Webb Out for Outdoors?

Listening to the Pulp Denver Review pod, JT had some interesting comments about Webb that are probably innocent. Twice during the podcast, JT stressed IF Webb is 100% healthy, then he'll race all 11 rounds.

With Fly having Webb as their marquee rider and obviously wanting him out there for the brand, would JT potentially know something that others don't, and be dropping hints?

About 36 minutes in, Matthes asks, "if Webb wins this title, do you guys see him grinding out 11 outdoor rounds?" to which JT says "if he's 100% healthy, yes, if not, no"

Then, around 43 minutes, when talking about Salt Lake, JT again says, "if Cooper Webb is healthy and riding the way he knows how to, there are only a few guys that can beat him"

Would it be more surprising if Webb raced all of outdoors, or if he pulled out?

JT is so afraid of offending someone/anyone with his speech that it actually reduces his credibility. I really tune him out now just about anytime he's on. I think Webb does do all outdoors pretty much no matter what simply to shrug off the pending reputation he's an SX opportunist.

This is just my opinion, but I think if he shows up, he shows up and if he doesn't, he doesn't.

No way webb does the whole outdoor series…either an untimely injury or mentally exhausted from SX and needs to ride some local cross country races to get his head right…

Sounds like the perfect excuse to claim a nagging injury sustained late in the season

I wouldn’t be surprised to see him have a wrist injury of some sort between SLC and Pala. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him be at a few rounds of nationals before pulling out with a lingering injury. I also wouldn’t be surprised to see him do all 11 rounds with mediocre results and maybe a flash or two of decent results.

Well IF he’s not healthy that opens up a 450 seat for a guy like JMart.

Interesting choice of words and timing of the JMart announcement. From what I’ve read they haven’t announced what class he will be in. Maybe I missed it.

Why race all summer for a 4th or 5th place result?  Rest up, defend SX '26.

4th or 5th? On his best day that summer. Also why race? What a loser attitude to have.

I think Webb IS an opportunist.  He's highly skilled, and when he's feeling it, and he's in the battle, he's highly focused.

I could see him doing all 11 rounds if he's got a shot at the title.  If not, I expect his focus to wain as it often does, and shift toward SX next year.  Make no mistake, though, he can rise to the level of outdoor risk and competition if he's motivated.  An outdoor 450 title would put him is rare air if he wraps up this SX title as expected.

This would probably be his last outdoor season if he does race them. I say he races to stay sharp for next year.

According to Matthes JMart is doing 3 250 races and they'll see how it goes.

lol, yeah he’s not beating Chase, Eli and Jett outdoors. Most likely Hunter, AP and Prado will also be ahead of him. He’ll struggle to be top 5

Never even thought of this. Didn’t Jmart want to ride 450? And he was going to do it on a kawy on his own?

I don’t know what happened to Webb outdoors from all those dominate 250 rides. He is no slouch on the 450 but not a title threat. Maybe he is doing the first three and seeing where he is points wise? If he comes out crushing it I can see him being even more motivated to stick around.

Maybe you're right, but a lot of people would have said the same thing about SX this year too.

You’re right, he might get lucky and the top contenders go out with injuries outdoors also, it’s happened before

Yes, but this would be the equivalent of making a thread about Savagty or Wilson lining up for SX. Are they really really good compared to the rest of the world? Yes. Does it really matter for the series if they’re there or not? No.

So you think guys who can finish inside the top 10 don’t matter to the series? Interesting.

Yeah, he just needs 6 guys to get injured to win the title...and Sexton to choke.

Did Christian Craig announce he was riding outdoors this year...? I believe he made some sort of announcement last week.

-timing of that announcment.

-timing of this Webb outdoor news.

-Easy transition to the next semi over to fill in (assuming they need to fill the spot...they have #3 and #32).

Connecting dots and wearing my tinfoil hat.

I just see him as a level headed guy? Can easily see both sides of the story.

Maybe just an uncommon trait these days, unfortunately.

I thought his deal included mx too, I don’t remember seeing ever announced as sx only. Media outlets were also saying they heard he was getting benched for outdoors so that seems like his deal included mx, at least that’s how I interpreted it.

I would be surprised if he doesn't spend the summer stuffing his face with McDonald's. The only outdoor action he'll be getting is when he waddles out every couple of days to put all the burger and fries boxes in the trash.

Fourth or fifth? You're smoking PCP my friend. If all the big guns are there he'll be getting 9th or 10th.
