My wife became a naturalized citizen about 10 years ago. The ceremony was truly impressive. Watching people from all over the world achieve their dreams was an unforgettable experience. It’s a deeply proud moment for any family. Congratulations, Roczens!

wicksy85 : They've  - the  Hunta Bros and Families - got Visas - a Work  / Sports Visa is an entirely different thing to Citizenship. Cripes, I've had those in the USA and other countries.

As an aside, I've had a fair few friends obtain their Australian Citizenship, and gone to  a few of the ceremonies. They are very special events, even for those of us who are only witnessing it, let alone the actual participants. I daresay the US ceremonies, are even more grandiose / moving.

No. Doesn’t work like that. He is still very much a German. This just means he also has the same rights, protections and obligations as a US citizen. I.e he can vote and do jury duty.

I don't think so. That's why he waited until now because Germany didn't use to allow people to have two citizenships. So he would have had to renounce his German one. But they changed the law in 2024. Smart move - having two citizenships is great.

Roczen,,,how can you not just like this guy. Leaves his home country at a young age and sacrifices his life to come here to race, works hard, wins championships...goes through hell with injuries and comes back stronger than ever with issues that would kill a normal person...THEN decides to become a citizen of the country he has given so much to. I think it’s Great. But I don’t think the test is that hard. My Mom is from Holland & came ovr after ww2.  She passed the test as a 10 yr old I think.  They changed tge spelling of her 1st name at Elllis island Irma to Erma . The women said that’s the way it’s spelled in America, which isn’t true.  My Mom changed her middle name from Christeen Ann the Rae.  Not because of Marylin Monroe. Because a older girl in school had the middle name.   When she became a American citizen. My last name is Naitive American it was changed long ago to a more English name.  It’s multi meaning the main was is The Forrest . GW called us the Invisible warriors of the Forrest. We used a advanced technique of multiple curled waves  in different directions to hunt. The same is war.  In Vietnam they tried it but it didn’t work because they ended up shooting each other. The military still can’t use it the speed of too many directions.  They attacked from trees too.  I was joking with another part Indian a gorgeous chic. About being 3 yrs old & climbing all ovr apple trees. She said her brothers did the same. Interesting. Chatted to my accountant about it and he advised against . US has one of the most punitive tax systems in the world (only Eritrea and Hungary are as bad) and will tax you on any earnings made outside the US - so even if you are a permanent resident of and living in another country and earning your income there the US will grab what it considers it’s share of that income ( if you are a US citizen) .
