Reading some of the comments here, you’d think it impossible to have a nuanced view of things - to think something someone does is stupid without hating them. I think Deegan is a fantastic rider with immense talent, I enjoy watching him succeed, I wish him continued success, I think the arrest for doing donuts is trivial, and I think he’s being an embarrassing dork with the way he’s handling things at the moment. I don’t hate the kid - quite the contrary. But I think the schtick he’s engaging in now is contrived and ridiculous. But if that’s what he (or, more likely, the people around him) want to do for a few bucks, then that’s fine. I think it’s cringy but they have no reason to care about what I think. Perhaps I’m just a crotchety old fart who just doesn’t get it.
That's my take as well. I didn't even have a huge issue w him doing donuts in the car. As I said, a lot of us have been irresponsible when we were young. But the merch and theatrics, to me, is very corny. I still like his work ethic, and his riding. I do think that the personna aside, he's probably a good person. But they want to reap the rewards of posting everything online and doing things for attention, so they also invite the criticism. That's how it works. And I will never understand the ppl on here or online etc that are on a crusade to defend his every move. You can like a rider but still call it as it is. And I think whatever stupid spin they are trying to put on the situation (whether it's "badass" or funny or just the attention in general) is cringe.
What a great post. Everything has to be all or nothing now. Either you're a hater or a fanboy. No grey area at all. I like Deegan. He's entertaining as hell outdoors. I think he's got a lot of work to do in sx if he's gonna win on a 450. And he still might never win a 450 SX title. "You hater!" But I just said he's an animal in mx? Absolutely can win a 450 MX title. No bueno, I'm labeled a hater. Just like with the arrest. No big deal. But the merch drop was a little questionable. It's wild how tribalist the fanbase are at this point

If he would've put as much energy in studying the track instead of monetizing his jail-time he probably wouldn't have been destroyed by his 17 year old team mate. Deegan should by the way learn to get himself in check, no mater what is said, you don't touch your competition. Hitting him with that bitch slap!
Last time I checked he salvaged a 3rd after falling in the second corner, and still has the points lead, and probably gained a few points. And while doing that, he is making money from the merch sales. Also, just because his address is public record, doesn't mean that someone should post it on his social to take a dig at haiden, also putting him at risk to doxxing.
