Zook, As crazy as some of Prof125 posts are , I  definitely have to call  MAJOR bullshit on this one  lmao !!   Like most areas in the US , we have 3 Wal Marts located within a 15 mile radius of our  store, and we receive shit tons of credit apps from Wal Mart employees- I will tell you that the highest payrate I've seen on any non-mgmt Wal Mart employee is right around  $20/hr .( and I have hundreds of paystubs and W2's to back that up)   And "full timers" typically  only get a 36 hour workweek. So.....simple math ----   36 hrs x $20 = $ 720 x 52 weeks =  $ 37,440 --roughly half of what he's claiming.  Now granted, I can only speak for our West Pa area , but 72k /year is most definitely false news .

Im sure Rc isnt in as good financial shape as you would think.  Divorce is brutal,he sold his compound because of it.  Giving up half of your net worth, paying for lawyers for both yourself and the ex, and all the other fees that go into divorces, and child support and spousal support for life isnt easy.  AND he got married again so if divorce strikes twice, well you can only afford to have so many lifetime people on the payroll.  Ive seen many guys I know that lost basically all their finances that had a lot of money and had to start over.

at $10k/show, this would explain why JS7 sorta comes/goes with commentating. For multi-millionaires (such as RC and JS), I cannot imagine getting motivated to pack up, fly across the country, get a hotel, deal with all the weekend's requirements, then fly home exhausted and think "Sure am glad I got $10k".  Also makes me think this job is just for RC to still feel involved and relevant in the sport, though I think he'd do waaaaaaaay better with just brand ambassador work or even just being the very random 3rd person in the booth. My .02

I'll make this point again...

Even for a multi-millionaire, $10k for 3 days travel, expenses paid, to do something you still have an interest in and "love"...is good money. That's a solid investment of time for them. Sure they can pick and choose how many they do, like Stewart, but banking $10k for that makes a difference.

In my experience, people with money tend to value money more than most without it.

Hey ML! Can you make a new Tearoff Feature that gets rid of duplicate threads? We get to vote a thread irrelevant if its the exact same thing as previously posted.

The third post in on this thread, "a comment was made that RC makes somewhere around $10k per show".  Three pages later, $10k is somehow confirmed.  FFS, people wonder how things spiral out of control so quickly in the motoverse. I doubt that RC is negotiating his own contracts, and advisement and endorsements deals makes up most of his salary.  His commentator gig is probably just to support the interest in his other contracts.

ok, guess i'm hard-wired a little different, though neither of us are wrong. You put $10m in my account and then ask me to fly to red bud, work 12-16 hour days for a long weekend + travel + etc............No thanks. I'll chill in my palatial pad and ride my dirt scooter around my backyard track.

But I get that some folks like staying in the public eye more so at that point, the money still isn't the motivator.

EDIT - should also add that you also have to take this $10k/weekend gig and then sometimes deal with this extraordinary amount of insane blowback from the very fanbase you love........or you could stay at home and watch the races? For me, I'll just watch the races and shine my trophies!

not in this industry in particular. I'm not interested in being Vital's "Villian of the Week". Not for (LOL) - $10k a weekend.

Why must every discussion on this web site come back to money?

Because there alot of rich people on here . But not many make more than 10k a week.  For those that don’t know people that live in Appleton call Green Bay ghetto bay . A union excavating co said where u live man. I said Green Bay east side . They laughed & said ghetto bay   .  I said seriously u think gb is a ghetto?  I asked my late uncle that lived near there. He laughed & said oh yeah we called it that for decades.  It’s soo deep that if your Dad died this week & your stuck in blizzards & snow storms all week . Yak has to keep it going.  I don’t remember ever insulting him though.   If u ever been on tv & did a commercial or your pipeline co has u on tv a lot .  People get weird thinking there’s huge money or I think it’s the attention. That they want . It works for picking women oh big time . They get to brag I got that guy on tv.  I don’t think the kid was lying about 72k , 19 per hr 70 hr weeks is 83k .  I didn’t get 78 per hr on the hhg rig I usually got 19 an hr but worked 84-120 hrs a week , plus perdium.  To make gross of ovr 100k in the 90,s.  2/3 goes to taxes.  I got 35 an hr in 94 on a project , other pay 4 doing stuff like handling a huge union strike .  Everyone is secret about there wages yrs I never said what I made while getting it.  But yrs later it’s not a big deal talking about wages from 30 yrs ago.

Around 2020 it used to be $500 for the day. That was for a girl that been doing it for a few years so maybe she was getting more than others.

JT is an excellent trackside reporter but yes, his look is pretty fucking weird. Having said that, I'd take a naked person painted blue commentating over that babbling halfwit RC, his sidekick Tintin, and that insufferable yapper Will.

I wouldn't bet the farm on it but just an a specific number I heard that stuck with me and I couldn't decide if I thought that was a lot of money for that gig or not. Probably biased by Ricky's estimated wealth from all his years winning races/championships.
