I looked and didn't see any discussion on this. Wishing her a successful surgery and recovery.

I hate to see kids get hurt. I hope she heals up quickly and gets back to 100% soon.
This sucks…. When my daughter said she wanted to play Soccer vs riding MX, deep down I was relieved, couldn’t handle seeing my little girl all busted up…I hope she makes a full recovery….
Get well soon Moto Sister Kiah 💕 prayers sent to all
Yep when my daughter rode I always seemed to worry as she had that fearless gene, not sure where she got that from, lol. But seems cheerleading and gymnastic are the most dangerous or frequent of life changing injuries, seems soccer is next with mostly lower body injuries, ACL etc...
Doubt mainstream stats even inculde moto, or other exterme sport. Golf and tennis seem the safest
..prayers and a speedy recovery for the lil Reed

This is the part that scares me with my kids riding. But my son broke his arm playing catch with a foot ball so I’ve kinda learned it’s going to happen. I try to teach them riding with good technique and within your ability. But nothing is safe. Get well soon
Hopefully no surgery needed!
Reed just put a post up wishing her a successful surgery, hope it all goes well for her.
Poor girl. Hope she’s ok and heals up quick. Hate this so much for her and the whole family man. They’ve had a tough year.
sry to ask.....she crashed while riding.?
"Earlier today she had a crash during practice. We took her to the hospital thinking lungs, ribs. Nope, sis has compression fractures of her T6, T7, T8, T9 & T10 vertebrae."
This is going to make me sound horrible - but I will take the heat.
If my son had these injuries, it would take an act of congress to get him back on a bike...But if my daughter had these injuries, over my dead body is she getting back on a bike.
Nothing but positive thoughts and prayers for Ms. Reed. Heal up girl!
Damn! That sounds horrible.
Best wishes to her.
"If you're willing to let Andrew take that risk, don't you think it's a bit hypocritical that you're not also willing to do the same thing for Andrea" 😉
epic comment. 10/10, well done
Ton of head injuries in soccer as well due to all of those headers
As bummed as I was when my son decided last year that didn't want to ride anymore, I was also relieved after seeing a lot of ours friends kids getting hurt and some other serious injuries. He decided on baseball and that's been great with way less worry of injury until last weekends game when one of his friends/teammate from fall hit a line drive straight back at my sons face(my son is the opening pitcher for his team). I thank God my son pay enough attention and has quick reaction times because he was able to get his glove up fast enough to beat the ball to his face and almost got the out. We knew it was a possibility for that to happen at some point, but it didn't happen to any pitchers in fall and hadn't happened this spring until last weekend. No matter what the sport, injuries are always going to be a part of it in one way or another.
Praying surgery goes well for Kiah and she heals up quick!
PRAYING FOR THE REED FAMILY
Oh yes, soccer players dying left and right to head injuries... lmaoooooooo.. some people will beLIEve anything...
Pit Row
My nephews daughter was a really good volleyball player growing up. She decided to give it up before her senior year because she had gotten one too many concussions from being spiked on. She was a straight A student and she could tell it was affecting her ability in the class room.
Anyways, that's neither here nor there. All those broken vertebrae for the young Reed girl must be painful and very scary. Wishing her the best and strength to her mom and dad through this rehab.
Head injuries are very rarely instant death but keep being ignorant
Last night was the first time in 9 years that my boy didn't line up for PiR's Thursday Night Motocross season opener. He's in college now and has evening classes. While a big part of me missed not doing our usual race prep and race evening, another big part of me was relieved that we weren't risking yet another injury.
He's had several concussions and broken bones from moto. It has affected his ability to get into the Air National Guard - he has had to go through multiple medical reviews to prove the plates (collarbone and wrist) and concussions haven't had any significant affect on him. Long term who knows what these injuries will mean to him. Lately he's been playing some golf for fun, and so far hasn't had a single concussion or needed something plated.
I'm ok with it.
That was brilliant.
I figured you'd get that one, haha
Keep that head buried firmly in the sand broski...
As they say, ignorance is bliss.
Wonder what kind of crash it was.... the family had been testing the new Astars chest pro.
Kid's usually heal fast, hope things go well.
There are not tons of head injuries due to heading the ball in soccer. I played soccer from youth to HS, college and men’s leagues. Never had a single heading related head injury. I don’t even know a single person that I played with or any of my 3 kids played with that had one from heading a ball. Most head injuries in soccer are from contact with another player. The problem that is going to develop tho with heading in soccer is it’s now not being taught properly.
This. I played high level travel soccer growing up and started Varsity all 4 years in high school, and raced A/pro-sport in moto. I broke some fingers and tore a knee once in soccer. I have broken collarbones, humorous, wrists, torn knees, an ankle, and multiple brutal concussions from moto.
That being said - at 41, I still moto and haven't played any competitive soccer or even pick up in maybe 15 years or more. Injuries be damned, one is way more addicting than the other.
As a girl dad with a 14 year old who motos, I know Chad is feeling it right now and having deep internal dialogue. All he can do is not pressure her and if she wants to come back on her own and can, that's the path, if she's scared, don't push her.
Tons of science and data out there that the repeated "hits" to the head from heading the ball are not good for you. Just like the repeated small hits from playing football aren't good for you.
Now....I do know that it's 2025 and we all like to pick and choose what Science to believe so it's all good dawg.... you do you.
That's terrible. Get well soon,Kiah!
The average soccer player heads a ball less than 1x a game. Even in practice it's not something you do in large amounts. I don't think football or rugby is a good comparison for this.
Also, there's a skill to doing it where you aren't just getting hit in the head by the ball. You're meeting the ball where motion meets motion.
I'm not saying no one can get CTE. But I've woke up on the side of a SX track to people thinking I was dead from a crash and that worries me a lot more any of the headers I may have did in soccer.
Post a reply to: Reed's daughter injured.
