I thought the bike recovering the same day as him going to buy a new one was a joke till I saw his page!

On the pulp show they really made a joke out of it. I’ve never heard weege have negative feelings towards anyone and you could tell he couldn’t stomach this.

Jesus I'm so lost. The cops did find the bike? Since when do the cops ever find a stolen bike and recover it? LoL so JLaw did something shady is the thought? Again, I'm lost

If the funds all get returned, I take back some of the bad things I’ve said about him..

We need NXTbets to give us odds on whether the money gets returned or not.

Stupid. Unfortunate but peoples bikes get stolen everyday and they dont get jack shit let alone a go fundme. Never understand why people contribute to these things for people that have been richer than they ever will in their life at some point and pissed it all away.

Well, technically he said IF you want a refund you must let him know and then he will take care of it.

I haven't listened yet but Weege is a bit of a closeted aristocrat. I see nothing but positive for JLAW being upfront about it. I don't get the controversy.  If the recovered bike is clapped, it being recovered at all is still moot less salvage value

Atleast cops near him gave a damn because theyre sure as hell worthless for getting bikes back here in Ohio, even with a known location.. smfh..

I didn’t take it that way. It sounded like he didn’t know how to refund, other than waiting til the auto refund at the end of the month and was more so asking if people wanted the refund before then, to message him directly. I’m not surprised he isn’t computer savvy enough to figure out how to refund. Evan PayPal kicks my ass and I’m around the same age as him

I can understand that. And that makes sense not to know how to go about refunding if it’s your first time using it. But it takes about 2 seconds on Google to figure it out.

"If you sent me a donation but really wish to recover your money ASAP because your the type of guy who don't have much of a savings to speak of"

Am I the only one who senses him being a prick with this statement? WTF would anyone donate money for a bike, only to have the bike be recovered, and just think "oh na it's cool just keep my money bro I don't need it anyways"....seriously???  Hopefully anyone who donated can see this for the bullshit it is/was and doesn't help him again. I knew Jason as a teenager when I was doing stupid shit too but the older I got the more I realized how dumb the things we did were i.e. "growing up" which he never did. I was happy to see him have success because he had talent and we were cool, I'd tell him to go do what I couldn't since I was in a chair but at the same time knew he would fuck it all up. Knowing him the way I did...he's sitting there right now thinking "I deserve to keep the money, yeah I got the bike back that I didn't pay for in the first place, but if people were willing to give me their money then obviously they don't really NEED it so I'll just keep it, unless they wanna be a little bitch about it and want it back."   I swear I can hear him saying those exact words right now which is why I didn't donate shit to him and shook my head when people did.  I don't know if it was really stolen...to have it returned and in the same condition is one HELL of a miracle, but it doesn't matter anyways. I could see this coming a mile away and doesn't surprise me at all.

He's not a bad person, just a dipshit who's never been forced nor wanted to really grow up.  When you look at someone like Dungey or Villo, married with kids living very comfortably and happy compared to Jason living in a trailer on family property and "making a living" off weekend pro purses at local tracks....that's as perfect of a example of "get what you deserve".

Keep in mind Weege recently dealt with his mother who got scammed by "offshore" shall we say people who made her hand over a shit ton of money in amazon gift cards. He is really sour on even a hint of a scammer. So cut the aristocrat some slack.

I remember when teams would prep a race bike just for JLaw not to show up. He’s gotta have a ton of regret and I would imagine it’s embarrassing/hard as hell to show up at a track being JLaw and knowing everyone thinks how you just blew it. Probably why he hid out for so long.

Completely out of context. He said all the money would be refunded by June 25, but if you want it sooner, contact him.

If he would’ve followed that up with a statement that all donations will be returned on June 25th or sooner if you contact me, then your point would be better taken.

I’m not taking sides on any of it, but he left the returning of the money open-ended, in my opinion

First people accused him of selling his bike and starting the GoFundMe to scam, then he posts a video with an officer showing him his stolen bike and that the suspect has been arrested. Then people rush to the comments to tell him he needs to return the money, insinuating he wasn’t going to, before he even addressed it.

Dude has made a huge comeback in the last couple years since he started really posting on his IG, I don’t think he would squander that and piss off the 1% of his fanbase that would actually donate money to him for a replacement bike. This would be a scheme that would send his reputation to the shadow realm after years of building it back up.

I don’t think he’s the shithead that he used to be, and I just refuse to believe that he’s that stupid, in general. People need to let it all play out.

so im not going to lie i had to google "aristocrat" as i thought it meant something different to what i thought. but please tell me how that is. the guy works non stop. he may have a lot more money than he spends and is cheap to the point even the general public know. but hes not really above anyone, never acts like he is, and is somewhat the opposite. not sure i am understanding what youre trying to say?

Too complicated, don't want to derail the forum. He's very intellectual and doesn't suffer fools gladly as they say.  He's a really good guy that does work his ass off.

But if you like, the frank herbert quote (Dune), pardon the politics...

"Scratch a conservative and you find someone who prefers the past over any future. Scratch a liberal and you find a closet aristocrat."

Imagine Jason Lawrence calling out people for being the types of guys with no saving to speak of. You needed a GoFundMe me for a new bike! Im glad he's riding and racing as much as he is now. But he's such a case of arrested development, it's scary. His Instagram is embarrassing. Trying to insert himself in the JuJu/ Deegan rivalry. Grow up man

Fuck refunding your money. Sorry, but if you are in a position to give J Law money for a new bike, then you’re in a position to donate to a charity like Road2Recovery.

J Law should use some of the funds to make sure the bike is good to go, then donate the rest to R2R.

Support the sport.

So, you don't think the people that donated money for a specific cause should have the right to determine how their money is either used or refunded to them now that the reason they donated is no longer valid?

I like the recent incarnation of J Law. I think his social media has been quite entertaining if you take it with a grain of salt. Him smoking a black and mild on the starting line is HILARIOUS.

If you donated money to him and don't get it back, that's on you though. A little forethought would go a long way.

What did J Law do to Matthes to get him so riled up about this? Between this comment on IG:

IMG 0983 6

…this tweet:

IMG 0984 2.jpeg?VersionId=203lyDxQwTiYIw

…then shit-talking him for some laughs at the very top of the live Pulp show this week, I’m just curious what he did to Steve to where he has such strong feelings about the situation when he could have ignored it and carried on.

The “what happened to the money you made racing” question seems weird when the guy won one 250 SX title seventeen years ago. And the “get a job” thing, shit, I work a full-time job and if someone stole my bike, I still wouldn’t be able to afford another one for a long time. I just don’t see anything wrong with J Law asking his fanbase for help if they’re obviously willing to help him.

If you follow his IG, you’ll see that he seems grateful for all he’s been given these last few years. He’s constantly thanking his sponsors and supporters, he even posted some longer videos where he scrolled through his GFM and thanked each person that donated by name… that makes it hard for me to believe he’d run off with the money, but I’ve been wrong before.

Should RacerX have promoted the GoFundMe on their IG? Probably not. But for the moto media guys to rail on him about this because of seemingly personal vendettas leaves a poor taste in my mouth, personally.
