I just don’t really understand the mentality of people that watch the broadcast and seemingly are more interested in ‘catching’ the announcing team or the production team making a mistake than the actual race……

It’s just what Vital has turned into. A forum of hate. If you acknowledge it you got guys like USA who will try to defend it.
It makes no sense.
Because you have no choice! If you want to watch the race you have to listen to them, they barely talk about the actual race that is taking place on the screen. They tell you stories about the riders, and how they feel, and how they rode at the test track, and how they felt about last weeks race, and how they are doing, etc. I want to hear about the race taking place in front of my eyes (when they aren't showing AP jumping in puddles) on the track. Follow the battles on the track, I already know _____ is up by 6 seconds, show me the pass for 2nd or the battle for the 5th. If there is a replay, show it on a small screen while the race continues on the big screen. I'm all for lead-ups and narratives, but please discuss it between moto's, not while there is a race going on, cause that's when you talk about the race, and they always seem to forget that.....
They're easy to catch because they immediately stand out. I don't think anyone is watching/listening to the broadcast and zoning in specifically to catch mistakes.

I try to stay away from these threads cause we talk about how atrocious the ufc broadcast is every post fight card review so im tired of hearing & seeing the word broadcast 😂😂 but I went back & watched some of the races back to just zoned in on Leigh in specific, this brotha don’t take moto serious at all , his tone , his delivery, his knowledge, seem like he just doing this gig cause nbc threw some money his way to be up there , now paul malin in the gps is a great representation of wht the sport of motocross can offer broadcaster & analysis wise & I kno nbc ain’t goona change a thing but just my 2 cents of a outside perspective from a fan & podcaster , u run the broadcast team with stew , weege , yes RC & JT , RC’s case u need a Batman to his robin which would be stew
I think people here and in the moto community see the broadcast (especially SX) as the front door of the sport to the rest of the world. Most love this sport very much and naturally want it represented accurately and what’s happening to be articulated in the best way possible.
I couldn’t have said it better myself. Among the 10+ guys I watch the race with every week, and their spouses that are doing their thing in the other room. Like clockwork every week we get the “omg she’s annoying can you turn the tv down”.

I don’t slam the broadcast for fun. I slam the broadcast because they assume the fans of this sport are idiots and treat us as such. Watch an MXGP race then turn on peacock. It’s way more professional, core moto, less blathering on about stupid shit, replays during great racing, etc. We had the race on in the truck on the way home from the track yesterday so I could only listen to it, not watch it. What a complete utter disaster and frankly an embarrassment to the sport entirely.

I don't see a lot of trash talking AC or Brayton. Nor JT. RC and Diffey merit bitching about, getting a title sponsor incorrect for a major team in a series you are to be an authority of is inexcusable.
I heard JT talk about Webb's speed in the whoops relative to AP, when he meant Sexton. The next sentence he talked about Sexton/Webb correctly. The difference is that JT will read the criticisms - of which he seems to already be attentive and critical of himself - and improve that is his mentality.
I would hope that Leigh and RC take the criticisms, though harsh, and improve. But it seems to be taken as "keyboard warriors not important" not "real fans want better".

Think about it from a larger standpoint. Our sport has every opportunity to be an example of professionalism and fun. They are small enough, yet large enough to achieve both. But our lovely production crew steered by Bondo is actually embarrassing when you look at it objectively.
The timing, the story line injections, the 2nd grade graphics team, the awful music they play over the sound of the stadium atmosphere. So so so many SIMPLE easy changes could be made. Why on earth do we have 6 announcers who can't even do the job of 1 in Europe? Talk about a bro sho... they pay each of them and a team around each of them. Why not slice that shit in half, and put money where it should go to improve the product?
Better camera angles, better sound to actually hear the action. The announcers are always too loud and you can't hear the bikes. Let the people watching feel the damn atmosphere. Stop telling idiotic stories throughout the night and simply talk about the racing at hand and focus on that. Focus on what is legit in front of them and let it play out. Like I said before, this is just pathetic on there part. It is a large bro sho while collecting money and the actual product is dog poo. They could really change things for the better that highlights our sport in a meaningful way.
As many times and Diffy says “spare a thought for _______” you’d think he could have said “spare a thought for Jerry Robin” this weekend.
