but it also had a two-tiered landing if I'm remembering correctly.
ETA: Yep. There was a "smaller balls" line if you wanted it...

My nephew was riding futures that year at Atlanta and greased that triple on the first lap. 🤣
Yes, it was one of the best three races I've ever seen live. Danny Smith had big balls doing that quad on a 125. One more lap and he would have had Talon Voland.
I recently watched that , nice find.
