I misspoke. We only heard about this clown starting in 2023 and he's a fkn nobody. No one watches the sport for the announcers. We watch it for the racing. But, mainly I haven’t said a word because I agree with you. If Blair’s comments are true, it makes sense. NBC gives through contract to Feld a network package, those folks believe in the people they have in place, but do not believe in DB. From there it is their business to choose who they want to run their show and how they want to run it. It is apparently working well too because their viewers per race were up in 2024 by over 25% per race. 

At the end of the day, it is just a business decision, and Blair didn’t make the cut. But it also doesn’t give RC any right to act the way he did on that track walk.

That video clip of Arlington, you can clearly see the animosity in RCs face and the surprise in DBs. With as bad at announcing Ricky is I’m not surprised he would feel threatened by DB. Just hope AC and Brayton “toe the line” so we don’t lose 2 more articulate presenters.

JT is more the one that needs to be careful. He's more directly on RC's turf, is way way better than RC, and is rapidly improving. 

Incidentally, has anyone noticed how they'll throw to JT who will then give a succinct interesting piece of information about the actual race then they'll cut back to RC and he'll try to piggy back on everything JT just said, but butcher it? Do the higher ups just let this stuff slide? Surely they must see how terrible RC is? The whole situation is baffling...

Presumably being the GOAT of MX allows him to get a pass being the WOAT of announcing...

my 3 cents...

They pushed DB one too many times and he couldnt hold it in anymore. He knew that was the end of NBC for him.

I'm not sure why RC is taking all the heat - he was mean but DB clearly said it was the other 2 guys.

RC is a crap announcer and hasn't really improved since he started and probably shouldnt be there. AC should watch his back.

I agree this is definitely hurting the sport. DB is just looking for drama. And giving vital forum one more thing to hate. Which is the last thing vital needs. These are the same people who care more about the announcing than the racing. Outside of vitalmx the fans don’t have a problem with the announcing.

What “hate” does RC get? Just because people point out what everyone can see with their own eyes that hes not very good in the booth does not equal hate. Everybody says hes a god on a bike, his career is incredible, and hes the greatest of all time. They also say that because he devoted his entire life from a toddler to becoming a motocross racer that he doesnt have the skills needed to be a great broadcaster. Theres nothing wrong with that. Not everybody can be on tv. Pointing out this reality is not hate, its just making an observation. 

If he was crushing it in the booth, but people just didnt like him so they said he sucked anyways, then that would be hate. That is not what is happening though. If Im being honest though thats kinda whats happening with leigh. Hes not “crushing it” but he does a pretty good job in the booth, but everybody in the mx community rips on him cuz hes not an ex racer. I’m not a huge fan of him either, but he doesnt suck. People rip on him 24/7 though for reasons other than his actual skill at broadcasting so he does get hate. Rc not so much.

Love DB’s content and he’s a fantastic  announcer but what the hell did he hope to accomplish? It’s undoubtedly hurting the sport and he sure as hell didn’t do it for the fans since he guaranteed he will never get another gig in Supercross with Feld. 

 Why is everyone is taking his word as gospel since 95% of us never met any of these guys. No wonder so many pro athletes like Eli want nothing to do with fans. The hate on RC is unbelievable and yes I saw the Arlington footage when it first aired in 2023. Thought it was a dickhead move at the time but figured there was a backstory to it between them.


I know it’s an unpopular opinion but I listened to his video twice and it sure seems like the fans pumped DB up too much and he thought he could call the shots at NBC so they parted ways. He alluded to it himself when the boss told him what they wanted and he disagreed. Happens all the time in business. Much ado about nothing.

If he was crushing it in the booth, but people just didnt like him so they said he sucked anyways, then that would be hate. That is not what is happening though. If Im being honest though thats kinda whats happening with leigh. Hes not “crushing it” but he does a pretty good job in the booth, but everybody in the mx community rips on him cuz hes not an ex racer. I’m not a huge fan of him either, but he doesnt suck. People rip on him 24/7 though for reasons other than his actual skill at broadcasting so he does get hate. Rc not so much. 

I agree with most of this except the Leigh part. Weege is not an ex-racer either and he gets mostly praise. I don't give a shit if a play by play person raced or not, as long as they do a good job. Leigh just tells a whole lot of inane stories from the imaginary first person perspective of the rider he's yapping on about. It's more like the shite Will dishes up than what a play by play person should do. Just check out Malin for the best example of how motorsport commentary should be done. Leigh is just a hack who knows the right poles to lick.

But, mainly I haven’t said a word because I agree with you. If Blair’s comments are true, it makes sense. NBC gives through contract to Feld a network package, those folks believe in the people they have in place, but do not believe in DB. From there it is their business to choose who they want to run their show and how they want to run it. It is apparently working well too because their viewers per race were up in 2024 by over 25% per race. 

At the end of the day, it is just a business decision, and Blair didn’t make the cut. But it also doesn’t give RC any right to act the way he did on that track walk. 

Yes it’s working well.  People watch professional sports based upon who is in the booth, not because of what teams are playing.  Jett, Deegan, and Tomac’s return did nothing to increase the viewership in 2024.
