The summary is DB said some things unpopular and Leigh got butthurt and then RC did too likely because of DB's popularity with fans and the positive comments for DB in Oakland that simultaneously trashed RC. They had the pull with NBC and the execs there allegedly are clueless based on DB's stories.
Reality is we will never know unless those execs, RC, Leigh, and DB are interviewed together and that will never happen.
What was your last username?
My response wasn't an attack. Just a statement.
You are right....nothing is going to change. They're not catering to the core fans....they're trying to "grow the sport" and dumbing it down every week in an attempt to draw in the 5 second attention span crowd. Except, this sport has never grown and never will. If they get their wish, it'll turn into NASCAR....huge, but a pale shadow/pathetic joke of what it once was.
Does anyone remember a race several years back when it was Ralph, Fro, and RC, and RC sounded absolutely hammered and was talking shit to Emig and said something to the effect of “How many championships do you have again bud?”

My god was DB curing cancer during commercial breaks when he was commentating or something? Yeah he was good the few races I remember but I don't know how you guys can pay attention to the racing while simultaneously analyzing the intricacies of the grammar and nuances of the commentary to care this much.
I think it depends on your personal linguistics level just how offensively bad rc becomes.
Meh, Malin and the MXGP broadcast gets old as well. If you watch every single race and it’s the exact same broadcast and crew you are bound to begin to find negatives and the grass always looks greener on the other side.
People have been griping wanting Weege forever in SX, now we have him and there are beginning to be people complaining about him too.
Agreed, I'm always blown away how much folks are able to analyze the broadcast in general.
Then I find it hilarious that folks think it should be run like an NFL or NBA broadcast...it's like they aren't even smart enough to understand the differences.
I'm just happy to watch the races Live for $20 a year....it's such an improvement over needing to have a $150 cable subscription.
The irony of folks who shit talk "growing the sport" but then bitch like babies about the broadcast is hilarious though, thanks for the laughs fellas.
Exactly what I was getting at in my post.
I dont think its fair to criticize a dirt bike race broadcast for their linguistic proficiency. If you are going to do that to RC you have to do it to JS7 too as he says stuff that while you understand what hes saying he certainly isnt saying it like you'd learn in English class.
DB excelling at the position is ultimately the same thing that doomed him. We also played a role in it by making it known how much we liked him doing his job.
RC it's just terrible. He's awful. He doesn't have the skill to speak the language on that level, he's a coward in the booth who offers no opinion, and he's got a face for radio. I mean what more could be said. You guys that say "oh just be happy we've got the racing on"that's ridiculous. Great sports and great announcing go together like pizza and beer. We should be able to have it all here. The only person worth shit in these broadcasts is JT and Weege. ridiculous. We had the guy… And now Daniel is gone.
and screaming OOOOOHHHHHH EVERY TWO MINUTES IS JUST HORRIBLE. And IN----er----esting. It's the only word he knows.
And I do, I don’t think James should be in that position either.
And I think it’s completely fair to criticize a person who’s job it is to communicate professionally on their command of the English language.
So much irony in this, you're shit talking RC for not having the skill to speak the language but your first few sentences aren't even typed at a 3rd grade English level 🤣

Amazing how easy it is to recognize these guys who have been banned upon their return......
And he’s not a professional typist, whereas rc is SUPPOSED to be a professional broadcaster…
That’s the same argument of any of us criticizing a rider for stalling or tucking the front.
Of course they’re faster than us, but we can still see issues and point them out.
We aren’t the professionals but we damn sure are the customers and the audience paying for this shit quality.
You cant really have both though, RC is suppose to be the color commentator giving an expertise from someone who knows. The Venn diagram of guys with tons of MX knowledge whos name brings recognition and linguistic proficiency doesn't have that much overlap.
Pit Row
Fair enough.
It just gave me a chuckle that's all, I mean if you're gonna be critical of someones mastery of the English language you'd think you'd at least have an Elementary level grasp on it yourself 😉
Why does he need recognition? There are plenty of people that talk well and know the sport.
If they also need to be a multi time champion that limits the pool to like a handful of people in existence.
Db knows the sport and can talk well
Brayton knows the sport and can talk well

And a shit ton others I’m not familiar with but rc is literally one of the worst speakers involved with the sport and his job now is to speak. Whether he’s play by play or color commentator his job is still to communicate professionally…
anyone they had on the broadcast on the guest rider year from outdoors was an improvement from rc.
I totally get it, but you can’t discredit the argument entirely because of it. We’re also all typing on our phones while we’re supposed to be working lol.
I get what you meant tho!!
I'm not arguing with the main message you're getting at (or the others quoted for that matter), BUT, for me...
Confidently delivering an honest opinion/take trumps linguistic proficiency, as long as we can understand what is meant. I can get over non-traditional, or even the downright mis-pronunciation of words (FUStrated comes to mind, from JS7) when I feel like the person speaking is giving me a genuine and thoughtful take in the moment... Sometimes all of their takes feel contrived, no doubt, but RC stumbling over sentences for 10 years now for whatever reason feels like he's trying too hard to think about what he's saying, which makes it feel stiff. I'm not a staunch booth or show hater - I think RC called it great in Tampa and I noticed he was picking up and giving us small tidbits and details of insight that he usually doesn't communicate as well.
The year they rotated co-announcers in MX was littered with this, but I really enjoyed it. Hearing JMart on there effectively say, "yeah, I'm just a dumb motocross racer" while also delivering an honest assessment of the racing was just fine for me - let the subject matter experts come in and tell us what they see w/out attempting to clean them up and white washing them/creating a stiff broadcast. When RC would gues commentate back in the day I enjoyed it b/c he would throw in some HOT takes, but it was coming from him so it was hard to refute or deny.... We don't get the same guy too often anymore b/c he has to tend to alot of relationships etc.
Dayyy Tone ERRRRRRRR!!!
Man , what a dream team Leigh, RC and Will would make!! I can already feel my head exploding.
I listened to the Gypsy broadcast previously, and I'll probably listen in on this on the way home from work.
My summary from Gypsy: DB left because he was being treated poorly by an NBC Exec and RC. RC is documented on youtube in one instance, NBC exec isn't but that isn't important. What is important is what action DB took, which implicitly means his treatment was pretty bad to leave a job he loved.
Whether or not it is a good strategy to go open with your workplace issues is questionable to me. Better IMO to keep it private and professional. Perhaps as a media guy needing views and clicks it really is better to go "TMZ" and throw it all out there.
Never once have I turned off the race because DB wasn’t in the booth. Just saying
Nobody has.
Hell, there is even one person in this thread who claimed they weren't gonna watch anymore because they hated Peacock/the broadcast so much.... yet here they are, clearly watching and bitching about it. Shoulda just practiced what they preached.
We need some professional moto journalists to investigate if RC paid off that Daytona security guy to kick AC out of press day.
RC is not a professional broadcaster, he's a color commentator bring his racing experience to shed light on the races for the general audience. Just as we would expect someone who is not a professional typist to show some proficiency in typing, we expect RC to show proficiency in his commentating.
To that end, I guarantee you, you the "paying customer" here at vital don't have near the influence you think it does. The people who complain about RC are a small subset of the minority. Fact is, even most of you complaining won't cancel your subscription, and if I sat down and watched the races with my non-moto friends (as I have done), the last thing they will compmain about is some guy in the booth. They are more interested in...
...the racing. Instead of nitpicking who is talking, whether they have an accent or get a few things wrong, they want to know who is winning, who crashed, what's the difference between a heatbrace and a main event, what is a lcq, etc.
As it should be.
Giving my post a thumbs up 👍
I thought the entire reason for the dumbed down broadcast was to grow the sport with new viewers? If so, we don’t need a multi time champ in the booth as they would have no clue who that is.
