Allegiant Stadium in Vegas is the only one that doesnt allow dirt inside as of yet.

Football stadiums are generally a no go before the Super Bowl.

SoFi won't hold SB till 2027 so there are some questions on why SX is not held there.
SLC has forked over a lot of money to be the final and is a smaller field size than most stadiums.

But then to have all the dirt pulled into SoFi for only a Monster Jam is odd.

It’s showing more rain than it did for Foxboro on Saturday, not much, but I have a feeling it will be comparable

Timing matters though. There is a good chance we get no rain during the “night” show, and hopefully it stays covered before practice for the majority of the rain. It was sunny out today, and no rain tomorrow, so the track should be pretty dry if they skip press day.

Rain should stop a few hours before gate drop.  Skip press day. Cover the track and only one qualifying practice. If you ask me.

Yes, opening ceremonies at 2:30.

Here is what I'm seeing...25% chance all day.

If the last half of SX season is likely mudders what is the point of the first half of the season championship points wise. Mudders give totally random results and can destroy a season of points building ala Tom Vialle, make totally incomprehensible TV coverage, destroy bikes, and make 7-10 lap mains acceptable. Totally different scenario than normal SX races.

So what should they do, cancel the rest of the series? Post-pone them until after nationals? Keep the series only in sunny/dry areas? We’ve had northeast races for the last 11 years and have had 2 mud races during that time.

If it does end up being a mudder similar to Foxboro, this is going to be a wild points shakeup for the East/west shootout (I’ll never call it a showdown)

An idea I have had for a long time is this should be a 12-round series. 4 rounds a one-week break, 4 rounds another one-week break, and then a grand finale 4 week stretch to decide the championship. This would allow them to be choosier of their sites, give the riders a break, increase the importance of each round, and perhaps increase the effect of the SMX championship - perhaps add a race to that series. No need for 17 rounds with 4 in snow/rainstorms, this is a supercross championship, not motocross. And as far as the Northeast, they have Southwick, Unadilla, a national in Pa., they'll be fine.

They’ll never shorten the series to 12 races. Theres 10 domed stadiums in the US, supercross goes to 4/5 out of the 6 that allow dirt inside. January all football stadiums are off limits, Feb-March the domed stadiums are used. There are no domed stadiums on the east coast aside from Tropicana field. Not sure what shortening the series and a 1 week break every month would do for the weather.

They would have to be early season rounds because of scheduling but gotta be 10 or so MLB stadiums that also have a roof. Milwaukee comes to mind. Syracuse and San Antonio also have enclosed venues that would work.

Cut SX down to 12 rounds, expand SMX to 5 rounds, start MX at the beginning of May to include more southern tracks. Any northern/northeast sx rounds missed can be made up with SMX rounds in the fall.

If they keep the Philly track covered until Saturday morning it should be in ok condition. The rain is supposed to hit Friday and overnight, hopefully it tapers off sooner than later.

And the flagging crew. Those guys must have been exhausted from trying to walk in that sticky mud and help pull bikes up and out of the muck

Go back to the days where the Nationals and Sx intertwine each other. Then Sx finals will be in nicer weather.  Gatorback back to the opening round. No more permanent numbers, nationals on Sunday, Saturday for qualifying. Now get off my lawn!

If given the option of watching a 12 race series guaranteed to be dry and a 17 race series with 5 mud races and 12 dry ones? I'll take 17 races with mudders every time. I know the racers might disagree, but for this fan? More is better.

Speedways like Louden, Pocono, Martinsville, Chicago, or dirt ovals. I think those places make better tracks for SMX than stadiums or drag strips

Schedule the races to indoor venues, it ain't rocket science.

No northern venues are available in the fall. Pre season football starts in August. Baseball is going until September. NHMS has events until October. I dislike mud races as well, but it’s not like FELD schedules the series by throwing a dart at a map.
