LACR still shut down, is it done? Doesn't seem good at this point.

Fox closed for Spartan? Wtf is that?

Are perris and Cahuilla the only tracks open this weekend?

This sucks! Elsinore can't open soon enough. We need another facility in the rotation. This blows.

Stop suing and bitching about prep! Carry on...

Perris has vintage on Saturday, open practice Sunday only.

GH has LL racing on the main and Saturday motocross on the Vet track.  Fox is closed to dirt bikes until Tuesday, so the only options are Barona or Cahuilla. Both of those tracks are going to be packed like the 405 at rush hour.

I rode in Holland recently, and their practice days are incredibly organized- they stage by skill level and bike size, and you need to have a rider license in order to even get on the track- if you start acting like an asshole, they will yank your license and you can’t ride at any facility.

Why our socal tracks don’t have at least  some  sort of practice day rules and supervision is beyond me. I will say that a few tracks around here , like Perris, have flaggers and EMTS on site every day that I've ridden there.   IMO Glen Helen is without a doubt the most unorganized and lawless motocross facility in So Cal.

When Elsinore re- opens, I wonder if they will actually have their shit together, because the last few operators were not very good.  (Im talking to you, Randy Hiner)

Thanks I didn't even catch that. Unbelievable. Every track decided to have races this weekend!

Go race.

Honolulu Hills it will be tomorrow, but man, the new Cal City layout is a lot of fun, except for the rollers in the back, those can go. Really only jumpers for A and above, the rest of us just bounce through the section. 🤣

Any good?

I live in north county SD and Pala takes less time to get to than Barona. Both great spots

Perris was really fun today. They made some small changes on the main that were really good. Anyone know if that guy who crashed on the finish line towards the end of the day is ok?

It's looking like another weekend where Perris, Barona and Cahuilla are the only options. Who wants to ride Perris Saturday? I'll be the guy laying underneath a KX450 w/ no graphics 😄

Cal City is open for practice Saturday, but it will probably be crowded with the Sunday OTHG racers getting some laps in.

I have work Saturday, so I'll probably just suffer with the masses on Sunday at Cahuilla.

Why would tracks allow trainers to be on the tracks during open ride days? If you want to put on a school rent a track out. Guess they deserve to get sued if they aren’t going to take some control of their facilities

You common issue with all this started with California there is a reason the industry is basically moving out of that garbage dump.  I only ever here that the weather is nice and that's the reason people stay.  I tell you what I hear enough bad stuff that no weather would ever make me want to live there.

Well I agree most riders are moving out because  of economics and stupid traffic but still come back for testing because all the manufacturers headquarters are still in California including ktm's new one which surprised me considering CA stance on ICE!

The problem is you are “hearing” things.  Come see for yourself and I’m not talking LA, that is indeed a shithole, but doesn’t define Ca.   Been here 8 years and never leaving. It’s more than “weather” that keeps me here.

Liking certain states, cities, or regions has become politicized. You’ll never convince these people.

I always heard the weather bs as well. I guess it depends on where you are. I am in "beautiful Santa Cruz" working.  When we took this job everyone mentioned the great weather!!  Okay maybe for some but if you call low-to-mid 40's at night and high 50's and windy in the afternoon, this is for you. Meanwhile back home in po-dunk Alabama its 60's at night and 80's during the day.  Man I cannot wait to seen 95 with 60% humidity again!!

I know, to each his own. Evidently, if you are a surfer of mountain biker this is an awesome place. I don't do either so I cannot wait to head back east 5-30-25.  The one plus is I plan to attend the first 2 races of pro motocross and might even drag ass headed home and catch round 3 in Colorado!!

Where are you from Brocster? I have worked in three different areas in California and granted I haven't worked in the moto area that is Socal but I have visited the area.  Traffic alone is too much for me down there. I don't hate it but I don't love it either. Ill agree that there is so much beauty to see in the state, its not really where Id want to live (not even taking politics in to consideration here).  I work in healthcare so I get to see all the homelessness, psych, and drug/alcohol abuse so maybe that clouds my judgement. When you view the armpits of the world its hard to see the real value I guess.

To you guys that call California home, I am not knocking it fellows. It's what you know and it's your home and I get that. My home isn't much to some people either. I hear from the patient population and how the people out here feel about my area of the world. I have a very pronounced accent so the subject comes up about where I am from with almost every patient encounter.  So, I know how Californians see people from the south. lol  Its fine I don't take it as an insult and btw we do have schools there (gets mentioned a lot to me). lol

The dems are pushing for a mileage tax and if/ when they pass it, it's gonna be tough to stick it out here.

I am originally from 20 miles west of New Orleans and have been all over the Southeast including Alabama, Been to Monster Mountain several times as well as Talledega. I don’t miss the heat, humidity, constant rain, flat earth (meaning no mountains), the bugs, the mold, the mildew, etc etc.

Just know that Northern California, Central California and Southern California are very different from each other as is Gulf Shores to Birmingham to Tallassee.

To each their own but don’t let one small sample of Ca cloud your vision of the rest of what the state has to offer. Much like I wouldn’t ask someone that visited Grand Isle, La, “what did you think of the state?”as it’s the polar opposite from Monroe, La.

If you ever make it back to Southern California cruise PCH South from Newport Blvd all the way thru Laguna Beach and into San Clemente and let us know what you think.  In San Clemente go down Del Mar ave to the pier and then back up.

If you are going to Pala National this could be a scenic way down to Oceanside then 74 East straight towards Pala. Would be much more “scenic” then bombing down the 15 not seeing much of anything of what Ca. has to offer.

I actually liked San Francisco and San Diego but LA is not my favorite for sure. Like any big city, if you want trashy neighborhoods you can find them.  I've been all over the state, many times. I've been to many of the areas you mentioned. Hell I've basically lived in the state the last two years.  Spent six months in Santa rosa (loved it), four months in Merced (didn't like it) and now, three months in Santa cruz (jury still out).

It's what you get used to I guess. Like you Brocster, I do not care for the bugs, gnats flies, etc. and I also know everywhere is different. Like I said, it's not that I don't like it, it's just not for me on a regular basis that is.  I've driven the PCH top to bottom twice, and a couple times  half way. California is a beautiful place to visit.

At this point my home in bama sits empty a lot more than I'm there. I live in an RV most of the time now it seems.

I'm not hating on California. I've had a lot of fun here. I guess this cold ass shitty weather just making me miss home! Lol

I appreciate the route advice. Always looking for new places to see and check out and it's warm down there. Lol

Btw, I'm not trying to sell the south like it doesn't have MAJOR issues itself.  It's whatever you are used to id imagine. But I'll definitely drive the route you mentioned.

So, I know how Californians see people from the south. lol  Its fine I don't take it as an insult and btw we do have schools there (gets mentioned a lot to me). lol

Btw, I'm not trying to sell the south like it doesn't have MAJOR issues itself.  It's whatever you are used to id imagine. But I'll definitely drive the route you mentioned.

In Corona Del Mar set your GPS to Corona Del Mar state beach and cruise Ocean Blvd in both directions there pull over at the lookout and take it in.  Same in South Laguna, pull over at Montage Resort and walk the public area. Just South of that is Strands Beach with parking and a huge overlook. So much to see and do if you are an outside person, and the beauty of it is pick your “thing” and just go do it. The elevated costs here, I consider the “country club fee” that I would have to pay elsewhere to simulate these amenities that are just out the door.

Why would tracks allow trainers to be on the tracks during open ride days? If you want to put on a school rent a track out. Guess they deserve to get sued if they aren’t going to take some control of their facilities

It's similar to fitness personal trainers.  They go the gyms of their clients.

I don't have a problem with trainers training people on open practices days, as long as things are done safely.

People do other stupid things at the track too.  I'm not in favor of dogs at the tracks, except possibly when they're on a leash, and not left unattended.

I also confronted a dude once, who thought it was a good idea to drive a large RC vehicle on the track while people were riding.

He didn't take it to well, told me that he knew he was an asshole, and that he didn't care.  The track didn't do anything about it either.

Riding MX is hard enough.  I don't think we should have to think about RC cars or animals running across the track.

I've yet to have a riding coach, but I always assumed that unless it was a large class, it would be during an open practice.

I expect to ride a lap or two, get some things to work on, rinse, repeat.  I don't see how that would cause any problems.

To me it’s a little different having a riding coach there to critique your riding and offer tips than it is for a coach to be holding a class and doing drills. But if the track doesn’t care who am I to question why they allow it…
